Do any of you feel that a chat box should be implemented into the forums for people who want to chat to other community members without getting told off by mods for going off topic in threads?

I personally think it would be a great idea. Post your thoughts here and don't forget to vote in the poll.

We had a chat area at one time on a different website, but not many people are on anymore.

So a lot of people feel the same way as me about this (Except Regua). Does anybody know of any other designers on this site who could make this happen?

Either collect the MSN/Yahoo/whatever screen names from everybody you want to chat with and use IM to do it, or use that SG chatroom (http://sarcasticgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9023) that was set up a while ago. There will be no instant messaging on SG.

Just use skype or msn or aim.

You can't have everything in one place, especially if instant messaging is already handled by desktop IM apps and IRC chatrooms.

If you want to talk to people just get their msn/aim address or just use a good old cup and string..

Also, none of us have anything interesting to say when we have time to prepare it in forum posts, you want to shorten the time limit and expect anything said to be worthwhile?

it would be cool if we had one but i dont really care either way i'll just say yes because i am a conformist which makes me an unconformist which takes us down a cycle that will never stop...

well it would be more convenient but it would take more money for Doc and Dave to pay for it, and in this economy money shouldn't be spent on useless things

Nooo, if you put a chat room in one of these forums, then you can forget about people actually using the forums. Believe me, it happens.

Having a 'chat room' built into the site would completely kill the point of the forums and all the community behind it.
