View Full Version : Does M$ think Europe is inferior?
FusedHyperion 11-26-2008, 04:23 PM Why is it that Microsoft seems to treat Europe with such disdain.
Everywhere I look on the x box 360 I see varying amounts of predjudice towards non-EU gamers such as:
Host given to Americans a majority of the time on multiplayer
Delayed releases (Even cancelled releases)
No Netflix for NXE
Seeing as a good proportion of 360 owners live in the EU I think that M$ should pay more attention to us and take a smudgin of their attention away from the USA.
This probably won't go down well on this forum but before you start I just want to say that this is my personal opinion and I'm not trying to force it on anyone.
heyfling 11-26-2008, 05:26 PM Host given to Americans a majority of the time on multiplayer - It all depends on how many people in the room are from Europe and what person has the best connection. I would suggest playing at times when not a lot of Americans are online
No Netflix for NXE - Microsoft can't do anything about Netflix. Netflix services are only available to people who have a Netflix account and you have to be an US resident to have a Netflix account.

And I thought Netflix was a partnership with MS, not actually a part of MS?
Forgive me if wrong living over here don't see a reason to look into Netflix...

Well... I know that is completely false.
I've played in plenty of matches where I've known everyone in the game except one person is one England, yet the one person who isn't from England and is American is given the host.
When I know for a fact that everyone within the match which is from England will most likely have better internet then the American.
The thing which p*sses me of the most is the fact the European marketplace almost never gets 'deals' for there holidays such as St. Georges day or Boxing day. Yet the Americans get black friday and more.
Ala Douche 11-29-2008, 07:43 AM sony is the same way... it's the entertainment industry, not microsoft.
Amathev 11-29-2008, 03:37 PM Well, North America consists of 3 countries, and has 3 languages.
Europe consists of 52 countries and has 230 languages.
It takes a lot of time to translate game manuals and subtitle movies.
chaingunpope 11-29-2008, 03:51 PM I agree with Hyperion. Europe should have all the same stuff as the US.
On the same note, Europe, Asia, US, and Australia should all have the same stuff. (Just not some of that weird Japanese stuff:tongue:)

DeathByWaffle 11-29-2008, 04:51 PM You can't really say anything about Netflix, that wasn't an intention "attack" against European XBL users or anything, it is just that Netflix doesn't operate in Europe.
Awoll SGF 11-29-2008, 06:48 PM It's not that Microsoft thinks Europe is inferior, it's just that we American's can't find you on a damn map!
I mean, if you check out the the map of the world I've provided you'll find that "Europe" is clearly nowhere in sight.

P.S. Before you say "Hey, Europe is east across the Atlantic." I'll stop you right now. EVERY one knows that if you sail too far you fall off the edge.
Stormx2233 11-30-2008, 08:32 AM Ok, a little off topic,, but hey...
I agree Im sick of host going to an American, dont get me wrong I have alot of American friends, The one I play most online is Zero. And he knows when someone from Europe gets host because he cant shoot crap, and its the same when he gets host we can shoot poo.
They need to sort out a happy medium.

Perhaps a humpback in the Pacific can host! I'd imagine any prejudice that any company has is based on sales figures. There's no question that Sony has a predication to their Asian markets, as well as Nintendo (more with the DS than the Wii these days).
viatrophy 11-30-2008, 01:00 PM Your Xbox Avatar is a crime against fashion...
You my friend, have clearly not seen my avatar.

Apparently I'm one of the lucky ones then.:D

i know, i remember one time i was playing CoD4 in a room that was only australians and then one guy from the states joined and instantly got host and everyone went down to 1 bar connections, and to make it worse the guy from the states was the biggest douchebag i have ever met on live and he was talking about how awesome he was and that he was owning everyone
i am not buying CoD: WaW for my 360 purely because of the retarded connection issues that it has
on an important note im not hating on people who live in the US im hating on lag and connection issues and also d-bags, where ever they live
DolmenRage 12-01-2008, 12:33 AM Perhaps you'd like to move here to Mexico to appreciate whatever support you get in Europe. You can't even buy consoles here (not for a decent price, at least).
HOTROD 25 12-03-2008, 01:15 AM Is this a valid argument? Think about it a minute. release dates have a lot of region issues. Sometimes that takes time. There are also laws in place that even the all mighty M$ must follow. They are a company that is happy to take your money no matter which corner of the earth you live. That is not them being EVIL its because of the fact that they are a company and making money is the sole purpose of any company.
And do you really think they sat down at Microsoft and decided to assign Americans as the host because they like them better? Come on, Really? Do you think it might be a technical issue. I don't really know what it is but to jump straight to MS hates Europe is the dumbest thing I have ever heard.
Shane86 12-03-2008, 01:27 AM I notice that you've replaced it with your PS3 Gamertag though...:wink2:I didn't, xbox.com was down at the time :cool2: My avatar is super cool and you know it :D
gliff159 12-03-2008, 10:19 AM well perhaps its because Microsoft knows Europe is lame? ever thought of that?
MeRcEnArY 12-03-2008, 10:57 AM well perhaps its because Microsoft knows Europe is lame? ever thought of that?
Wow that better be sarcastic or your just abusive, why are we lame? . . .grrrr im going to stop because viatrophy will delet this anyway . . .
crashtestgamer 12-03-2008, 01:39 PM lets take this topic to Microsoft
Europeans transform and roll out.
atheistium 12-03-2008, 04:11 PM American internets tend to be better than British internets. Fact.
Seriously though, my net is not that great. I can barely host a 5 player match on CoD4. Most of my American friends have no trouble hosting a full room. Just one of those things.
Delayed releases are to do with licensing and the publisher and not Microsoft itself.
Netflicks is an American company and with movie licensing being different, it's only natural we didn't get the service. I would of hope MS could of found another service like that for the UK. Like lovefilm or something? Actually... how many UK based movie stream rental sites are there!?
