DeathByWaffle 12-15-2008, 07:40 AM Regua is adamant that he doesn't talk in English, how is that going to work?
He speaks English fine, he just doesn't like to talk in front of more than 2 people at a time .
Ventilaator 12-15-2008, 07:56 AM Was that the longest pause-free-laughing-streak ever?

Great episode. By the way, Dave tv already exists! http://dave.uktv.co.uk/
A Rabid Moose 12-15-2008, 12:04 PM How long were you guys laughing? A minute? Two?
Diortem 12-15-2008, 12:37 PM AWESOME episode... as my style as of late... my comments...
1) THANK YOU for Whackety-Smackety-doo..... even funnier for me, as I remember pissing off my brothers as I would yell Whackety-Smackety while playing PSO on the gamecube every time I dropped a nuke (or super fire spell). Thanks for the laugh, and for bringing back the fun memories.
2) Gotta dissagree about PSP vs DS... but if you are going to have analog sticks, at least make it 2 of them... or at LEAST use the analog for looking in FPSs/3rdpersons? I may not appreciate it, but at least others will find the genres playable.
3) The scrabble thing was hilarious.... seriously, that was funny as hell... almost makes me want the game.
Nightkiller93 12-15-2008, 12:56 PM PS3 causes erectile dysfunction??

sayaintjimmy 12-15-2008, 03:08 PM doc.....what is wrong with you?
nr1012 12-15-2008, 04:45 PM I'd say this episode was a whackety smackety doo. It was very funny hearing you guys laugh for an hour lol.
strika234 12-15-2008, 05:48 PM why name the show something dave said that no one heard instead of naming it after what you guys were laughing about for a good few minutes nonstop?
oh, and MY POST COUNT IS A PALINDROME...
It is if you like Top Gear, that's all they ever show!
That's all i ever need!
Inzader 12-15-2008, 07:36 PM Worst Episode Ever.

We didn't want to give it away.
choco 12-15-2008, 08:02 PM Doc sounds like he was eather hung over or had a cold.
Neezy007 12-15-2008, 08:51 PM About the PS3 and sony guys.
I'm not going to call you fan boys our stupid. (unless you want me to, stupid fan boys jk)
But there is something I want to bring up.
Lots of people are holding out to get PS3's. I know plenty of people are just waiting for a price drop. I know at least 15 people who are just waiting for a price drop to buy one.
Sony is stupid for holding out to do this because people are buying Xbox's like crazy and it hurts the game market for them as well.
If more people have Xbox's who is going to have the money and market for the exclusives.
Why would game developers be willing to give/sell exclusives to a console with a smaller fan base.
Sony needs to come down off there high horse and make there console assessable.
They are living off there PS2 glory days.
As a PS3 owner I love my system, and I have no grips with it. I love it and I feel that is is a wonderful system.
But it is greatly underachieving. If Sony was better at endorsing it and making assessable I feel that there is now way that the XBOX should be able to hang with it.
Unfortunately they have marketed the PS3 terribly and I believe a reputation has been formed for the PS3.
Sony needs to try to embrace and the PS3 and get people excited to get it.
And the way to do that is lower prices come through on there promises and get to working.
In my opinion the PS3 is twice the system that the Xbox is. But it means nothing if it isn't embraced by the company that makes it.
I honestly think people at sony don't understand why the PS3 is underachieving.
Just because it has bluray and is more powerful than the Xbox that it will sell.
But if you don't cater to your fan base then they wont go out of there way to support your product.
Raven 12-15-2008, 10:07 PM Dave TV: The only tv network that is realer.
I can't wait to quote whackety-smackety-doo at school tomorrow.

He said there were people asleep in his house, that's why he was quiet.
davezilla1995 12-15-2008, 11:11 PM does anyone know why whaety shmackedy doo is sooooooooo funny?
NoneOfYourBusiness 12-16-2008, 02:08 AM Bah, NPD numbers negelct to mention anything about me or the fun I have with my PS3. The numbers are blatently biased towards sales and silly junk like that.

