Good show ladies. I totally agree that 09 looks kinda slim for games, but lets hope that something good (besides Bioshock2) happens.

You shows have gotten better and better over time. I thought your first show or two were almost train wrecks, but you have all gotten much better. You have really worked into your own niche and I always look forward to your podcasts.

And shame on Jax for the anti-ps3 zinger (only you (harley) and nobody else wants it). Be carefull or your going to find yourself in the PS3 doghouse with Lono ;)

You ladies do make me :lol:

Can you do one of your play dates earlier in the day so that you can get some of us Europeans in the mix?

And may 2009 bring you all the Wii butt's you want - with none of the Wii Knees!

I think the fact that Dogsdie sent cookies to Leslie is related to the "Interview" with Lesley on the latest Panda Watch.

Do check it out if you haven't.

So you think maybe we should give her an ultimatum?? Like...get your gamerscore or you're fired??

In the good ole days when I was in the USAF we always used a little bit of fun humiliation to motivate people. Most of the time it was having to carry a painted brick around with you everywhere for a week.

You could try something like 'Get it done or you have to do a 2 min video on Wii Yoga' etc. You can also spice it up by adding a bonus 'If you get 1.5k Lono has to do the 2 min Wii Yoga video... in hot pink spandex'.

Honestly, Id go easy on her gamerscore wise... after all, there are many games outside of the 360 sphere.

I'd also agree with what ccwhite is posting, on the Red show when Dave or Doc did something wrong or lost a bet they would have to change their names or Doc had to write a song

A good punishment would be her having to do a video or something that way it benefits the site and gets a point across.

Great show too :] Wish it came out more often

I have a few game recommendations for Lesley. Well on the 360. Hexic HD, Viva Pinata, and Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise are pretty good games for a new gamer.

Viva Pinata are great games for new gamers, but Hexic HD can be devilishly difficult for both new gamers and achievement hunters alike.

May I suggest PGR4, Crackdown, Lips, Shaun White Snowboarding, Spiderman: Web of Shadows, and definitely, definitely, the Lego series. Lego Indiana Jones and Lego Star Wars are really fun. I haven't played Lego Batman, so I'm not going to know if it is as entertaining as its predecessors, but those games are really good for first-timers.

Oh, and for clarity, my name is the fish, not the game.

Great show ladies, keep up the great work... And Wii Fit is surprisingly good. But Samba De Amigo is better.

Hmmm... I don't think that will work since... Well.. Doc is the boss. Plus... I have faith in Lesley! Gamer score is something she may never get. And thats fine. I have a gamer score of just over 5000... not much but I still consider myself as a gamer.

What she needs to do... like a summer reading project in school. Is pick a game and finnish it. Give her 3 weeks to finnish the game. More then enough time to play it every other day. It doesn't even matter if she has a gamerguide. As long as she starts and finnishes/beats a game... then I would then crown her as a gamer.

Now this shouldn't be "Are you smarter then a 5th grader" or "Boom Blocks". This should be "Fable II" or "Zelda" on the Wii. These games have stories, and eases you into the game as if you never played before.

If they have an old Gamecube controller... I'll send her Eternal Darkness. (Best game I have ever played).

Forget all the arcade games. They are for a quick fix. Let her get involved in a story and get to know some charicters.

This wil give you something to talk about and won't lable her on a gamerscore.

So that is my take...

That is a very good shout.
I agree with you there Frawlz. A gamerscore target is more of a challenge, and less of a completion feel than finishing a top title game. Find a game that you'll really like Lesley, and play it, and try to finish it. I don't think that the console should matter though. There are some great titles for other consoles that you could play.

My recommendation would have to be Super Mario 64. If you get the game off of the Virtual Console section of the Wii, and use a gamecube controller, or even get ahold of an N64 with the game, then that would be a great way for you to start.

It's an iconic game in video gaming, and I believe that it paved the way for the next step in video gaming, and I use it as a benchmark for most games I play based on entertainment value, purely because of how much fun I had while playing that game. That and Ocarina of Time, Banjo Kazooie and Goldeneye 007.

Actually, an N64 with those games would be a great way to start.

Go back before you go forwards.

Lego series is probably a really good idea. Star Wars is much better than Indiana Jones - I havn't tried Batman yet.

