ccwhite 01-22-2009, 04:45 AM I can see it now - when wheelman comes out the entire pink show will be playing this game only, just so they can have Vin Diesel at their command
Also, Zune marketplace does not have a method to leave feedback or rate podcasts :(
MightyMutt 01-22-2009, 08:17 AM A pleasure to listen to you as always
One thing though, I'm not sure how much Lesley will like Skate 2 - I don't want to put you off, but if there was one common complaint about the first game, it was that the controls were quite hard and the sequel supposedly is more tricky and spends less time teaching you what to do. I know how you don't like your games to be frustrating and I don't think you'll have fun with the game.
Even Poker Smash is quite hard to get to grips with. Can I suggest Boogie Bunnies, as I game I think you will like. It was one of my favourite XBLA titles last year, is simple and fun to play, you can hook up and play co-op with Doc & the kids too. It was also a favoured game of Kelly aka Mrs LeftyBrown of the Married Gamers. You could download the demo to see what you think.
Oh and Jax, I loved Full Auto, great game, met some really good people playing it online and have regretted trading it in. Now that you've reminded me about it I might have to check out the sequel - now that I have a PS3!
DeathByWaffle 01-22-2009, 08:20 AM Been thinking of trying skate 2, I liked most of the Tony Hawk games.
Good episode again .
Ventilaator 01-22-2009, 08:24 AM Lesley, be sure to play the demo for Skate 2 first.
I consider myself a gamer, and I was struggling with the controls for a while.
You said that you like the Tony Hawk games, and you like to do tricks, you press a button, and it works.
Well, it doesn´t work that way in Skate, the game tries to be as realistic as possible, so tricks are way more difficult to do.
And about the Game VS Gore thing...
I could totally see the test working like this:
I am walking into their test area. Then they give me Dead Space with guts splattering out of ugly aliens, and after that Dead Space with happy bunnies flowing out of cute kittens.
Then they ask me, did I like the first one better?
I say that the second one was kinda pointless.
And the next day I see a newspaper headline: "Gamers LUST for BLOOD, new study shows how gamers need guts to enjoy a game"
Lesley 01-22-2009, 10:36 AM Thanks for all the tips! I may have to skip the Skate game now!
MM-I have played Boogie Bunnies, and I do like it!
Harlequin 01-22-2009, 11:13 AM I was so addicted to Boogie Bunnies. GREAT recommendation MM!
djdsf 01-22-2009, 04:41 PM I posted this a while back (http://sarcasticgamer.com/forums/showpost.php?p=273111&postcount=39), I don't think you read it, but I think i covered what you said in a more blunt/meeh sort of way.
choco 01-22-2009, 04:45 PM good show got a nice little laugh out of it.
Harlequin 01-22-2009, 05:19 PM I posted this a while back (http://sarcasticgamer.com/forums/showpost.php?p=273111&postcount=39), I don't think you read it, but I think i covered what you said in a more blunt/meeh sort of way.
I did read it but since part of the audience doesn't read the forums it was worth addressing on the show
ccwhite 01-22-2009, 06:40 PM Don't skip skate - rent it and give it a try. The basic controls are not difficult, but to be able to do the more advanced tricks isn't easy.
WetMouse 01-22-2009, 06:53 PM I didnt get to listen yet...sigh damn zune died.....also on a note from your last weeks podcast drinking is ok when your gaming....esp little big planet lol:lol:
SugarFree 01-22-2009, 08:00 PM not sure if it was mentioned but you can get to the community blogs from the front page. Left Panel. Signature Content. Link #5.

Harlequin 01-22-2009, 09:45 PM Thank you SugarFree! You THINK we would've known that...
JaXboxChick 01-23-2009, 08:38 AM I'd like to say for the record that I did a shoutout for DARKWONDERS at the end that was cut off. Thanks again for letting me be on your last episode of the Livecast. It hasn't aired yet :) But it was fun to do.
DeathByWaffle 01-23-2009, 12:53 PM I'd like to say for the record that I did a shoutout for DARKWONDERS at the end that was cut off. Thanks again for letting me be on your last episode of the Livecast. It hasn't aired yet :) But it was fun to do.
I am not dark, but thanks .
It was fun, I am almost done editing the episode, will send it in soon.
Gir15 01-23-2009, 01:43 PM about the Game Vs. Gore, I don't mind the Gore if it doesn't take over the game. To sue Halo 3 as a example, the Gore is shown for shots, Gears of War for me is a little too much but is necessary.
