Ok so i've noticed that every time a new movie comes out people automatically start a thread to talk about that movie.

Well this thread is made in the idea of stopping all that and putting all the movie chat onto one thread.

Post your comments on anything movie related below.

Edit: please change title to The Movie Thread

I watched this John Travolta film last night called "Basic" I thought it was great!!! But on rottentomatoes.com it has like a rating of 13%?

I thought it was really good, Travolta's witty lines and charisma really shine and Samuel L. Jackson's raw talent comes through, and there are so many twists and one at the end that you won't expect at all.

I recently watched Quantum of Solace, and I was blown away by the SFX, but in a way, that wasn't a good thing, because it diverted away from the central storyline. No doubting it was a great film, but it didn't seem to fit with the Bond genre, and for diehard Bond fans, they'll no doubt have felt the same way, but will say they didn't like the film.
I highly recommend it, but if you are expecting a Bond film with a really deep, immersive storyline and an emotional, high-tension scene-setting film, be prepared to be both shocked and disappointed at the same time.

Brilliant, but unbefitting of a Bond film. :cool2:

Let's just say any movie or show made by Simon Pegg and Nick Frost is a complete genius.

Yeah, that seems to be the majority opinion and I agree with it. It still was a great movie though, shame for the lack of gadgets.

I think that Wall•E was the best movie this year. Screw the Dark Knight.

There, I said it, and I'm gonna get ripped to pieces for it. I love the movie, but Heath Ledger was the only really outstanding part of it. While WALL•E, on the other hand, was perfect in every way, as every Pixar movie has been.

So there. ;)

Not only is the movie a western but it's also a civil war movie and it's a thriller. I think this movie would be great entertainment and would be a great watch.

unfortunately, the "actors" were just people in my group... people who didn't want to do ANYTHING. don't be fooled by the credits (had to turn this in as a group). i was the producer, director, director of photography, editor, sound design, and foley. the only things i didn't do were costumes, props, and write it (although the very end was my idea... not originally in the script).

Seven- HOLY COW.....this movie was amazing. The ending has one of the best plot twist i have ever seen. Morgan Freeman was awesome, Brad Pitt was perfect in his role also. If you have not seen it....rent it (it was on the 360 Netflix thing so it would be easy to see for 360 owners)

In response to the megaman post, I saw a fanmade trailer for a Halo movie. Topnotch, methinks...though they probabaly had a lot of time on their hands.

thanks man. it did take a while. everyone else in my group put in about 3 or 4 hours of work on the project. i put in about 25 - 30 hours. mostly on audio, because there were a lot of shots where you could hear cars in the background. there are still a few shots like that, but there wasn't anything else i could do. i found some campfire crackling sound effects as well as a long foley of nighttime in the woods which hid the background noise very well. the fact that i had a deadline didn't help either. :p

Apocalypto- This movie is CRAZY violent. The chase scenes are intense and the Mayan city scenes are amazing as well. The costumes themselves are fantastic. I really liked Jaguar Paw (played by Rudy Youngblood) he is a really good actor IMO.

So i say you guys should see it:thumbsup:

Saw Zombie Strippers last night and it was bad. I was hoping for "so bad it's good", but just got plain bad instead. The jokes were horrible and it's never a good sign when the porn star in your movie seems to be one of the better actors. Even Robert Englund seemed to be a bit off. To top it off they threw in a political message in a way that made George Romero seem subtle.

PS: Sorry George. Love your movies, but you don't need to hit us with the "Get It" hammer so much.

Transporter 3: Made my face blow up on it self. There were two problems though.
1. The Chick didn't get naked. They made me watch her (For 17 Minutes) convince Frank Martin to screw her. And not even a Side boob. COME ON! Sounds pathetic, but a
2. When the Chick get's crazy on Happy Pills was really, really out of charcter, out of context and useless comedy.
Besides that, I can't wait to see a 4th.

Transsiberian- This movie is one of the best thrillers i have seen in awhile. Why didn't this movie get more talk/hype? The actors are very good. Woody Harrelson plays the dorky/clueless husband very well, Emily Mortimer pulls off a woman troubled by her past very very well, and the 2 other main actors do very well also (Ben Kingsley is also in it...but not too much). GO SEE IT!

The Water Horse - Great fun and entertaining! If you're under 10.
Twilight - My wife dragged me to this one. I didn't hate it as much as I expected, but I was making fun of the visual effects in my mind through the movie - to find out it was Industrial Light & Magic. Ouch.
Dawn of the Dead - Great flick. I don't know why I didn't see it until last weekend. I can see where Romero gets off saying that Dead Rising "stole" his ideas, but I don't buy it, either. Every city in America with a population greater than 50,000 has a mall.
Iron Man - Hate me, but I enjoyed it more than Dark Knight. It was a lot more fun, great sound, great visuals, great acting/story... one of my top films.
Dark Knight - I still liked this film and thought there were some great moments in the film. The Joker walking away from the hospital - classic. I look forward to next Halloween, when there will be 75% less Joker costumes. Hopefully.
Serenity - Already stated, but Firefly and Serenity was, imo, one of Joss Whedon's most addicting creations to date. Post civil war veterans from the losing side, running on the frontiers of space. Very intelligently written.

I watch a lot of movies while I work, so I could go on, but that's probably plenty from me for now. ;) I dig the thread - movies are one of my biggest geek loves next to games.

The Orphanage- Saw this on Netflix on the 360 the other day, because girlfriend wanted a horror movie. It started off pretty decent, has a couple nicely done "jump" parts, a really good "wow, didn't see THAT coming" scene... and then it just takes this kind of depressing turn towards the end. It was okay, but when you watch it you get the feeling that they weren't really sure if they were trying to make a horror movie or a drama. Both are in there, but they don't really work together.

What is Burn After Reading about, Vent?
