View Full Version : Does it really have to be 24 hours?
DolmenRage 09-18-2008, 08:54 PM Yes, it's for a good cause and everything, but 24 hour gaming non-stop sounds really, really unhealthy and actually... kind of boring (yes, I said it).
But, I really wanna help, so, can I do like 5 or 6 hours?
PayneTrain 09-18-2008, 08:58 PM You get breaks for eating, peeing, and maybe a nap, but otherwise...
DAMN STRAIGHT.

Uninformed and false. We understand that it IS hard to try and do 24 hours in a row (I'm going to do it anyway, but nontheless) so as long as you play 24 hours of games within the rest of your life... then it's cool. Though, it's good to at least show some effort for the cause. Hope you don't get run over by a bus before you finish your 24 hours.
PayneTrain 09-18-2008, 09:17 PM Well, were aren't set out to kill anyone. I was being pretty dickish. The donations are the main goal here, with the gaming being the second selling point, in a way. I'm sure Doc would want you to fully participate if you could, but dropping in 100 USD (Or pesos, quid, etc.) would be just great. That's why we're here, really, to mobilize 1,000 dedicated people to reaise money to fight childhood cancer.
Needless to say, I'll be on.

Yes, I will definitely make an effort to do as much hours as I can, but I know I won't be able to do 24 hours in a row.

Then don't. The charity and your game time are not directly connected, you can donate for 24 hours play for three and spend the rest of your time sleeping if you really want.
Shaha44 09-19-2008, 01:50 AM Don't feel bad, I won't even be able to participate on October 18th. I am standing up in my best friends wedding... I will however be doing my time [24 hours straight] on October 25th. BTW, I would rather be gaming on the 18th than be at a wedding.
sportscrazed2 09-19-2008, 02:01 PM i am going to have to do it i got my teacher to sponsor me and i don't want to go in the next monday and tell him i couldn't make it all 24 hrs
This is one of the questions being asked most in emails.
The spirit of the event is that you play for 24 hours and we all support each other to make it through. The fact of the matter is that these kids that we are helping face a challengefar greater than playing games for a full day....
HOWEVER
The reality is that everyone has a life and personal limitations. I would not want to ehar about anyone not participating because they couldn't free the time or play for that long.
So no matter what your situation is you can participate. Whether you play for an hour 24 times, or you do it in 12 hour blocks.... The donations are being made to sponsor you for each hour that you play in honor ofthesekids. However you want to do it. If you can't do it on the 18th, then you can do it on the 25th,or the 19th, or in November. What matters is that you go out and tell people you've had enough of kids getting cancer. That you are standing up in this small way and ask them to stand with you.
Take Extra Life as literally as I am, or as more of a state of mind.... but either way, make up your own rules to solve your time problems and get involved...
Extra life is NOT a spectator sport.
Thanks all
Good thread
