View Full Version : Take your Rock Band experience to the next level....
DogsDieInHotCars 12-30-2008, 12:34 AM So I am a HUGE Rock Band fan and for Christmas my wife bought me a mic stand so I can play drums/guitar and sing at the same time. Well, tonight I finally got to try it out.
So I threw on the Foo Fighters album that I downloaded (which holds HUGE nostalgia for me!) and threw guitar and vocals to expert. I spent an hour shredding my axe and wearing my voice down on sweet Grohl solo's (like in Monkey Wrench!)
If you are a rock band nut, go pick up a mic stand.....It seriously adds some major reality to the whole plastic instrument genre!
Edthefreak 12-30-2008, 12:54 AM Agreed. I don't have an actual mic stand. I use something to hang the mic from my ceiling. Has the same effect really. Lots of fun if you know the words and can sing. If you can't... not so much. xD
xucphra 12-30-2008, 02:16 AM Haven't played much Rock Band lately, because I've had a big move, but back when I was working at Harmonix a couple months ago, I don't think they had the mic stands, or at least weren't using them.
Is it being produced by a 3rd party manufacturer?

I'm pretty sure any mic stand can do the job, unless the stand is total sh*t.
xucphra 12-30-2008, 02:27 AM Oh I see, a REAL mic stand. That's interesting, seems like it would bring the whole game concept up a notch.
Masselli18 12-30-2008, 03:32 AM I just use a headset to sing... It has the same effect and is pretty fun. (provided you know the words;))
8bitBass 12-30-2008, 03:47 AM Why use a mic stand when you can use something like this:

Now you are Playing with power!

Well that pretty much takes the whole fun out of it being a Rock Band, doesn't it, now? Might as well change the name of the game to Boy Band, while you're at it.
8bitBass 12-30-2008, 04:44 AM either you didn't get my my joke, or you have just planted the seed for the next great music game for SG: Boy Band!
It will be a mix of Dance Dance Revolution but using the headset mic to sing at the same time!

Don't worry. I got your joke.
Let's not forget the strobe lights and the fog machine, those are a must-have.
Gilarus 12-30-2008, 08:25 AM I saw a mic stand on sale for $10 at future shop, if anyone was looknig to pick one up
JaXboxChick 12-30-2008, 08:52 AM I picked up a mic stand the same weekend I got Rock Band from the local guitar supply store. They couldn't believe I was getting it just to play the game so they took my picture with the owner and stuck it on the wall. I use it with my Rock Band mic to record the pink show :)
I actually went to a friends house last week and they had the smoke & lights set up...it was like walking into a chalky cloud...blech!
dankster 12-30-2008, 12:35 PM A friend gave me a mic stand as a gift and we use it pretty frequently. It is the inexpensive kind that you can find in department stores. It sure beats the way we used to do it -- stringing the mic from our ceiling fan so it would hang in front of our faces.
monkeychunkuk 12-30-2008, 02:57 PM get yourself a drum stool too

Nice setup!
zinc136 12-30-2008, 06:16 PM I can play guitar (on expert) on Wanted Dead or Alive by Bon Jovi and sing (on medium or hard)at the same time. It only worked once though because i can't remember how i got the rockband mic to stay attached to my shirt while i did guitar. I can't sing so that just shows you that you don't have to sound good to have fun singing.
jiffyb 12-30-2008, 09:43 PM I can barly sing and play gutar at the same time while Canable Duk is singing... how in the WORLD can you do THREE at once?
