Turned on Cod 4 other day and almost no one was on. It seems that it has past it's prime.

An amazing game that we loved

Thanks Cod we love you...

Are you kidding? I was just playing last night, and we had no problem finding a game. I played the previous night before that, and almost every night last week. I have not had a problem finding a match since CoD4 came out. Maybe it's dead on the PS3, I don't know. I play it on the 360 and it's alive and well. In fact I think it's still in the top 3 (or maybe it's 5) most played Xbox Live games.

"good concept poor execution" of thread. COD4 will be alive for at least another year and even after COD5 MW2 comes out there will still be some hard core players there just like COD2 and SOCOM 2.

Its still in the top 5 most played games on XBL. I have to say that it's not as popular as it was before. I feel left out sometimes when everyone's playing W@W, and I send them an invite to play COD4...they never come.

It's because they're suckers for mediocrity.

I don't think that COD 4 players have completely disappeared, I just think there's a lot less than there used to be. The three main types of people that are still playing it are either:

1. Haters of Treyarch and WWII
2. Don't want to pay for another similar CoD game
3.Spent a lot of time getting to a high rank in the game and don't want to start again in a new one

4. Just got the game a.k.a. late to the party.

I actually fit into types 1 and 2, as well as type 4. :wink2:

I disagree, many of the people I play with as well as myself have been playing since day 1 because we just love the game. I love the perks, the weapons, the attachments, the ranking and unlock system, and pretty much everything about cod4. I've purchased alot of the big releases this year, and played them all online, including cod5, which was also alot of fun, but I still pay Modern Warfare a visit about once a day. I don't know what it is, but no other game has really been able to match the addictiveness of call of duty 4.

Oh well, if they're successful with the ideas they're implementing for Modern Warfare 2, CoD4 will be relegated to the dustbins. That is... if you like limb based damaged and reactions.

i couldn't vote because i'm a lowly PC gamer...

COD4 is great, but not good enough to receive a proper burial.

leave that to COD:UO!

I started playing CoD4 again and to my surprise there were more low ranked prestige1 players online than a few months ago. Instead of my average 8-15 kills per game I got more than 20 and there were a bunch of sniper-noobs standing on walls or car roofs without any cover. I love that game and I will stay online till the last server is shut down!

I'm with you brother! That game is the best shooter I've ever played (since R6: Rogue Spear). It's not dead it's still very much alive

Indeed. In fact two of my friends JUST got the game last week. Still lots of new people.

Just finished another hour or so session. No problems finding matches.

CoD4 won't realy die, it'll be like Halo 2. Even in four or five years time there'll be 10,000 or so gamers online still playing, still trying to join the mile high club...

Yeah it'll take 2 years before you won't be able to find a game of COD4. The game sold about 8 million copies so.... yeah. Thread= Fail

Serial? Like Fallout, but pure FPS?

I just wonder...will it still be possible to play ALL 3 CODs (CoD4, CoD:WaW and CoD4-2)
online at the end of 2009? Are the servers run by Infinity ward/Treyarch or Microsoft? Isnt it too "costly" to run 3 games of the same franchise at the same time on three different "online-server-sysems"?

Cheese

Well yeah Cody eventually the servers will be shut down one by one. They'll leave them for another 1-2 years though hopefully.

I'm another late to the party player, because its got cheaper now that World at War is out, and i'm sure that there will be many more like me (bloody poor people), as the game didn't drop in value at all until now.

One question from an admitted noob, are all the games unranked, 'cos my sucky arse is getting blown to smithereens by big boys.

All the games are ranked except for custom matches, in which you can't get XP. There is a background matchmaking system (True Skill), though, just give it some time to figure out where to match you when you search for a game.

I want to know what console/platform the OP is playing COD4 on. I've been playing COD4 again a lot over the past month or so and there is still crap load of people playing it.
A lot of people who played WaW have gone back to COD4 because it being allround a better game.

Me, and the friends I play CoD with, did exactly that. We just prefer the weapons in CoD4. Plus we all hate artillery strikes.