Shaha44 12-16-2008, 04:19 AM Gents, all I am going to say is when you guys were laughing it also made me laugh non-stop. Honestly, I was laughing so hard while at work that I had to pause the podcast.
You definitely reminded me of being in grade school and laughing just because someone else was laughing while you knew you weren't supposed to be doing it. I really wish every show was like this one, I am a sucker for others laughing. Keep up the great work.
Xgamr 12-16-2008, 07:12 AM Great Show guys!
i was waiting for dave to say On the WB after whackity smackedy do. still great line .
Last Likely Lad 12-16-2008, 02:42 PM Heyy guys great show - just like to let you know that there is a channel in England called dave and its maily for men with shows like Top Gear (a car show) and old brittish comedy.
Thought you might find that interesting/funny :D

oh yeah.....that's right
mediocre george 12-16-2008, 11:43 PM great show guys. Whackety smackety doo had damn near everybody in the shop staring at me as my stereo laughed hysterically for 2 minutes straight.
And having my 15 seconds of fame for an iTunes review made my day :)
Hungry Luma 12-17-2008, 06:35 AM Great epsidoe, though I'm a little surprised it wasn't names "Wackity Smackity Doo."
LEGEND 12-17-2008, 07:40 AM Wow, i really didnt enjoy this week's episode at all, another 5 minute long advert for playswitch (seriously they must be paying you millions for you to dedicate half the show talking about them), then having to listen to Doc's annoying laugh nonstop for about 3 minutes, especially annoying when i have no idea what the stupid wackysmackydoo thing is (maybe it's because i'm not American)
And then a discussion about Doc's favourite subject - Why the PS3 is apparently the worst thing in the world ever (can you please cut down on slagging off the PS3 - it's getting old).
This is the first time i've ever posted in this section of the forums so i dont want to sound like i hate the podcasts, there normally brilliant. But this weeks episode just wasnt 'my cup of tea'.
LOL.....come on Legend....
apparently READING negative press articles WRITTEN by other people is them "slagging on the PS3" huh? So apparently it's an insult to say that a badly selling system is selling badly?
Hmmm.....I think I may have to steal a line from a movie:
"It's no insult to say that a dead man is dead."
IceKatana X 12-17-2008, 02:33 PM I've been saying whackity schmackity doo all day as well as singing some of the 12 days of lono song.

1) They gotta pay the bills, and Playswitch is a good service. I can live with that.
2) I don't think SG bashes the PS3, they're just pointing out that it's not doing as well as it should be after 2 years on the market. My only complaint in this area is that Lono attributes part of the PS3's marginal performance to "Blu-Ray's failure", which is a faulty premise. BR as a format is doing quite well, and I'd say it's the best thing the PS3 has going for it right now. What's killing the PS3 is a high price tag and a less than stellar library.
8bitBass 12-18-2008, 11:28 AM Wow, highly polarized opinions of the show.
I am on the "loved it" end of the spectrum.
Dave you stole the show.

Yeah but what's wrong with a simple "The Sarcastic Gamer [red show/ Humpday update/ blue show/ pink show/ community] podcast is brought to you by [Sumo lounge/Playswitch] message at the beginning and end of each podcast.
Instead of the same tedious rehearsed conversation that Doc and Lono have every episode, about how amazing the sponsor is, for example how many times have you heard Doc say that he doesn't play video games without his Sumo Sac...
That's what most other podcast's do and it it's alot less annoying as well. But i shouldn't complain since i'm not exactly paying to listen.

We don't do anything like how other podcasts do it... When you start paying my bills, you can tell us how to do our sponsored ads... If you have a problem with them, sorry man, but I'd love to know what media that's worth listen/watching/playing that doesn't have sponsored content in it.
That's how we pay our libsyn hosting, server hosting, shipping bills. Our time and energy doesn't work for free either, although it has so far... :wink2:
Try to stay positive and not focus on being so negative and just sit back and enjoy the show.
ccwhite 12-20-2008, 06:14 PM ... what lono said, and Wachity Schmackity Doooooo :)
Show was less than normal until Dave spat out that little gem. It sounded (imo) like you guys were all tired and just getting through the show so you could go to bed.
I'm looking forward to the xmas special next week - keep up the hard work fellas.

Ironic for a guy who is negative about most things? and tbh i would pay your bills just to stop DOcs annoying laugh, its good to hear for a couple of seconds but not half the freakin show listening to the ear-shattering squeals of Doc, its horrible.
Plus the fact that most of that show seemed scripted (you can tell me it isn't but its unlikely il believe you) The playswitch chats are just annoying and the sumo things are horrible. Normally their ok but this one that Playswitch chat went on forever with a little bit of guiltness thrown in.
The Wachity Schmackity Doooooo was pretty funny, i don't know what it means but it sounded funny plus Dave is awesome. Just don't over do it like pacmans wii.
ccwhite 12-20-2008, 10:47 PM I like the weeeeeeeeeee.
I agree w/ you that the sponsor messages have a very 'staged' feel to them and have seemed to increase in length and quantity over the last several months, but without them these guys could not put forth the effort they do to provide us with the podcast.
As long as I come to them I think they should feel free to present me with as many commercials of any style they feel is correct, but like you have pointed out they risk alienating listeners.
Whackity Schmackity doesnt really mean anything. Its just a bunch of silliness that just fit the mood perfectly.

