Did it stop while playing a song?

If it did, then wait for the bat to die and charget it for only 2 minutes. After, re-play the song, if it fs up again, then remove that song. It happened to me once with the older 20GB model while listening to an episode of Podtacular.

Or, in a lesser not worse case scenario, hold down the down button and the back button at the same time, that will re-set it.

Damn it, you beat me to it

Wouldn't it be funny if this was a really bad joke by some disgruntled Microsoft employee.

Here's a guide on how (http://gizmodo.com/5121618/how-to-revive-dead-zunes-30s) to fix your Zune (Some Disassemble Required) If you really need to have it working now then this is your best shot till Microsoft get's their act together.

Aparently the world 30 gig zunes are al dieing at once but should be fixed by next year. Take a look at the link http://gizmodo.com/

Acording to some people its being caused by the zune clock being off due to some leap year thing or something to that nature. Just a rumor but it did sound plausable.

Just be aware if you take apart your zune you void the warranty... Im just holding out till they get a fix for it, or better yet issue a recall and give me a fully working 80g in replacement for it.

Its the date thing, they crash on the 31th of December 2008, not programmed for 2009 it seems, wait till Microsoft patches it, or remove the battery and re insert it, set your pc time back a year and plug it it, i hear that works.

(This seems only for the 30GB ones, the "older" ones...)

(The Y2K bug, just 8-9 years late and missed its target some what )

Ok Microsoft says that their fix for the Z2K9 problem is to wait till New Year (http://gizmodo.com/5121822/official-fix-for-the-zune-30-fail). It's caused by the leap year. See you guys here 4 years from now.

Something similar happened to me with my 4gb Zune. All you have to do is let the battery run out and then charge it up again.

It's called the Y2K bug, it happened to computers around the world nine years ago. They for some reason cannot calculate the year change

Actually, the Y2K bug was only for the year 2000. That was when the so-called "experts" predicted that most computers would think it was the year 1900, due to the "99" going to "00". I'm not sure how that would really have affected anything...it was just a bunch of bull.

This is different. This is due to the Zune not being able to handle the leap year, or something similar, from what I've read.

I agree with Vinc3nt, get an iPod! Sheesh. I despise Zune.

It was because when they wrote code in the 60-80s they only used 2 digit dates to save memory. The wory was that when the date went from 99-00 the internal clocks would read it as 1900 vs 2000. What this would effect would be how banks calculate interest, log file dates errors in SSL certificates and many other things that rely on date at all.

There were some minor problems, but alot of work was done prior to it occuring to minimize any affects. It wasn't a bunch of bull, it could have been a very serious problem. Of course the media hyped it way up for headlines.

That is funny I have a 30 gig zune and it happen to me about 2 days ago. I was so pissed, I was about ready to throw it into the wall. I had no idea that this happen to a lot of other 30 gig zune owners. I tried to get my zune to reset about 4 times with no luck. I would run the battery down and then try recharging the zune and letting it reboot on its own. I finally got it to work this morning. I thought that I was going to be in the market of another mp3 player.
