Which do you think is better? I don't know why but the visuals have an immense effect on me I just can't stand the notes of GHWT they look horrible. Also I just like the feel of rock band it's more polished. I didn't really see much in GHWT that set it apart either beyond the fact that you could make your own songs, which I was uninterested in.

GH:WT mostly only interests me for the music creator. However, since I'm a big vocals fan, and the music creator doesn't support vocals, Rock Band's DLC is terrific for me. I also prefer Rock Band's drums, guitar has it's ups and downs on both. I also prefer the more "realistic" style of Rock Band's graphics.

even if this is a duplicate thread, i'll still give my opinion.
GHWT looks like it'll fail, it'll be an EPIC fail.

Rock band 2 is better because the GH:WT Drums suck!

I could go on for ages about this, as RB and GH have been major parts of my life (or now lack of it) since they came out, starting way back at GH1. But I won't. All I will say is that Harmonix have been in this game for way longer than Activision and Neversoft, and it shows in WT and RB2.

RB2 wins every time.

Well,

First preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour an 8 inch square pan.
Second in a large saucepan, melt 1/2 cup butter. Remove from heat, and stir in sugar, eggs, and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Beat in 1/3 cup cocoa, 1/2 cup flour, salt, and baking powder. Spread batter into prepared pan.
Third bake in preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes. Do not overcook.
Finally, to make frosting: Combine 3 tablespoons butter, 3 tablespoons cocoa, 1 tablespoon honey, 1 teaspoon vanilla, and 1 cup confectioners' sugar. Frost brownies while they are still warm.

Wait, what was the question again? Oh yeah... well... I would have to say IF I ever buy one, I would have to lean towards RB2. It's like this: Macs come with great tools right out of the box, and a simple drag 'n drop interface that is probably easier for a new computer user to adapt to. PCs on the other hand, are used nine times more frequently than Macs and you will have better luck finding other PC users.

I plan on playing online, and getting GHWT would be an offline event because none of my friends have it. Even if it was better, RB is already dominating the market. If you actually read to this point I'm rather surprised, so I'll go ahead typing until my OCD kicks in and tells me to stop. la lala, almost, right, now.

Oh... I'm confused. I'm getting one of them and I really don't know which. I like GHWT tracklist a lot more but I keep hearing that it's bad and that RB2 is better. I don't really have intentions to buy any DLC, but maybe I'll change my mind. Also, I'm buying it mainly for the vocals.
BTW, I'm getting it for the PS3. So, what should I get?

I just don't get what the deal is with Rock Band. Rock Band 1 was definitely better than GH3, but nobody has really gave me a real reason why RB2 is better except for the DLC, which GH also has. Look, I don;t care if Rock Band gets double the content that GH gets if I don't even know half of those bands, and i've seen that GH gets less DLC out but with more substantial, or famous bands.
Now, I've compared the songs that I like from both games and Guitar Hero is waaaaaaay better than RB2. I only know about 4 songs from Rock Band 2 (Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, Bob Dylan, Soundgarden, Smashing Pumpkins) and in Guitar Hero I know a lot more, and they are really good, like:
Mr. Crowley - Ozzy Osbourne (Oh god, this is one of my favorite songs)
Crazy Train - Ozzy Osbourne (wicked solo!)
Assassin - Muse (are you kidding me! This'll be fun to play drums on)
Hotel California -Eagles (Also, one of my favorite songs, wicked solo too)
Everlong - Foo Fighters (awesome song, also in RB2)
Dream Theater - Pull Me Under (wicked to play in every instrument!)
Smashing Pumpkins - Today (Smashing pumkins own. End)
Nirvana - About a Girl (Unplugged) (singing this will be fun)
blink-182 - Dammit (brings back old memories...)

So, why does everybody keep saying RB2 is better, when it's pretty much the same thing as GHWT, but with worse songs?

The song list is all about personal preference. If you have to make a judgment, what songs you prefer are important, but the gameplay has to be the most important thing. And from what I've heard (I can't really give my own opinion as I have played neither game; neither are out here yet) RB2's gameplay is a lot better. However, these are two music rhythm games with similar mechanics, and it is really gonna come down to what you prefer. I suggest finding someone who owns RB2 and someone who owns WT (or someone who owns both) and trying them both out first.

I came to say I prefer Rock Band but now I have this strange urge to make brownies.

I haven't played much of GHWT as we just got it this weekend but so far I definitely do not like the vocals. Songs I do well on Rock Band I am not doing great at for GHWT. I do like the song selection on GHWT but I think that is just because I already played through ALL the Rock Band 1 & 2 songs and I have gotten bored with them. If I had to pick one honestly out of the two it would be Rock Band hands down.

One thing I do prefer about GHWT is the money earned and how they itemize it...that's a neat feature. I don't like the star power at all and I really don't get why the strum bar on the guitar is fun. Seems more complicated to me.

Man you guys are making me nervous... I've pre-ordered GH:WT (It's not out yet in the UK). Mostly because of the drums (I know they have had some problems but apparently it's been sorted). The Drum kit is far more realistic with the cymbals which appeals to me.

Also are Rock Band 2 peripherals compatible with GH:WT? I know GH:WT is with RB2 (Although I've also heard that at the moment the drums aren't but this will hopefully be sorted sooner or later).

Basically, I'm mostly getting the GH:WT for three things...

1. The Peripherals, including the guitar, look like they are better than RB2
2. The create a song feature - Not something I can will much but I can imagine people really going to town with it. I think that people will really get inventive with it,
3. It has Muse, Mars Volta and Tool... which appeals to me enormously.

What does RB2 REALLY have over GH:WT... interface... more DLC (Although it's still early days and this isn't a fact)... different song list. Better Career mode also I guess... but does that really make SO much difference.

RB2 FEELS better.

I'm not a blind RB fanboy. I own both. I've already posted why I prefer RB and don't want to do it again =P

When it comes down to it, you'll make your choice and never know if the other game is better or not. You'll be blissfully ignorant. So pick whichever and have a good time!

Depends on your preferences. Me, I am drawn in a lot by Rock Band's career mode, and its DLC couldn't be much better. (Well it could... WANT BILLY TALENT AND ANTI-FLAG DLC NOW RAARGH) and interface is a bonus too. But yeah, like I said, different people think different things about different stuff, so just cause others here prefer certain things about Rock Band 2, doesn't mean you won't find GH:WT fun.

I like the touch pad on the GHWT guitar, however, the strum bar squeaks so freaking loud ! I may have to get a RB2 guitar if I can't fix it.