Send me your address and I'll send the bills over. I expect payment within five days of the mailing. My guess is that you're all talk.
And if the show is scripted, then we're the best actors ever! Honestly, I could care less if you believed that, and frankly, you're so negative toward the show, I'm surprised you're still listening... I'll be sure to refund your money you paid to listen to it. Wait by the mail box...

ok your turn. Since you are such a great critic of podcasting. Perhaps you can show us all how it is done?
Why don't you record a community podcast for SG and I will post it front and center for everyone here to listen to. That way YOU can show us all what your idea of a great podcast is.
Raven 12-21-2008, 12:29 AM I personally never had a problem with the ads in it. They support us so shouldn't we support them? The jingle Doc wrote is surprisingly catchy and I wouldn't mind more jingle based ads.

For a website that prides itself on being sarcastic you obviously missed the sarcasm in my post and you have completely overstepped the mark again. I never said the show was scripted i said the Playswitch and Sumolounge discussions were scripted. If you can't take a bit of criticism then how can you expect other people to hear yours?
ok your turn. Since you are such a great critic of podcasting. Perhaps you can show us all how it is done?
I personally don't have enough time to do such a thing but if i did it would probably suck. However just because a listener has some negative comments about ONE EPISODE (get over it?) doesn't mean you have to fly off the ****ing handle. Hell i don't think i even need to make a podcast myself to show you how it is done, just rewind to some of the early SG podcasts which were so amazing and fresh. I get why yo are including ads and such but they take up annoying amount of time that could be filled with Dave doing something stupid. With Doc it just seems he has been reduced to a laughing mess, he barely talks just laughs alot and even Dave commented "oh dear" towards it. Doc is a funny guy, would be nice to hear him crack some stuff or something.
To me it just seems so odd that you are so defensive about a couple of comments about one episode. If i didn't know any better then i would just assume you were insecure or something but yeh if i didn't say it in my last post, you guys do an amazing job:
The Podcasts are great
Dave is awesome
The ads suck
I just didn't like this one episode.
Ventilaator 12-21-2008, 06:44 AM Long post.
Am I the only one who doesn't think that this guy is an asshole?
Ozonez 12-21-2008, 07:05 AM Am I the only one who doesn't think that this guy is an asshole?
yes probably
LEGEND 12-21-2008, 08:38 AM I agree with you as well Ozonez, i'm not saying the podcast is bad Lono, it's my most anticipated podcast in iTunes every week, just that i think there could be better ways of including Sumolounge and Playswitch in them, like a sponsor message at the beginning and end of each episode ("Brought to you by Playswitch.com..."), since hearing the same rehearsed conversation ever week on the Red Show and the Humpday update is getting tedious. I'm not being negative just giving a few suggestions.
ccwhite 12-21-2008, 03:46 PM I see Ozonez's point as well. I listen to all of the color shows and several of the community cast shows. It is a bit annoying to get bombarded with the same commercials over and over.
But its the price we pay to keep these shows going. One of the benefits of all of the shows having the same commercials at the same point for the same length every week is that I know exactly when and for how long to fast forward :)
Lono_Lives 12-21-2008, 05:11 PM For a website that prides itself on being sarcastic you obviously missed the sarcasm in my post and you have completely overstepped the mark again. I never said the show was scripted i said the Playswitch and Sumolounge discussions were scripted.
Here's your exact quote: "Plus the fact that most of that show seemed scripted (you can tell me it isn't but its unlikely il believe you)"
Yeah, you didn't say the WHOLE show was scripted, just most of it... Whatever.
Not defensive, but you said you'd pay for the show and I'm calling you on it. So, put up or shut up.
Here's the issue, if you want to pan the episode, I don't have any problem with it, but when you insult people, that's where I draw the line.
As for your inevitable reply saying "I never insulted anybody..." post, well, the posts speak for themselves.
I don't care if you criticize, but if you're a dick, then you and me have problems.
Nuff said.
Lono_Lives 12-21-2008, 05:15 PM I agree with you as well Ozonez, i'm not saying the podcast is bad Lono, it's my most anticipated podcast in iTunes every week, just that i think there could be better ways of including Sumolounge and Playswitch in them, like a sponsor message at the beginning and end of each episode ("Brought to you by Playswitch.com..."), since hearing the same rehearsed conversation ever week on the Red Show and the Humpday update is getting tedious. I'm not being negative just giving a few suggestions.
Look, i'm not going to get into a boring conversation about how podcast advertising is done, but we get sponsored by playswitch and sumolounge and for said sponsorship, we agree to talk about their products on the show, not to do a 15 commercial. That's just the nature of the agreement we have.
Again, I come back to the same question: "What media that is worth watching/listening to/playing doesn't have an advertisement in it?"
We do what we do for a reason. I'm sorry you don't like it, but it's not really going to change, so I hope you can look past it and appreciate the show. Or learn how to use the fast forward button.
