Announcements:

I ask that you help me in spreading the word of the PC gaming night, tell your friends, tell your friends friends tell other forums ANYONE who is able to post on SG.com forums... whether they have to register first doesn't matter as along as they can post on here they can play and participate.

Thanks for your time!

DD

What are we playing?

Team Fortress 2

Why TF2?

1. I love the game
2. Lots of people have it
3. It is relatively cheap if you don't have it, I got my version for only $20.

What time are we gonna play?

Today (Friday) at 9pm to 12pm.

How are we gonna play?

If I can find a dedicated server to use or I can get one set up, then we might use that... if we don't have many players then we'll join a different server with some more people.

Methods to Contact me:

Steam: DemonicDerek
Xfire: demonicderek
MSN Live Messanger: hockeyrule220011@yahoo.com
more to come...

Rules and Discipline:

Summarized Version: Don't do anything (stupid) that will ruin the experience for everyone else...

By participating in this gaming night you agree to follow these rules and disciplinary actions.

Rules and such?
Don't be an asshat...

What's an asshat?

Asshat basically means don't do anything that ruins the experience of other people. This is at the discretion of the host, more than likely that'll be me but if it ever occurs where I'm not the host then it's up to them.

What happens to asshats?

Asshats will be warned 2 times to behave before they are kicked. Once they are kicked they are not allowed to return to the game. Warnings reset at the beginning of each gaming night.

If you do something so asinine that the host feels that it requires more than 1 warning, then they may give you 2 warnings to you for that something or even kick you!

If a kicked person decides to rejoin they will be warned that they aren't allowed to rejoin for the remainder of the night and after they've been warned they will be kicked again (time will be given to read typed warnings if you don't finish reading, you are reading too slow, if warned over voice chat you are kicked once the verbal warning is completed)

If you are kicked 3 times in a single night you will be temporarily banned!

If you cheat you will be warned 1 time to stop! If you continue to cheat you will get a temporary ban. Cheating is as defined by the host, and cheating is limited to things that are achievable through the unmodified version of the game itself.

If you hack you will be temp banned immediately! Hacking is defined by the host, and is limited to things that aren't achievable through the unmodified version of the game itself. Macros are the only exception and are classified as cheating, however it is up to the host to define Macroing as cheating as well.

The first temp ban will result in you not playing in the gaming night as of which you received the temp ban. Subsequent temp bans double the ban period. The ban period can only be a whole # of gaming nights.

Active Hosts are not allowed to be banned! They can kick each other but can't be banned! An active host is anyone who has hosted in the last 5 weeks that have had a gaming night. Sunday marks the beginning of a new week and Saturday is the last day of a week!

If you are given a temp ban you can try to find a loop hole in these disciplinary actions. If you find one and DemonicDerek verifies it then you can have the ban reversed. That is your only hope, goodluck!

All the times in the poll shall be stated in CST (GMT-6:00).

If you need a time zone converter:

Overall have fun!

Can't play. Time is to late for one & on Saturday, it's all about the Xbox 360. November 22nd will mark the third year of it's release.

You could try other games that are free, is not smart asking people to go buy something that they are probably going to only use a few times and not even get to play with the red guys.

Lol, I hardly am able to pull of said times as it is... I'm pushing being a little late for this one, that's why I only posted those two options...

Normally for the poll I put up all the times I'm available, starting as early as 7pm as 5 hours of dedicated gaming on my part is where I start to get bored.

You could try other games that are free, is not smart asking people to go buy something that they are probably going to only use a few times and not even get to play with the red guys.

Again, lots of people have it ALREADY, on top of that it's a $20 (probably less now) game and really I'm not going to go to any other games until I have them lol... TF2 and COH is all I have in terms of games that are what I'd really consider games... all the games in my games list are just free ones that either are single player or just souce mods...

This game is great, if you don't have it you should get it... So really if someone got it they would be able to play it outside of just this gaming night. I mean seriously if a person went out and bought a game specifically for a gaming night and never used it otherwise I'd question their finnancial cognitive abilities...

what is this time zone in relation to aus lol i might be able to make it on a sat not sun tho

I posted a time converter you know...

http://www.timezoneconverter.com/cgi-bin/tzc.tzc

Wait isn't this a community thing? If the community doesn't get a say in what game we play then whats the point of doing this I mean you're practically playing with yourself:lol::angry:.

Honestly, I wonder if we have enough players to justify clustering around a few games.... 2 or 3 maybe?

What we absolutely MUST, do, however, is organize where we meet online... I recommend Xfire or Steam using a chatroom name we can come up with before the big night.

