Please do not post in multiple colors and in huge font, its extremely annoying to read.
Plus Call of Duty: World At War is a multi platform game, so its in the wrong section.

I'm not looking forward to WaW mainly because I've seen a ton of game play videos and it just looks terrible.

How could you guys not be excited? I'm getting asap! 4 player co-op, drivable vehicles, and it's cod!!!

Modern was cool, but this is truly a next gen experience that we didn't have before on a WW2 game... not saying I wouldn't like another modern game, just that I don't mind.

As one of the two people who enjoyed Call of Duty 3, I'm willing to give Treyarch the benefit of the doubt, but I am definitely checking out some reviews before I buy it. I think the Pacific setting could be cool if they execute it right, but I think that fans of COD4 who buy this game will probably be disappointed.

I think it could be pretty good. I thought the trailers shown weren't great but some elements look promising. Co-op sounds fun, and multi-player has always been a good point of the CoD series. I'll probably rent it on release and I'll pick it up if I like it.

You can't just say that anyone who makes it besides Infinity Ward will make it suck. I liked CoD3, it was a very fun game. Yes, CoD4 was better, but that doesn't mean that when Treyarch makes it it willl be a "big pile of poo".

Have you played the game? Gaming isn't a spectator sport it's sometimes boring to watch. Don't bash on the gameplay until YOU play it.

CoD3 was more realistic with it's gun damage than CoD4. You could survive more from a low caliber weapon and would be dropped by one shot to the chest from a .30-06 in CoD3 like you really would. CoD4 on the other hand, you would go down in a few shots with an m9 and 2 chest shots from a Barret .50. I think CoD3 had the superior guns, granted they dont have such a variety but they actually kill things.

Oh they will have automatic weapons in CoD: WaW if that's what your getting at.

And as for your perks:
Extra ammo
Steady Aim
Increased Sprint
Fast reload
Mines
AT weapons
Camouflage as a sniper
Camouflaged gun
Silencer (certain pistols and SMG's only)
Carry first aide kits for yourself

and many many more

My only concern with the game is that Treyarch isn't exactly a triple-A developer. CoD 3 was good, but compared to the other games it doesn't really stand out. The pacific setting is pretty interesting though.

Ala Douche

yesssss, time to bring out the same ol' facts that more people have ignored/haven't researched for the 50th time here....

first of all, you're all forgetting call of duty: united offensive (oh wait, that's right... barely anyone here has played it). it was developed by (part of) treyarch and was hands down a better game than COD4. COD:UO had big maps (not BF sized maps, but waaaaaay bigger than COD2 or 4) and their vehicle use was perfect. when i say perfect, i mean PERFECT.

if you're thinking about treyarch's console COD history, you must keep in mind, they were shafted on time and resources for COD 3. they had less than a year to make that entire game from the ground up, so yeah, expect bugs. for WaW, they've had two years to develop it, as they began work immediately after COD3 was released.

ah hell, what do i know? infinity ward makes near-perfect games... right?

[/begin IW rant]
cause i mean, when trying to make the most realistic war game ever, they seem to have forgotten just how powerful .50 caliber weapons are. you mean to tell me if i shoot a guy across the map with my .50 cal barret, he doesn't completely explode? not only that, it doesn't even kill him??? very very realistic. and you're right, bolt-action rifles? BORIIIIIIIIING (ie, you suck at using them). i don't know if i've ever felt the same satisfaction as getting top place on a map using a bolt rifle against a bunch of auto noobs. :p (just kidding about the noobs part ) and PERKS! who could forget about perks!? my god, how did we ever play FPS games before those came along?

rewind: COD2. revolutionary FPS game? maybe for those who weren't able to play COD 1 and COD:UO. when COD1 came out, it was the most realistic WW2 shooter, hands down. When COD:UO came out, they took everything 1 did right, improved the things they did wrong, and threw in a gametype of epic (EPIC) proportions (Base Assault). Then COD2 came out, and it looked oh-so-shiny. yes, very pretty indeed.... but, what's this? a slew of bugs that were fixed with UO are back? hit boxes that changed from the broadside of a barn to the size of a pencil, depending on where you're at? Why? WHY?

oh, because this game was made for Xbox 360 and PORTED to PC... yeah... that makes sense... they forgot about the PC gamers. and after that game sold SO well on the 360, activision said "good, cause the next one's not coming out for PC at all! mwahahahaha!"

[/end IW rant]

so here we are; about to see a game that has the potential to be better than any of the COD games released for console, and people are shooting it down before even playing it. congrats guys... keep COD4. i'm ALL over WaW when that thing's out.

:)

dude that rant was awesome...........................

im probably gonna get this game i already new everything u sed and i agree completely although not with the hating on infinity ward, no one sed they make a perfect game they are just a well recognized developer because they made some good games so u r being a bit hypocritical there

but the weapons and perks stuff was bang on

the most fun ive had on a mp FPS was COD2 which is dare i say it a WW2 game with bolt action rifles, which imo are quite satisfying as oppose to sum noob with an F*ckn LMG

@ Ala Douche:

I like your post, very well founded and based on facts.

I agree with what you put forward, however, for me a CoD game has to be a non-vehicle game.
That is why I didn't care much for CoD: UO.
(Yes I played/own it, still collecting dust somewhere around here)

That is also why I don't care much for CoD: WaW before its release.

@Ala Douche, That is why I'm your Super-Megga fan!

What is everyone's problem with 3 there weren't any real problems at all with it!

Also what is so wrong with vehicles? So your saying you would either A. you prefer to hoof it on a big map. Or B. Stick with insanely small maps where you can easily shoot someone from the other side.

if you don't like vehicles, that's ok... and understandable. you want a close-quarters (for the most part) very fast-paced shooter... i love vehicles (jeeps way more than tanks), and i love more open maps. i think it adds a little bit of realism.

United Offensive was created by Grey Matter. that's why the (part of) thing was in there. still, the point is that it's guys who know what they're doing, they have had plenty of time to do it, it's not going to look worse than COD4, it's not going to play worse than COD4... the only thing i could see bringing it down is people who are so sick of playing WW2 games that they don't even want to try it. that or the people who are going to try to justify their "if it's not IW it's crap" posts by nitpicking every little thing wrong with it (which i can do... and did... to any IW game as well).

Ohh come on...just because they use the same engine does NOT mean that gameplay and graphics will be exactly the same!
Just take a look at *mirrors edge" and compare it to "gears of war". Will/does mirrors edge have the same graphics and gameplay that gears of war had? I really doubt that. I dont say that world at war will suck- I just think it is a little naive to think CoDWaW will be CoD4 in another setting just because they use the same engine.

Nobody is making you play this. If you don't want to then don't. Also don't forget that this is the first truly "next-gen" WWII shooter it could be head and shoulders above all the rest.

And how many crappy modern day shooters do we have?? And most of them are about the same over used thing, terrorists in the middle east.

Soldier of Fortune
Black Hawk Down
Flashpoint

America’s Army: Rise of a Soldier

I would hold off buying the Wii version of WaW until after some reviews come out because it doesn't look that great mainly because of the two player single screen co-op. Also, I don't think the Wii version will have online multiplayer.

As for me, I'm gutted that it's going back to WW2. I'm a big fan of modern day weaponry and I think another modern day story would be more interesting than another WW2 story. Therefor I'm keeping a close on Operation Flashpoint 2: Dragon Rising. This could become a good substitution for WaW.
