View Full Version : Where will Wii be in 5 years?
Mikey 11-01-2007, 09:30 PM Do you think it will be the highest or lowest selling system? Will it have the best selection of games or the worst selection of games? Will it be more successful then the DS? Do you think you will still be playing Brawl and still be making your own stages? Will Wii get a harddrive or will be just have to deal with the low space? Will Nintendo have anymore VC games to launch? And will WiiWare be as successful as XBLA, and will it have great games to download?
By the Way....200 POST!!
SWSilentkiller 11-01-2007, 09:54 PM yes I will be playing brawl, as for making my own stages no idea but If I have been playing melee for this long I will probably play SSBB longer.
Sn4tcH 11-01-2007, 11:47 PM That's a loaded question. It depends on the developers really.
At the rate it's at now, I see nothing but sadness.
But if someone makes that killer app (like a Halo, Final Fantasy, etc.) then I can see it staying on top.
Edit: And I am not saying it literally needs Halo or Final Fantasy. I'm saying it needs a game that defines the experience of the Wii. And these predictable games just aren't cutting it.
JAcK0R 11-02-2007, 12:56 AM Eh, probably still playing Brawl.
keith22 11-02-2007, 04:53 AM It will die, just like its predeccesers
ShockwaveLover 11-02-2007, 07:35 AM I hope it does well, we need more innovation, but from all accounts, the only decent game on the horizon is 'Mario Makes Muffins'!
Ala Douche 11-02-2007, 12:33 PM It will die, just like its predeccesers
it's predecessors died? damn, my NES runs more reliably than most peoples' 360s.
Emophia 11-02-2007, 12:45 PM I have no Idea... And it's against my morals to speculate...
SWSilentkiller 11-02-2007, 01:57 PM It will die just like its predecceres? My SNES is still doing pretty dam good, and better then most peoples 360's like ala said
Ala Douche 11-02-2007, 02:10 PM so is my N64... come to think of it... nintendo has always put out quality consoles... this one's just having a slow start... just like the ps3 is, and just like the 360 did.
Mikey 11-02-2007, 02:48 PM The Wii is having a "slow start"? Hmm, I'm not too sure about this. I mean its selling more hardware and software then the 360 did in its first year. And its selling way more of both then PS3. It's already very close to catching up to GameCube lifetime sales, I think IGN said GC sold 15 million over its lifetime...very sad. So yeah, I dont really think Wii is having a low start. Although it has slowed a little in the past month or 2, but its still doing well above average.
Ala Douche 11-02-2007, 03:05 PM i'm talking about quality of the console, not net sales. we all know how well the wii has sold so far... we all know (although some refuse to admit it) that in most homes that own a wii, it doesn't do much more than collect dust, waiting for new games to come out.
Mikey 11-02-2007, 03:15 PM Well yeah, I guess.
rothbart 11-02-2007, 03:25 PM Wow, I was going to say "in a landfill..."
But hear me out. I think the Wii is the testbed for the next system Nintendo will come out with that will likely outdo the Wii in every respect (and be backwards compatibile with it) and since I think that'll happen MUCH sooner than 5 yrs, I wouldn't be surprised if many people just up and get rid of their Wii before 5 years is up...
keith22 11-02-2007, 03:47 PM i never intended to say that the console in itself will die i mean the lack of interest from third parties and other developers. and when i said that it will die i meant to the gamecube and stuff
Ala Douche 11-02-2007, 04:01 PM so in answer to "where will the wii be in 5 years" you say "dead, like it's predecessors (the gamecube is it's only predecessor(-s)apparently)" meaning there will be a lack of interest from 3rd parties and other developers?
i can't begin to comprehend what you're trying to say.
what's that smell? someone who hopped on the "i hate the wii" bandwagon and doesn't know anything about it?
Ploogle 11-02-2007, 04:45 PM I agree with Rothbart...I think the Wii is the testbed for the Eww! XD
BlueGoggles 11-02-2007, 04:48 PM I can see Nintendo putting out a newer Wii within 5 years.
Mikey 11-02-2007, 06:54 PM They could possibly do that, but I dont know. It just depends really on how much the interest in Wii falls in the next couple of years.
rothbart 11-02-2007, 07:04 PM They could possibly do that, but I dont know. It just depends really on how much the interest in Wii falls in the next couple of years.
They'll need to strike while there's still interest and whatever they come out with needs to be "all that and a <insert something less cliche than bag of chips>". If they play the Wii out until it's old and busted, they will have lost a lot of momentum.
SWSilentkiller 11-02-2007, 07:39 PM who knows what nintendo will do next?