I think the Super Mario's are probably a bad idea. They can get frustrating in the middle levels. The Lego's are much easier, everybody already knows the Star Wars story lines and there is lots of good humor in them as well.

Why is everyone pitching young kid games... and girly games. Let's get her into a story line that makes her want to run home and play... enough with all the cute crap.

Any suggestions guys???

I am still offoring up Eternal Darkness Lesley!!! Does doc have a Gamecube?

That's a really generous offer!

Oh, and Lego Indiana Jones is hardcore! Lego Star Wars The Original Trilogy is actually fairly challenging to play it through. The Complete Saga is a long haul also. All six episodes can take a very long time.

I know I've made a lot of suggestions but...

May I suggest Assassin's Creed?
Really in-depth storyline, innovative gameplay, fun to run around, some sandbox feel, generally advanced system, but with a surprisingly easy to grasp gameplay logistic, and some nice variation between missions and side quests.

I bought it for $15 a week ago and I've had a blast reliving the game.

I am fairly sure Wii plays gamecube games... I think.

Just because a game isn't bloody or FPS doesn't mean its a good game that pulls you in. BUT, If your looking for a good FPS, I would pick Bioshock almost every other game. Great, super, awesome environment and story line.

Frawlz...you really think this ONE game will make her a gamer?? What if she doesn't like it? She already has Fable II and likes it and wants to finish it. I'm sorry...gamerscore just seems like an easy way to gage if a person is finishing games or not. It gives you a goal to work towards. Sheesh! You want to mail her a copy of Eternal Darkness then I will MAIL her my freaking Gamecube. How about them apples?? I bet she still doesn't like games any more after the fact. Wanna make a bet?

How about 360voice.com? What it does is it sets up a fake blog that creates entries about games you play and how you progress in them.... my xbox blog is http://360voice.gamerdna.com/tag/ccwhite (you can tell I have been away a while from my complaining xbox). Its quick and easy to set up and after you do that you don't have to worry about it.

You can issue challenges between people, keep track of them etc.

Just an idea of something besides gamerscore.

QFT... and because I still love the break line.

But seriously.... who cares which system if she's playing games! And playing for gamer score can so often ruin the emmersion factor of a game. (I mean, life or death against a deamon, but I have to run this way and collect pointless item 53 to get something completely unrelated to the game! DAMN I HATE ACHIEVMENTS!)

Gamerscore is a good way to see if a person has finished a game but in many games there are additional achievements that require more than finishing the main objective.

Leslie, you seem to take to the arcade games, why don't we designate you XBLA NotAReviewer? They tend to be simple pick up and play games, and you can also fill your quota of gamerscore! Most people don't consider arcade games "hardcore" so they would also give you less crap about them. I've had good luck getting my girlfriend weened into gaming via the XBLA.

Keep up the great work ladies. My girl and I still love looking forward to the show every week.

ScudMuffin...that's a pretty good idea. There are a lot of silly/fun/interesting arcade games out there and some pretty crummy ones too...we could make her play those as punishment. Yaris anyone?? Too bad that one is gone.

Olsen: I haven't had the Boone's since High School....lol but I ain't too proud to beg!

Sog: Thanks for continuing to try and get me more booze :) I'm unemployed again starting today so my wine budget is currenty nothing. My mom did let it slip last night about where a bottle of rum is hidden in the house though...hee heee...so I should be good for this weeks show.

This is random, but going back to show 2 I think, y'all mentioned 'gamer bars' and whether they could work. Over the last couple of years at University of Georgia there has been a phenomena of wii's going into every bar in Athens (about 30 or so). Wii sports has become another form of darts or pool usually with its own HD TV. It has been kind of surreal to walk into a college bar and see all kinds of people playing video games, but its great to see gaming brought to a wider audience..... Just thought y'all would want to know.

I have to agree with Frawlz. We need to find games the Lesley really enjoys playing. Those games that she'll think about playing all day long. Or, maybe I'm the only person that does that... Gaming is no fun if you're not enjoying the games that your playing. I definitely think she needs more group gaming. I know that I can have tons of on a game that's not really a favorite when I have a group of people playing with me. So, I think the idea of more Pink gaming nights is a great idea... plus, I really had fun on the last one too.

Great show ladies. Don't worry Lesley, we'll get that gamerscore up!
