well, I'm currently taking a class on how to program in python, and we recently started learning how to make a VERY basic game.

I'm learning, albeit slowly, with XNA and C#.

C++, C#, VB.Net, Actionscript, Java, Javascript...

I know several at some level or another. C++ and C# are my strongest, though. Not much experience with Java or Javascript, but I can use them if necessary.

I do video game design, but I'm the lead designer, not an engineer. I tried to learn Python, C++, and Java and all three kicked my ass.

I know C, C++, Assembly, .Net languages (Visual Basic, etc) and Java. C is my strongest, but I can make do with Java or C++ too. I haven't really built a fully functional game before. I wrote an engine for a game once, but I never used it. I'd be willing to help with whatever you're doing though.

Edit: I'm not great at C++, but I looked at the code you put in the social group..
try:
double avgFunction(int countInFile, double[] theArray)

What is the difference between c++ and c#? I've never seen any code from c#

edit: I'm learning c++ and sql, and general programming theory.

I believe it's what C++ is to C. Several improvements in many areas, but not a total departure.

Myself, I've a BEng in software engineering, and learned C, C++, Java, Visual Basic and some assembly during those four years. However I had the bad timing to graduate in early 2000, when several companies discovered that all the IT "experts" they'd hired to deal with the millenium bug were lying bastards who didn't know a thing about IT and fired them all. As a result, I've never been able to get hired as a programmer, but I make a decent living as a support analyst and troubleshooter.

I made a tetris clone called tetrix using c++ and inline asm calls. I was pretty good with c++ and opengl but family needs stopped me spending as much time learning. At collage I used visusl basic, pascal, assembly, c and c++, java script, and html if that counts.

Oh come on even I can do html.

Oh yeah, I actually forgot that I do HTML and CSS. That's how little they matter. They're so abstract that it's practically the English Language.

As of now my programming is following this general plan:

When I was 10 I learned HTML (5.5 years ago). (Just a statement to prove how easy that language is).
I'm taking a class now (that I'm acing easily, only one in the class who's aced every test except for one where I got two simple things wrong) that teaches us java.

Once I finish java I will take on C++ and learn how to hack (I have a textbook on hacking that I bought that I will find time to read SOMETIME).

I know a bit of Java and a bit of VB, but that's about it, I do plan on learning other programming languages.

Thats why I put in the "they're so abstract that they are practically English". No need for the totally-not-patronising-""
