View Full Version : How do you download your podcasts?
Garwalker 11-02-2007, 01:04 PM I use Itunes but it does not seem to work half the time. It shows up on my list but when I try to launch it, it comes up with an exclamation point and says it cannot be found.
I like to copy my podcasts to my Zune to listen while commuting to work. Is there a way for an RSS feeder to get the mp3 of a podcast instead of just listening to it on the PC? What is the best method other than going to each podcast website and downloading the podcast?
Ala Douche 11-02-2007, 01:08 PM you could just right click the links and save as...
i know it's not what you want to do, but it's a surefire way :p
Garwalker 11-02-2007, 01:18 PM yeah, that way sucks.
Actually what I want is the Zune to use it's damn built-in WiFi and download my podcasts automatically.
Rapahatsutt 11-02-2007, 02:01 PM iTunes for my iPod. obviously
Lono_Lives 11-02-2007, 02:08 PM Have you tried the podtrac player? I haven't tried it personally. Anyone else used it?
Rapahatsutt 11-02-2007, 03:04 PM whats that?
Lono_Lives 11-02-2007, 03:09 PM Or you can just right click the download the mp3 link and save it to your HD and then upload it to your zune.
Mitch808 11-02-2007, 03:21 PM I download it on the edge of my seat with popcorn in my lap and mouse in my hand just waiting for the percent to reach 100. Time seems to freeze as my hand grips the mouse tighter and tighter. "I can't take it anymore i need my fix!". Palms start to get sweaty, i start to jitter in anticipation as my popcorn starts pouring out all over the place. I don't think i can take this anymore. I think about my past and how i should have listened to my parents. I knew i never should have listened to the first one. "Don't do it!" my mom would say "It will rot your mind!" I didn't listen...i should have...but i didnt. I slowly start to slip away from reality. It feels like my feet are sinking, i can't move now. I've lost control of reality. Slowly slipping away...i can hear Simple Plan...their songs aren't sounding half bad...NO...i can't s wink that low...never Simple Plan. The tension is too much, i have no more patience left in me. It won't download fast enough "CURSE YOU DIAL-UP! CURSE YOU PR0N VIRUSES!" Then...my heart stops. Finally! 100%! Turn up my speakers, i know i shouldn't listen to it...it will only make my craving worse...but i do anyways.
And yea, so that's pretty much how i download it...
Garwalker 11-02-2007, 04:00 PM So does anyone else have problems with podcasts disappearing. I watch it download and everything looks fine. When I double click it, that's when I get he exclamation point. Then I go back to the main Itunes page for the podcast and click on "Get Episode". After it downloads again, it saves correctly. Itune worked for me for over a year but the past couple of months I've had this issue. Maybe it's just one of those undocumented features (bugs).
ProNinjaX 11-03-2007, 02:56 AM I download my podcasts through iTunes, and so far there are no problems with it.
iPlayPC 11-04-2007, 10:21 AM Yeah, I do itunes and I've had no problems whatsoever
regua 11-04-2007, 10:32 AM I use Amarok (a Linux music player) to download and manage all my podcasts. It works great, I think it's the best player (as well as podcast downloader) available for the penguinish operating system.
When I used to have Windows, I used iTunes - mainly because I've had an iPod - and it never let me down. Maybe crashed a few times, that's all.
panther 86 11-04-2007, 10:39 AM I use iTunes to download my podcasts it works great :)
Rekenmachine 11-04-2007, 10:48 AM I use iTunes too and it works great for me.
If the exclamation mark pops up, try to see if the file is in place ( .../Music/iTunes/iTunes Music/Podcasts/Sarcastic Gamer Podcast/ ).
If it isn't, it's probably iTunes' fault. Redownload and reinstall would be the best sollution.
However if the file is there and iTunes doesnt open it, it could be the file's corrupted. In that case, check your internet, firewall, etc.
Garwalker 11-04-2007, 04:08 PM Did the erase everything, uninstall, reinstall. Hopefully that will fix it. I was just curious if there was any other way other going to each site and downloading it.
Chexd 11-04-2007, 04:12 PM ITunes usually although sometimes its on the site a fair bit longer than ITunes so then I just listen via the website link.
Duffman X18 11-04-2007, 04:34 PM iTunes for my iPod. obviously
Actually I use iTunes for my Zune because the Zune software automatically converts any song on iTunes.
Garwalker 11-04-2007, 04:49 PM I know the new Zune software is suppose to support podcasts. What that means remains to be seen.
yourshadow 11-05-2007, 09:28 PM I just use Itunes and i have not gotten a problem. (I probably just jinxs myself)
Ryobin 11-06-2007, 04:29 AM i get my sarcastic gamer fix off i tunes so i can listen to it at school but the last 2 didnt work but when i listened to them on the sites podtrac player it miraculously appeared in my list......i blame it on newsbot =p
oh wait im just recieving new news.......oh it turns out that joke is old......oh well
V3NOM 11-06-2007, 06:06 AM I'm subscribed through iTunes, though since I don't actually buy music from the iTunes Store I haven't written a review for the podcast because I'm not even registered.
Then I plug in my iPod to sync the podcast onto it and I listen to it while laying in bed through a small speaker that's set up near my ear. When the half hour or so for the episode is up I put on other music, set a sleep timer, and fall asleep.
Garwalker 11-13-2007, 03:27 PM I downloaded the latest Zune software and am able to download all the shows that I listen to on Itunes with one exception.
FYI - The firmware update for the Zune still has quite a few flaws. Can't delete from the Zune, can't bookmark podcasts so you have to fast forward to when you left off, can't use Zune as a storage device, can't browse into Zune using Windows Explorer, etc... It's been a year since they launched this and there are still many flaws. Hopefully I'll be able to download movies from XBL and put them on the Zune. I guess we'll see in December.
Amathev 11-13-2007, 03:35 PM iTunes, which I have grown to hate.
Ploogle 11-13-2007, 07:28 PM iTunes. Great software, but like all others has its drawbacks. They SERIOUSLY need to let you convert the music you buy into MP3 format.
