I been meaning to put this up for a long time now:

What would you choose if only given these 2 options?

A) Have really fast internet, but have a Bandwidth limit of 3GB a month.

or

B) Have internet that is a tiny bit faster than dial-up w/o any Bandwidth limit.

Please note that when you open up a page, you are using Bandwidth, this is also true for streaming videos of Youtube and other sites. The Bandwidth limit does not apply to downloads only, but to everything you do on the net, including gaming.

If it's just for browsing and downloading I think I could live with the 3 gig limit, but if it included gaming that would suck. Although back in the day I used to play Halo C.E. for PC online on dialup internet. And I was awesome.

It does include gaming. The people in NZ and Aust live with it.

First of all:

Best.

Dilema.

EVAR.

Secondly. I need my Internets man, I don't think I could live with a 3gb cap. So slow internet it is. Even tough I don't like it

If we're talking the internet of today, then I guess fast net with limit for me.
Mainly since today's content is huge and it'll take forever to load a page, even mail...
and I guess 3gb a month is alright, it'll kill all downloads but what the hell.

I'd just get 10 fast connections. That way I'll have a 30GB cap :)

As long as there's streaming porn I'll take the super fast line with 3GB limit any day

I think for me the fast connection with a limit. For a while I tracked my usage on my router just to see how much I used and never came close to that even with gaming, although recently with the addition of Netflix to the Xbox that uses it up real quick. But overall I can't live with that slow crap anymore.

Streaming uses up your 3GB

I would have to go with the fast connection. I was on a family members dial-up back home and it was grueling. Although the slow down might make for interesting Matrix-style headshots.

I'd go with the fast connection. A 3gb limit is plenty for me.

So what happens when you go past the limit?
Most companies just throttle your connection so its at dial up speeds, so I'd go with the fast connection.

Option 3. Find a new ISP. How much data is transferred during an 8 hour marathon on live?

Well since I hate being limited, I would go with the slow internet.

My internet is pretty slow as it is, so I can deal with the slow internet, no limit deal.

I go to this website that I download YouTube vids from, and that takes up a couple of gigs every month. Just that alone means I'd have a hard time with 3 gigs, not to mention whenever I play flash games and stuff.

3 gigs in a month is ludicrous. It would be pointless to have a fast connection with a 3 gb cap on it.

Talk to the people in here that are from Australia and New Zealand, they have to live what you call a pointless connection every day of their lives.

I'd have to go for a slow internet with no limit if 3 gigs is all I'd die because i have about 5 gigs of downloads plus me playing WoW. I already have a slow internet anyways so it doesn't change anything.

I would have to go with slow and unlimited. I've lived with slow internet before, so I can survive it and I spend a lot of time on the internet and gaming on my PC, so a 3Gig limit is much to small for me. Heck, I would go through that just with downloading podcasts!

Why do people from New Zealand and Australia only have this horrible choice? Lack of competition of providers, government intervention and lobby forces or something else? In the US,as you know, there are often many different providers each looking for your dollar. Even where I live, I have 2 choices of internet, and my backyard is a 2000ft tall mountain.

Cables man, cables. Havving unlimited bandwidth would put way too much strain on the old copper cables they use.

Good Olī US of A uses fiber optics and satelites to give you internet, not to mention that almost all the servers for almost every site you visit are located in the US itself,so no need to travel far to find the source.

Oh geez, that's tough.
My ISP is quite stingy in that sense. They promise 6M, and only give about 1 or 2. Plus, they cap your bandwidth at around 1gb, and charge you another 50$ for every gig you go over the limit.
I'm not sure which to go with; I love having fast speeds, but I download far too much to only be able to have 3gb of bandwidth, and I hate slow speeds, but it's such a nice feeling knowing that you can fill up your 1TB hard drive with as many things as you want.
