What made this system die so quickly? I thought it was fun and innovative for the times. Also, why has virtual reality not been explored further within the relm of household gaming when a huge potential market exists? I know I would be interested.

Its that the VB made people's eyes bleed when they "played" it.;) I guess it was just a good ideal at the wrong time. Maybe they be able to pull it off now but not many people try

I'm with you i mean the price was amazingly low and the idea was awsome so I don't really understand why it died, it should just now be dying out because of the ps3, xbox 360, and especially the wii.

Ah yes the mighty VB disaster. To put it simply the reason why it didn't do so well was cause it sold horrible. Only 22 games made for the thing, and not to mention the system was considerd "portable".

Does this giant look portable? They should have considerd a helmet design instead of a tripod. Also the systems price was rather high for something that was sopposed to be portable. Even with constant price drops the VB lasted but 1 year and Nintendo declared it dead discontinuing the system.

The VB was released on August 14, 1995 at a retail value of $180. This system only sold 770,000 units, with only 22 games under its belt.

the reasons were:
1-eyes bleeding
2-made people dizzy
3-only had two colors
4-price
5-people had to take breaks from sore necks

and some others but I don't remember.

It was in the shape of goggles because then somebody could wear it while they drive, so then they wouldn't be distracted by the road.
The reason it didn't sell well was because it was expensive, it was uncomfortable, it hurt the eyes and it went through a lot of batteries.