ccwhite 12-21-2008, 10:22 PM Not that I don't disagree with you, I am just tired and bored and feel like a little heated discussion.
Again, I come back to the same question: "What media that is worth watching/listening to/playing doesn't have an advertisement in it?"
Community casts are not sponsored/advertisement (I may be wrong with that), so does that mean they are not worth anything? Also, using that same logic no new emerging media could be worth anything because it doesn't have any type of advertising.
You guys are earning more revenue that allows you to expand the service you are providing. But the presence of adverts in/on the medium does not define the quality or worth of that medium. There are plenty of items that have value that are not monetized. Twitter comes to mind, Pandora started as being not monetized as did the great majority of online internet services. Even the beginning of radio started with the guy just playing music and eventually people started paying him to advertise.
So a lack of advertisement does not define value or worth. Advertisement just shows that worth has been demonstrated.
Like I said, I don't disagree with you. You guys should always be allowed to advertise on your service in anyway you see fit (unless we are paying a subscription fee, but that's another argument)
I'm just bored at work and feel like a little bit of Fy-lo-loss-i-fee :)
8bitBass 12-21-2008, 10:52 PM Community casts are not sponsored/advertisement (I may be wrong with that), so does that mean they are not worth anything? Also, using that same logic no new emerging media could be worth anything because it doesn't have any type of advertising.
The community casts are not free. The guys who run this site pay the bills (libsyn etc.) to host these podcasts AND my guess is that the sponsorship helps pay these bills. Also they are worth a lot to the people who spend the time to create them as well as those who enjoy them.
From what I have seen, emerging media does not stay add free for long. I am guessing some one is going to pick up twitter at some point. But that is just my humble opinion.
I am glad that they find creative ways to talk about their sponsors (and trust me SUMO is getting pretty big after seeing hundreds of their bean bags at PAX) There is a machine at work here that you don't see. How else are these guys gonna be invited out to private events and shows where they can report back to you with the inside info? Can YOU afford to fly off everywhere and pay food/flight/lodging/entrance fees/ lost time for work AND continue to buy and play the newest video games? I didn't think so.
Furthermore from a business standpoint, I would not want to sponsor a website/podcast/blog that has some dude saying in a monotone voice on their highly rated podcast: "we are sponsored by ABC company." And the sponsors of SG are relevant to gamers.
just my 2 cents to entertain ya.
Lono_Lives 12-21-2008, 10:58 PM I never said that if something isn't sponsored, it's not worth anything. I was just saying that almost everything you read, watch, or play has a sponsor of some kind. Including your Sarcastic Gamer Podcasts.
ccwhite 12-21-2008, 11:19 PM I never said that if something isn't sponsored, it's not worth anything. I was just saying that almost everything you read, watch, or play has a sponsor of some kind. Including your Sarcastic Gamer Podcasts.
I know you didnt - Im just stretching for some conversation so I don't fall asleep on the job... Getting a bit loopy here staring a packets all night.
ccwhite 12-21-2008, 11:44 PM just my 2 cents to entertain ya.
Thanks for the effort :)
I am glad you brought up the costs associated the community casts :) - What is (if there is one) the ethical dilemma with using a donated product to generate a profit for a private business interest?
NOTE: I AM NOT SAYING THAT I BELIVE THIS IS WHAT OCCURS, THIS IS JUST FOR THE SAKE OF ARGUMENT
People donate their product (communitycast) to SG. SG then uses these items to increase the product that they have to sell to advertisers, the community itself. The larger and more active we are, the more valuable we are. It takes (not real numbers) say $5 to pay for the bandwidth it takes to publish a single podcast. With the increase in community growth (families/friends tuning in) from community casts the value of the SG advertising increases in an amount greater than the $5 it takes to publish it.
It would be like me having a friend with a talent give me his industry out of friendship, then I turn around and sell it for profit.
Once again, the above is just for discussion
You guys do tons of work and I get a lot of entertainment value from it. I have no complaints/bitches about how you run your podcast/website. The SG team invests time, effort and funds to produce the SG product and its totally reasonable to generate enough funds to make it pay for your time/money investments
Lono_Lives 12-22-2008, 12:05 AM Every podcast, once it is sent to Dave for production, becomes the property of SG, just as the Pink and Blue shows become SG property when they become produced by SG and published through SG.
So, in effect, we can do whatever we want with them once we get them.
ccwhite 12-22-2008, 12:28 AM Of course you can. I wasn't bringing up the legality of the arrangement, I was discussing the ethics of it.
When you first started talking about community cast it was always advertised that you were doing something cool and spiffy for the community. They way I took your message was that it was going to be done just out of the kindness of your hearts. I don't ever remember a discussion about you then using the community produced content to generate profit for SG.
