That's hype getting into your heads LL and Shane...Not really, I've finished gears 2 and unless Far Cry 2 improves immensely later on in the game it really shouldn't be in the list, it has far too many flaws (too much travelling, checkpoints respawning too quickly, a huge world with very little to do in it.) The Gears 2 campaign was brilliant (okay, the ending was awful) but the game improved on gears 1 in every category, and horde mode is great too :thumbsup: I think people are being harsh on it because of the matchmaking problems.

Who's being harsh on Gears 2? I love the game, but it doesn't compare with the innovation in Far Cry 2, despite your reservations... That's just my opinion. I'm sure there will be plenty of websites picking Gears 2 for GOTY. We just aren't one of them.

Eh. The game is flawless. As far as I know, there was no big "feature" or glitch that ruined the experience. And it's a fun, well rounded game. Whereas Gears 2 is a sequel, and hasn't really innovated anything, so...

What did you want - a Roller Disco? A Bowling alley? It's Africa, it's kind of a bit sparse. I actually like the fact that there isn't much between towns, it gives the game a lot of character and makes you feel more like your actually there.

A lot of stuff people are criticizing this game for I don't understand coz they are factors that I think added to the game. There is more innovation in Far Cry 2's map system, than there was in the whole of Gears of War 2!

I also like the fact that we ended up nominating Far Cry 2 as GOTY coz I said it would be a contender when I saw a preview of it last february.

Are the PS3 Socom headsets that hard to find? Last time I was at Gamestop they had them cuz I took a minute to look at accessories and thought "oh, there's that cool headset that comes with socom". If only I knew it was such a rare item to see sold seperately, it must be only in those abscure stores like Gamestop or maybe even the rarely seen Walmart.

No one heard of the 88% glitch in Far Cry 2?
It's pretty serious and because of it it should not be a contender for GOTY.

I have a workmate who has already bumped into the glitch and warned me about it.
Now I'm nowhere near 88% completion, but if it doesn't get solved/patched and I too run into the glitch I'm gonna be well pissed off. It is a broken game. Period.

This game makes me want to pimp slap Doc :lol:. Referring to Farcry 2 GOTY, really, this game blows man lol.

* No cover mechanic at all (I don't count ducking behind objects, that's lazy cover)
* Gun jams way to often but when the NPC uses it, it seems like it NEVER jams.
* Vehicles feel like an add on instead of an actual element to the game (poorly designed)
* Hitzone is very buggy. I sometimes have to fully expose myself to hit a target

I was a huge fan of the original Farcry but I'm just stunned how this game received the reviews it has with all the issues that occurs with the game. I would of given this a 7 at best if I was a gaming journalist & most of that would of came from the story, graphics & sound. The gameplay is really lacking.

Yep, there's no cover mechanic, but I would disagree with you on every other point. Especially about your gripes with the vehicles. The vehicles handle brilliantly in first person. That's too bad you're not digging it.