I'm kinda coordinating this whole thing for you guys so that means in order for me to host it I HAVE TO HAVE THE GAME WE PLAY!

I only have TF2 and COH for PC...

For christmas my variety of games will expand so, please just stop bugging me about starcraft as I don't own it... if it is free on the other hand then gimme a link to download it and I'll give it a shot.

In regards to me buying the game... I HAVE NO MONIES RIGHT NOW! My bank is so empty because by December 1st I must have $900 for a Costa Rica trip for my HS... so, I need to save money up

Guys/Gals/its/whatever you are give DemonicDerek a little bit of a break. He's trying to do the hard work of organizing a gaming night so naturally he's trying to do it around a game he has.

I suggest perhaps a separate thread to discuss other games we could play for future nights, figure out the games with the most interest/owned and then go from there.

THANK YOU! That was exactly the point I was trying to get across... I was using a little harsher tone to emphasize how serious I am about organizing this, but thank you!!!

IF this forum had an emote for bowing down to you I'd insert it here .

not pressuring on any specific game, but I do pressure about how to meet up online... we should pick one. (And both are free, so no worries there)

DemonicDerek

Alright... I suggest Steam as it is generally speaking the program many of us use to buy games. It too is a very dominant program and as a result I think we should use it for communicative purposes and the like.

Creating a group in steam would also help make it a little more organized as it would consist of only those who are willing/able to play in the SGPC night... Well, actually it'd be more like a group consisting of just about anyone who is, or plans to play in a gaming night.

That is my humble opinion, and as these types of programs tend to be free it will be much easier for me to download a different program if need be...

If you have a suggestion to a program that we should use to "meet up" please PM me. I plan on making a thread within the next few days to vote on programs... if I get no suggestions then Steam will win by default...

Just as a note, the program needs the following attributes:

The ability to have a list of contacts or friends... (I'm being very literal if you couldn't tell...) The idea of "groups" is merely optional, it is a bonus but not entirely necessary.

The ability to have a confrence type of chat (as in we can have all X of us playing talk in the same IM window amongst all X amount of us.).

That is the basic minimum required for it to be voted upon.

Features that I consider to be a bonus...

The ability to have groups separate from your friends list,

The ability to even have groups,

The ability to join games that other people are playing,

I can't think of much other features that'd help but if you think a specific feature will help us out then don't forget to mention it.

Seriously.. can we have a mod come to this forum and sticky this for me as BUMPing this thread get's tiring...

Alright... Im actually going to vouce for Steam for the night of.... I recommend Xfire as a download though, simply because if we ever decide to go for a game not on steam, the support for it will be greater (and if anyone needs to reach me when Im in... say, Warhammer or some other game on the PC, steam may not help them... I somehow doubt Im alone on that).

So I guess my personal vote would be organize by xfire, and if playing a valve game that week (Im insisting on future flexability) meet up in steam.

There is already an SG group in Xfire, btw... took care of it ages ago... wondered if it would ever get any real use.

Typhoon

im generally in non steam games so xfire is the best way to reach me mainly with warhammer and cod 5 (i dont use steam for it)

DemonicDerek
11-19-2008, 05:12 PM
Alright, so steam isn't going to uncontested... Xfire is the only other contender at the momment I guess...

Any others?

Note: We are not switching between programs as a compromise, it's one or the other which shall be determined by a vote in a thread I shall create sometime this week.

last time, xfire wasn't working to join l4d and it probably wont work with tf2, steam is much easier being the program the game is under

I know that, however if the majority of the gamers who will play want it then so it shall be...

I'm stuck being unbiased, so I can't really comment much more than I have.

On top of that I haven't given it much of a chance...

Ah well. This will be interesting... I've decided to wait until like thursday or friday to create the poll on what program to use, so if you have a suggestion POST IT NOW!

Im going to suggest while TF2 is the game, use Steam, but get Xfire so you are ready if/when we switch games.... it may not necessarily be a game from Valve we switch to, after all.

As for this weekend, though, I may have to bow out... looks like tomorrow Im heading up to the folks... Dad wants to go to a computer show, and the deals it seems to offer, I have to agree with him, we should show up and take a look (He needs an office system replacement badly... like it's still running Windows 2000 needs it badly)

Alright... Today our gaming night got shortened a little.

However, our total # of players doubled!!! Which totals us at 4! (Epic Anti-Climax).

The shorteness came from me getting home late and then trying to get everyone in at once. However as a group I think we played a solid 1 hour together before we all just kinda went and did our own things...

It was a fun hour though!...

Next weekend my schedule looks a lot more open. I'll post up next week's thread in a second...