How about this example. SG owns a lot and builds a skate park. They encourage all of the local kids to come to the skate park and play. While there, they film the kids in action and then sell those videos. While your totally in your legal rights since every kid signs some type of agreement and release form so they can play in your park, ethically should you use these video to make money for yourselves?
It could be argued that the original intent of the community cast was to increase the advertising value of the SG community. And when you pair that thought with the apparent (just my observation, I have no data to support this) rise of advertisements during the podcasts, it could show that over the last 3-4 months SG has taken many focused efforts to raise advertising dollars. Then if you believe that the community casts were created to increase advertising revenue (and not primarily to benefit the community), somebody could argue that SG intentionally mislead the community for profit.
I do not believe this is true, this is just chatter
8bitBass 12-22-2008, 01:06 AM Well there are no plans as of right now to include any advertising on the community casts (that I have heard of) . I was just making a point that they are not necessarily free for SG.
I doubt that if there were to be adds in the community casts, they would be read by the hosts. Perhaps if a tag line or something was added into the intro or ending?
ccwhite 12-22-2008, 01:37 AM Regardless if there was a tagline added to the begining or end (like Docs xmas sumo lounge song... and I hope to get a sumo for xmas) the fact is that by increasing the amount of podcasts hosted, they increase the size of their audience... if by nothing else than by the family/friends of the people who appear on that podcast. And by increasing the size of the SG listening community, the value of the community is increased.
I figured that they were not free for SG - though the thought did occur that SG has a hosting plan that allows for X amount of bandwidth/storage and current use only accounted for Y, leaving a delta of Z. And the community casts just used up the remaining value of the already paid for hosting plan, not costing SG any more money but yet giving more value.
Its all just if-ing and butting though, I really don't know anything about who their host is, what their plan covers etc.
Its 1:30am on a sunday, I am up because of work, why are you up?
ccwhite 12-22-2008, 01:43 AM Just for shits n giggles I did some poking around and found out that SG is hosted via Rackspace (a good service provider) -- well they are at least registered through them, and that SG is a LLC.
Rackspace.com, Ltd. RSCP-NET-4 (NET-67-192-0-0-1)
67.192.0.0 - 67.192.255.255
Sarcastic Gamer LLC RSPC-1222458127982762 (NET-67-192-176-176-1)
67.192.176.176 - 67.192.176.183
Not that that data is news - I'm not sayin, I'm just sayin
mediocre george 12-22-2008, 01:54 AM I guess that my take on all of this is.... what difference does it make if the community podcasts are increasing profits of SG? I haven't talked to many people who are responsible for the community casts, but I would bet a drink that those people are happy to support the community through increasing the number of people who are exposed to it. I've yet to see a problem with the playswitch.com ads (though honestly, I've yet to check it out either). Does it seem rehearsed and robotic? Sure, a little. But compared to some of the other podcasts I've come across, where the hosts either have no idea what they're talking about (has anybody listened to the.... I think it's called the VideoGame News podcast? A group of guys in their 40's reviewing games nobody cares about and can't go two sentences without swearing) or are obviously kissing the ass of certain parts of the industry. Frankly, I'm pretty happy with what I've found here.
Ventilaator 12-22-2008, 02:46 AM In my opinion the only thing I would need to hear about your sponsors is:
"We are sponsored by Playswitch.com, it's an awesome site that does this and this, all trades guaranteed by them"
A dragged out conversation about random trades you have done, and Dave saying how his number 2 wish for Christmas is switchbucks seems rather forced.
And hearing a long conversation about the site every week is not going to make me want to go there even more. I understood what the site is the first time you mentioned it, thank you.
When you tell me every week: "We are sponsored by Playswitch.com they are simply awesome, I've been using them for a while and everything there is perfect. They guarantee that every trade happens perfectly, so you won't get ripped off. It's really easy to use, just go to Playswitch.com, register for free and start trading. They have been a very loyal sponsor to us for a while now and we can't thank them enough..."
then that comes off as forced and "Paid for" actually making it more unlikely for me to check out the site.
Lono_Lives 12-22-2008, 02:51 AM I don't know what to say to you Ventilaator... the "Ads" aren't going to stop. So, learn to live with them, or whine about them every week in the forums. Either way is fine by me.
Ventilaator 12-22-2008, 02:54 AM I don't know what to say to you Ventilaator... the "Ads" aren't going to stop. So, learn to live with them, or whine about them every week in the forums. Either way is fine by me.
I'm not saying that they should stop, I understand why they are necessary.
Just a little less forced, that's all I'm asking.
Lono_Lives 12-22-2008, 02:55 AM I'm not saying that they should stop, I understand why they are necessary.

