View Full Version : Gears of War for Pc
Virtue 11-06-2007, 09:47 PM Anybody have any thoughts about it? It looks really amazing but I don't see how the specs are supposed to be low? Unreal Editor is the thing I'm looking forward too.
Has anybody got it yet?

PacManPolarBear 11-06-2007, 10:42 PM Hope to have my copy by tomorrow afternoon, I will let you all know what it is like.
chrispenny 11-06-2007, 11:29 PM I'll probably d/l it...
I've already finished it once of 360, so, I'm not going to pay for it again.
grunt birthday clown 11-07-2007, 01:43 AM im not going to buy it...played on the xbox hated the game...just didnt like it...
Apathy 11-07-2007, 02:51 AM is it out in america now? aussies dont get it till 19th :( bugger
grunt birthday clown 11-07-2007, 03:18 AM lol us too (israelis)
MadMikeMan 11-07-2007, 08:47 AM I wan't the other 5 chapters so much, but my comp might explode if I even put that in it.
RawSwedishpoweR 11-07-2007, 10:44 AM I want it =D played it at my friends place on Xbox, and it was really fun :] so I'll prolly buy it ^^ assuming my machine can handle it :p
iPlayPC 11-07-2007, 11:16 AM I'm gonna get it, 5 more levels or whatever sounds great
Bauer22 11-07-2007, 12:46 PM Well I dont have a computer that could handle it but even if I did I doubt I would. I mean Gears campaign was great but I just dont like the MP. Too hardcore for me. I mean I dont want to be waiting for the end of a game because I made a bad move. I'm more of a Halo/CoD guy myself.
PacManPolarBear 11-07-2007, 02:23 PM Well I finally got some time with it and I am pretty happy. The graphics are of course noticeably better. The new missions are great, but feel a bit off compared to the core game. Honestly though, if you have a nice rig, I'd go with COD4 or Crysis.
But if you never played through on the 360, this game is well worth the loot.
TKPeanut 11-07-2007, 04:36 PM don't buy it for PC. Releasing console games like that on PC sould be a crime.....

If you already played it on 360 than ya, spend your money elsewhere. But if you have not, without question the PC version is superior.

Right back at ya dude, Orange box ringing a bell?
Virtue 11-07-2007, 05:49 PM I've played it once on xbox 360 and loved it, but i put cash on a computer instead.. i still dont c how they said that it would be able to run on most pc's thought.

Hahahahahahaha! Dude you ****in pwned him.
Virtue 11-08-2007, 03:51 PM i know im probably going to get flammed for this but just to make sure... I'm probably going to buy gears of war but its minimum systeme requirements are 2.4 intel ghz processor but the probleme is that i have a 2.0 but its dual core. Does anybody know if ill be abl to run it ?

of course you can! 2Ghz dualcore is much much better than a 2.4ghz pentium .
chrispenny 11-08-2007, 04:56 PM I guess you don't remember that long ass post I made about when choosing a PC? More specifically the CPU part.
Virtue 11-08-2007, 04:59 PM lol, my bad. jk i cheaped out though because i need money for snowboarding this winter.
Sn4tcH 11-08-2007, 05:52 PM Haven't picked it up yet, but Gamespot (who are pretty harsh on most games) gave it a 9 and called it the "definitive version" of the game. I'm glad I waited to play it on PC.
I got the game today (for PC of course).
It's actually pretty sweet!
I've only been playing single player though, but I'm happy with this purchase so far. :)
Keyboard / Mouse controls work great.
From the gameplay, you can't really tell that this was ported from a console.
The only downsides were:
* OMG it took friggin' long to install this! (about an hour I think)
* Setting up Windows Live was a bit of a hassle as well...
But all in all, it turned out great and it's a great gaming experience!
Can't wait to finish Single Player and try some of that Multiplayer.
PS:
I don't see why half the games for windows have to start using the *LIVE* network though.
They should keep that stricly for xbox.
Screw you MS...
Keep the PC multiplayers free instead of fscking around with Silver and Gold accounts >.>
RawSwedishpoweR 11-10-2007, 01:39 PM well gaming the old fashioned way will be free anyways
Normal PC multiplayer is still free even for Games For Windows - Live titles but cross-platform gaming isn't.

Yeah, but come on...
Half the multiplayer options are for Gold members only.
Multiplayer achievements, ranked matches, statistics, etc etc...
Plus, instead of being able to run dedicated servers from server companies, you have to host a game yourself.
I mean, what's that all about...
Sure games like StarCraft, Diablo and others can pull that off.
(Note: Battle.net has always been 100% free!)
But a live shooter? I dunno...
It just doesn't feel right.
Imho, they fscked up multiplayer for the PC.
Looking at Windows LIVE... it makes me like Steam a WHOLE LOT more!

Haha, yeah that is saying quite a bit. I for one hate using Steam but it's a system that works.:o
And I agree that maybe Microsoft is taking their money-grabbing act a little too far this time. I mean, look at Vista Retail is priced 2.5X of Vista OEM.