For the female gamer topic, I have a female friend who was a hidden gamer until a few months before Halo 3 came out and she couldn't stop talking about it. Another female friend hates gaming..... but she has a 360, Wii, PSP, and a DS and spent the last weekend playing Kingdom Hearts for 12 hours straight
PacManPolarBear 01-23-2009, 03:44 PM I'm Canadian so staying puft is easy! :wink2:
I'm borrowing Fable 2 for the weekend...better be worth it! J/K
The show gets better every single episode, wish we could steal some of your hilarity sometimes...I hope it is not an ovary related ability, because if so I think Frawlz is the only one we can convince to have an operation.
Keep it up ladies! All pink, all the time!
Billy 01-23-2009, 05:34 PM Game vs Gore : I couldn't care less if there was blood in a game (and yes i am a guy) or any kind of gore I've played it both ways and relly it dosn't relly matter to me only some games (HL2) gore is needed to beef the game up.
anyway great show as always ladies.
Censored 69 01-24-2009, 03:41 PM Thanks for answering my question ladies =)
I do definitely lead a double life when it comes to gaming and decided there’s no point hiding it anymore.
My Xbox now has plenty space to breathe.
Freedom Frogg 01-24-2009, 07:38 PM New listener to your show. Just thought I'd stop by and tell you how much I enjoy it! It's great to hear a ladies perspective on the gaming culture. Keep up the good work!
Kauser Kirgan 01-25-2009, 11:43 PM Game Vs Gore: The gore has to be part of the immersion, which needs to be stylistically and thematically appropriate. For instance, in Dead Space, the blood smears on the walls, and environmental effects make me more nervous than the actual monster encounters. The fact that you can kick the ragdoll body parts down the walkway instead of treading over them really ruins the deal. On the other hand, I still laugh my ass off when Alex drills Judge Holloway in Silent Hill Homecoming. The whole kill room scene is so ludicrous; almost out of place. Though both are Horror games, and the threat of gore is something that does need to be there.
At the far other end of the spectrum, it would be hard to take gore seriously in any Sonic or Mario game. Cartoon characters really shouldn't bleed.
In the middle, there are games like Half Life, Fall Out 3, Halo, etc, and here it's a yes and no deal. The focus winds up being either the action, or the story, so gore winds up being an accent at best, which still needs to be appropriate for what's going on, and assist with immersion. Fallout 3 is probably the strangest out of all of the ones mentioned. It has a rather robust gibs, which, is somewhat rare to RPGs. In the end, it wasn't out of place, but it also wouldn't have been missed either, which probably has to do with it's FPS nature. In HL2, and Halo, I don't think gore would add anything, and to tell the truth Team Fortress 2's full body explosions also wouldn't be missed.
This is, of course, all my opinion.
SuperNinjaGirlActual 01-26-2009, 01:28 PM Great episode!!
I've always been an out of the closet gamer, sometimes overly so... if the topic even gets brought up around friends or coworkers, I need a vice to shut my mouth
Personally, I want at least a realistic level of gore. But on some games I wish there were options-- like Fallout 3; every VAT-kill results in an over the top, cheezy blood and guts montage. On Fallout 1&2 you could turn the gore level down. It just seems like an easy fix they could include in video games to satisfy both the concerned parties and anti-censorship advocates.
I readily admit to being a gamer and even brag that I got my love of video games from my mother, a love my brother and I share. Although, I then have to admit that my mother is still stuck on her old atari system and refuses to even try modern games no matter how much I try to drag her into the 21 century.
That was pretty interesting what you guys were saying about Game vs. Gore. I have to admit I was kind of surprised that Gore didnt play as big a factor as I thought it would. I think watching too many "torture porn" films like Hostel has taught me to believe that all people want is gore. Glad to see Im wrong.
Quinstar 01-27-2009, 10:14 AM Hey ladies! I forgot to post after I listened the first time, so since it had been awhile i gave it another listen to refresh my memory before posting.
Another enteraining show as usual. Your shows just keep getting better and better.
As far as guys getting their gf's into gaming. Some of them just need to accept the fact that not all girls enjoy video games. Pushing her into it isn't going to help. Guys don't generally like to shop and dragging them all over the mall to different stores isn't going to change that. If she wants to game, help her pick out something she likes. Otherwise, be happy that she lets you game. If she ends up enjoying game, bonus for you.
rwethereyet 01-31-2009, 02:55 AM I don't know, I wasn't to into gaming when I met my fiancee, but he was persistent to get me to pay with him and now i'm hooked. Recently I injured my knee rollerskating and my fiancee got me left 4 dead, I didn't think i'd be into such a zombie shooter (I'm very skiddish and jumped like a spring hare when I first played halo). But by hell that game had me enthralled for several swear-word filled hours, well that and fable 2 (I still can't figure out how to get the threesome achievement XP). Now my friends and his friends all gather together to play video games on Saturday nights, it's a blast!(and probably loud enough to be heard from the moon:lol:)