We'll work on it.
ccwhite 12-22-2008, 03:12 AM You know what would be cool - but probably a lot of work - would be a game by game comparison.. 'Today on Playswitch, game X going for $20, while at Gamestop it will cost you $55. There are people currently looking for game Y at $40. Gamestop will give you a whopping $15 for that tittle'. Show actual future value and savings to the listener vs just a personal testimonial.
Frawlz 12-22-2008, 08:57 AM Anyone want to talk about the blue show?
Frawlz 12-22-2008, 09:29 AM In all seriousness.. I understand where everyone is coming from. Everyone has been coming to this site for the past year and a half and have expected the same great stuff. As a small site growing in the big ass world we call the internet... you have to change and adapt in the real world to compete. The site has gone through some major changes. For example the forum has changed quite a bit, the front page loads faster, they now provide video when needed, Lono gets Fallout 3 for free, and tee shirts were printed.
But because the site is changing and growing, more and more responsibilities are hitting on the people that work here. Have you seen the the amount of people working for the site now? And all... and I mean all... are working for free. There is no big company that owns SG. The LLC is something that needed to be done for tax purposes, and to legitimize the site when pitching the site to advertisers. (you know the people that pay for stuff). Everyone is day lighting at there current jobs. Even the forum mods are kicking some serious ass while working at their real jobs. Seen forum spam lately?
As for the community podcasts... I have yet to hear an advertisement on any of them. That was Doc's idea to let the members shine, because he knew there were a bunch of amazing talents here. Look at Pandawatch and Resonator. We would have never had those if the door to the SG server (paid by advertisements and tee shirts) were opened up. This site is more then ever... here for you.
Anyway... Like I said before, you guys have been coming here for a while. Change is something most people don't want to hear. Especially when you feel like you found a little corner that is yours. The advertisements are not here to make us sound like a huge corporate company. They are just here to keep the site going. That's all.
If you want to do your part... don't ever send a check (I'll take one though). We will never ask for donations. That has been Doc's main focus when he first started this site. He wants to provide a place for you... for you to come and hang with a bunch of people that are like you and love to laugh at the world of games. I don't pay my friends to hang with me (ok, I lied on that one). We don't expect you to pay to hang with Doc, Lono, and Dave. The best way to support the site is to purchase a tee shirt. Hell, I bought 6 tee shirts. Why? I believe in this site... moreover I believe in the members/listeners that come here everyday. I love it here.
I am sure there that it is not just me here when I say this, but I have found some of my best friends on this site. That is worth the cost of a couple tee shirts right there. That is worth having to sit through a 15 second commercial about Sumo lounge, or playswitch. While the Sumo commercial does stick in my head all day... I just tell my self that (A) I will be getting one soon from Rothbart, and (B) as long as I keep hearing these ads the site is alive, doing well, and I still have a place to hang with all you guys.
So, all you guys have been coming here for a long time. Let's keep it that way and roll with the changes.
Gamers you will see... true high quality!!! (Sorry, now it is stuck in my head again. Damn).
Lono_Lives 12-22-2008, 10:24 AM Alright, spaceman, where is the real Frawlz and what have you done with him?
Ploogle 12-22-2008, 11:21 AM GREAT episode...but why wasn't it called "Whackety-Smackety-doo"? That would have been a much more fitting name...
PS. I'm the first one to say it
Shane86 12-22-2008, 11:23 AM GREAT episode...but why wasn't it called "Whackety-Smackety-doo"? That would have been a much more fitting name...
Reading the thread before posting usually helps
why name the show something dave said that no one heard instead of naming it after what you guys were laughing about for a good few minutes nonstop?
We didn't want to give it away.
8bitBass 12-22-2008, 11:25 AM Its 1:30am on a sunday, I am up because of work, why are you up?
Because I am on vacation but even if I wasn't I don't like to go to bed early on Sunday nights...it means that the weekend is over:tongue:
I was also loitering around here hoping that the Christmas special would be posted early.
Ploogle 12-22-2008, 11:27 AM Hehe...I guess I could have read 6 pages to make sure my opinion didn't overlap, but I didn't think it was incredibly important. It's like:
Person 1: Hey! We should give more rights to lunch meat! They were animals too!
Person 2: Yeah! Great idea!
Person 3: You know lunch meat? I say we give them more rights.
Person 2: Dude, get with it. That's already been said.
I'm just adding to it, not saying that I'm the first to think to say it....;)
Shane86 12-22-2008, 11:35 AM I'm just adding to it, not saying that I'm the first to think to say it....;)
You asked a question that was already answered ;) and change to 40 posts per page, it's so much better.
Lono_Lives 12-22-2008, 11:47 AM The Christmas Special will be out either late tonight or early Tuesday...
This is gonna be a big one, so we needed an extra day. Besides, listening to Frawlz perform the Nutcracker is worth waiting for, right?
Ploogle 12-22-2008, 12:50 PM You asked a question that was already answered ;) and change to 40 posts per page, it's so much better.
A rhetorical question...more of a suggestion with a question mark. ;)
The Christmas Special will be out either late tonight or early Tuesday...

