View Full Version : Is supporting the idea of ExtraLife 09 such a bad thing?
Diortem 12-31-2008, 06:58 AM Seriously? I mean, awesome cause, awesome event... what's wrong with wanting to see it in 09... and beginning to look around at what can be done locally for WHEN it is announced. (I will be floored if it's an if.)
In anycase, you can lock this one too if you must.... after all, Im just adding to my post count.
regua 12-31-2008, 07:05 AM I didn't lock it because people were supporting the idea of Extra Life in 2009. I locked it because most of the posts were people saying "I'm in" or "good idea", and there would be a lot more of them. If you want to organize it locally - feel free to start a thread. If you want to discuss the event - feel free to start a thread. But asking a question "would anyone else participate in it" is just pointless.
Diortem 12-31-2008, 07:21 AM Ah... I see... I figured those kind of posts were unavoidable, but the idea to organize locally had come across there, so it just seemed the natural developement of the thread itself. I didnt see those as anything more then... well... usual forum static. Didnt even cross my mind to concider them beyond that.
As for a thread on local support, not till I have something a little more solid to work with. (And that, my friend, is already in the wings.)
nopain14 12-31-2008, 01:01 PM Extra Life is the best charity ever I think I only raised 75 dollars last this time I will get the full amount this time!!!
kim andre 12-31-2008, 01:13 PM supporting extra life?

Who cares? Does SG have to pay a premium for every reply on these forums? Seriously, I think there is way too much moderation on this site. The Thread is already there, and people are making use of it, why cut it short?

Moderation has been and will be here, whether you like it or not. And this is not a chatroom, so two-word posts will not be tolerated.

Well then bring on the SG chatroom!
I'm sorry, I think it's silly is all. I didn't say we don't need moderators. I said we don't need over zealous moderators. Isn't that Che in your avatar? Isn't "freedom" and a 'less moderation' policy something he preached?

So you're saying that someones avatar reflects how they're going to act on the forums? In that case, my avatar is a comic character thing, which makes me act like a comic on the forums? No.
And yeah, Che did stand up for freedom etc. but it was a different situation for him. He was fighting for freedom on forums, he was fighting for freedom in real life.
The best thing to say is if you don't like the 'moderation' here, don't stay here. Why do you think there is so few ass holes on these forums? Because if people act like ass holes they'll be banned. So you're saying thats a bad thing?
regua 01-01-2009, 12:55 PM And actually, it's Che with Leonidas' face.

Shane86 01-01-2009, 03:00 PM If Che made an angry face you probably wouldn't notice the difference.

Oh Viatrophy, don't get your panties in a twist. I never said moderation is bad. I never said we shouldn't moderate the people who act like idiots. I did say, we shouldn't moderate people that use one line posts to say "YES, I SUPPORT EXTRALIFE 09!!!" All that I said was what harm was that thread causing? Who cares if the question asked provoked two word responses. The thread had good intentions!
Back to whats-his-faces comparison of moderators to cops... We need cops! Absolutely! But I don't need a cop giving me a ticket for jaywalking if I walk down the side of the road with one foot on the sidewalk and one foot on the road. That's overzealous.
Sheesh, forget I said anything Mr. Moderators

i never noticed that! hahaha that's awesome!
and, just to throw in my on-topic two-cents, I'm sure my community would love to help out. There are a few gaming centers around town I could talk to about sponsoring the event at their places even.

So wait, two word posts are bad but two cents posts are ok?
