View Full Version : The Unofficial "Get the Word out to THEM" Thread
PayneTrain 09-10-2008, 05:37 PM Hey Gamers,
Extra Life is already pretty big, but this needs to get out there. I'm talking about those big news sites I hate: Your G4s, Kotakus, Joystiqs - any and everything.

codespace 09-10-2008, 05:44 PM I spent last night and this morning posting on my various regular group forums.
PayneTrain 09-10-2008, 06:40 PM Digg it too! How else does G4 get news? They don't go to the source...i think.
AcesHigh4895 09-10-2008, 06:46 PM I sent one to WhatTheyPlay.com, it seems like the sort of thing they would endorse.
I actually told my father about this, who is a journalist for one of the bigger Dutch newspapers. Will roll it past my brother too, who's also a journalist for a pretty big one. There is a good story in this, so there's a chance it will get picked up at one point.
viatrophy 09-10-2008, 06:57 PM I've already emailed guys at kotaku, jostiq, x360f, ps3f.
But we need more people to do it, the more people which send it in the more of a chance there is of it being picked up.
PayneTrain 09-10-2008, 08:43 PM We need to clone viatrophy. Why?
We'll have a forum police force.
He can always be at gamernight.
He can be on both teams.
And he emailed THEM.
Digg the Article guys! C'mon. Click the link, and digg it! It's the easiest way to get noticed.
codespace 09-11-2008, 12:12 PM I just set up a Facebook cause. Nice thing about Facebook causes is it streamlines international donations.
Saccia 09-11-2008, 02:27 PM Yep, I started the Digg and I want to see more digging. I've asked the people over at MMORPG.com to post something on the site or maybe interview some of the SG staff about the cause. I've also asked some of my contacts at GamersInfo.net to see if they can do anything. The more sites that post about this (no matter how small) it can make a difference. A wave of press will eventually get noticed by the big guys and will more likely convince them to join in.
Saccia 09-11-2008, 02:30 PM This is how to get the news to MMORPG.com. I think it would be awesome if they could run an event of sorts and get MMO teams from all kinds of MMOs to participate in the event. I'm trying to get my guild on Perfect World to participate.
I have some great MMORPG news that I want you to post at the site. How do I submit this to you guys?
We love getting news! Before you submit news, make sure that:
a) The news you have relates to a game on our list
b) The news is not already posted for this game
c) The topic is fairly new, old news is not really news :)
You can simply e-mail us what you have to news@mmorpg.com - please make sure you provide all needed information like the game and any web links to the source.
Arbiter1337 09-12-2008, 10:28 AM Joystiq posted it :

Good to see one of the major sites posting it.
Saccia 09-12-2008, 11:43 AM X3F is also supposed to be posting about it today. So we'll get more 360-centric gamer exposure.

I don't hate Kotaku or Joystiq. In fact, Joystiq just posted a story about Extra Life. I scoff at G4's programming, but I find the network more clownish than detestable.
Link to the Joystiq story...

Saccia 09-12-2008, 11:55 AM Well, the good thing is that if it does get exposure on sites like joystiq and X3F, it will filter up to places like G4 and get noticed. And while some people object to some of the programming on G4, if it makes it on Attack of the Show or X-Play then it will get some really great exposure.
Arbiter1337 09-12-2008, 06:23 PM Xbox 360 fanboy's post is now up : http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/2008/09/12/sign-up-for-extra-life-help-fight-cancer/
Good to see another site helping out.