That's fine, as long as it's good!
ccwhite 12-22-2008, 03:37 PM Holy crap frawlz - that was an awesome post. You type much smarter than you sound on the blue show ;)
And nobody talks about blue because... well.. its PS3, and didn't you know they are just expensive boat anchors :)
Multibucket 12-22-2008, 09:16 PM I don´t mind the adds. Nothing in life is free, except for death. If you guys have found something that makes bringing your hilarious podcasts to us more convenient then I am all for it. Sumolounge products look great and after grad school I plan to get one to plop down for some gaming. Playswitch is a great alternative to Gamestop´s policy of buying used games and then reselling them for a 50 per cent markup that very same day. That would be CRAZY! It´d be like taking a sheet of paper, crumpling it up and then reselling the unfolded paper for twice its value. That´s how a developer described Gamestop to me. Here, let me get a sheet of paper and show you....
At least you aren´t advertising Barbie Games or jewel encrusted fanny packs. That would be the line in the sand for me.
BTW, I listen to the blue show every week and believe it or not, has kept me from selling my PS3 to some jerkoff on ebay. Hopefully I can score some multiplayer gaming nights with you guys in the near future.
Shane86 12-22-2008, 09:18 PM Holy crap frawlz - that was an awesome post. You type much smarter than you sound on the blue show ;)It's all a ploy to make Rothbart look smarter ;)
ccwhite 12-22-2008, 10:02 PM It's all a ploy to make Rothbart look smarter ;)
here comes the pitch...
He doesn't need to work to hard for that
... and BAM, that softball gets knocked out of the park! Thanks Shane :)
Not sure why I am picking on the blue show guys today, but what the hell everybody plays the game on easy every now and again ;)
Ventilaator 12-23-2008, 02:43 AM On another note, I want to be a fanboy for a second.
Sony's bad NPD numbers really confuse me.
Why is the PSP selling so poorly compared to the DS?
I can understand why developers don't want to make games for it, it's due to piracy. Wouldn't the easy pirating mean, that the console itself is selling like hotcakes, and the GAMES are the ones not selling? For pirates, the PSP is basically a one-time purchase, and they get a... still kind of huge selection of games. Anyone would play a mediocre game, if it's totally free.
And it also plays your pirated music and pirated movies.
Why won't anyone buy the thing?
ccwhite 12-23-2008, 02:59 AM Its not that nobody is buying it, just more people are buying the DS. The people who buy the DS are parents buying it for their kids. People buying the PSP are college kids and single guys who travel alot. I am more willing to part with money for my kid than for another electronic device for myself.
If I want to watch a movie, Ill do it on my big screen. If I want to listen to music Ill use my Zune. The problem with the PSP is that there are many other devices that do the same job better the people already have.
To take advantage of the pirated software you need to be a semi-geek with time. Kids with time would rather have the parents spend the money on a PS3/Xbox or games to support thoses systems. Frat boys with their own income would rather spend money on chicks n booze and time with the chicks and drinking the booze instead of dealing with hacking the PSP.
It sells so low because the market for it so small, plain and simple.
