from what I recall Miyamoto has had an idea for something like the mii's during the N64 era. Meaning that Nintendo still had the idea for Mii's long before MS.

According to the Eurogamer article, Rare's Lee Musgrave claims that "It was an idea we had, even before Miis were part of the gaming scene." Therefore, they don't assert that they thought of the idea before Miyamoto, just that they came up with avatars before they appeared on the Wii.

Yeah, and they're all copies of any website or game that lets you upload a custom avatar or design a custom character. Everything's ripped off of everything nowadays. It all really dates back to when humans first had different clothing options, really...;)

Miis and Avatars are the same basic concept, only done differently. Microsoft's doing it right and actually pushing and supporting the feature.

Of course they aren't rip-offs. Just because a rival company makes something similar to the other company doesnt mean that it is a rip off. For instance, rockband is similar to guitar hero, but they are still completely different games.

Uhhh.....I still consider Rock Band to be a total rip-off of Guitar Hero. Almost every part of the basic gameplay experience is there, what with the guitar controller with the Red, Green, Yellow, Blue, and Orange notes, the strum bar, the whammy bar, the way the notes come down on a track, the way that...you get the idea. Total rip-off.

I hope Nint€ndo will take a hint from Micro$oft and improve the Miis with their next console...or maybe even do that with the rumored coming of the next DS iteration.

Really, all of this is an arguement over disputable evidence...almost to the extent of opinion. But not quite. Just look at the pictures...the idea might not be a rip-off, but they look pretty similar. :angry:

I must admitt Microsoft "Avatars" are a lot better then Nintendo's, but they still came up with the idea first.

Does it matter who made them first? Nintendo's Miis are not the first time that a game has had a character creator?