8bitBass 12-23-2008, 03:23 AM The PSP is a great piece of hardware with mostly terrible games. These are either terrible ports or just mediocre efforts. Besides your exclusives like MGS: Portable OPS, GTA games, FFVII crisis core, Patapon and GoW. There just isn't much to do on the thing.
As far as the DS goes, it is not just parents buying games for their children, almost everyone at PAX had a DS and these were adults. I only saw maybe a handful of PSP's vs. hundreds of DS's.
As a guy who travels a lot, I like my DS more than my PSP. Better games with no load times IMHO.
Ventilaator 12-23-2008, 06:18 AM To take advantage of the pirated software you need to be a semi-geek with time.
No you don't. My country's version of Ebay is full of people all around the country ready to hack your psp.
The people who buy the DS are parents buying it for their kids.
And yet, I got my PSP as a present from my parents.
I personally don't know anyone (Internet acquaintances don't count) who has or wants a DS, because they all see it as the Wii, gimmicky. And both the DS and the Wii sell crazy much.
.................................................. .................................................. ....
almost everyone at PAX had a DS and these were adults.
The weird thing is, I have only seen 2 DS consoles in the hands of people in my entire life, and that was in the hands of 2 kids on a plane to Germany.
Guess it's just not that popular around here.
JaXboxChick 12-23-2008, 09:04 AM Where's the Christmas Special?!?!?
Shane86 12-23-2008, 09:22 AM Where's the Christmas Special?!?!?That's what I was thinking.
Xgamr 12-23-2008, 10:37 AM Yeah We want the special, dont bother posting it its for us. Theres alot of us out here and we all want Sun Chips!
Edit: sorry bad Mitch Hedberg reference.
Lono_Lives 12-23-2008, 11:37 AM Hopefully today... But wouldn't it be better if it came out on Christmas?
Ognawk 12-23-2008, 12:57 PM Hopefully today... But wouldn't it be better if it came out on Christmas?
Oooh! Then it could be a true Christmas special! Intriguing! :lipssealed:
Ventilaator 12-23-2008, 01:22 PM Hopefully today... But wouldn't it be better if it came out on Christmas?
I have a long bus trip tomorrow morning so I would personally like it to be released today, but releasing it on Christmas is...neater...
8bitBass 12-23-2008, 02:27 PM I have a long bus trip tomorrow morning so I would personally like it to be released today, but releasing it on Christmas is...neater...
Well you can always just play your PSP
Ventilaator 12-23-2008, 02:29 PM Well you can always just play your PSP
That's what I tried to do the last time I was on a bus and long story short I'd rather listen to the Christmas special.
8bitBass 12-23-2008, 02:33 PM lol..really? do tell
ccwhite 12-23-2008, 03:35 PM That's what I tried to do the last time I was on a bus and long story short I'd rather listen to the Christmas special.
And you wonder why it sells so low?
By kids I mean ages 6-14, not teens/young adults. All of my daughters friends (age 11) have DS'. I bet she doesn't eve know what a PSP is.
That minute or two of laughing made my dog walk in the freezing cold much more enjoyable <3
DeltaNuGuy 12-23-2008, 09:31 PM I don´t mind the adds. Nothing in life is free, except for death.
Only for you, not your family!
Ploogle 12-23-2008, 11:07 PM *wonders where the Christmas Special is...* Edit: Nevermind...it's out!
ccwhite 12-24-2008, 12:42 AM Listening to it now ;)
