View Full Version : What does everyone think of the FEAR 2 demo.......
Bandus 01-23-2009, 11:29 AM I only played it on the PC but loved every minute of it. Monolith really knows how to make creepy atmospheres and the firefights were great as well. I'm probably going to try it on the 360 but I was curious what everyone else thinks.
Diortem 01-23-2009, 02:00 PM PC player here too... loved it... absolutely cant wait to play this in its entirety. (I will, but DAMN it will be tough.) I dont like analog sticks for FPS, so this is THE platform for me on it...
Iruga 01-23-2009, 03:02 PM I played the 360 one i'll get it on the pc later to make it look really pretty :) The part with the lockers is pretty messed up. The mech was a little confusing i was trying to punch stuff and switch weapons. It seem to blow up pretty fast. I really enjoyed the first game I look forward to getting it on the PC.
T3mpus Fugit 01-23-2009, 03:13 PM The game creaters obviously got confused, and accidentally made a game instead of a movie. This is no bad thing, but it is (maybe a bit too?) cinematic. To be honest, it isn't my kind of thing.
badcaseofheadcrabs 01-23-2009, 03:36 PM I loved the cinematics. I was very surprised at the amount of polish they added since the last time I saw it. The first 5-6 minutes of the demo were pretty frightning and the amount of joy and bliss I got from it overall was very surprising. It seems like they definitely upped the freaky scale from the first one.
nick10234 01-23-2009, 03:43 PM I love this demo. I have only played it on my pc though. Might try it for my 360 later.
mashedPenguin 01-23-2009, 03:56 PM I had a good time with it. Feels like a good sequel to FEAR. I think I will be renting it at least. Don't know about buying it, I don't think it will have much replay value.
bluec1988 01-23-2009, 06:05 PM loved the spdemo i cant wait to play the story and multiplayer monolith really pulled an ace out of the hole. Also TY WB studios for publishing them you will not regret it
viatrophy 01-24-2009, 06:02 AM I'm sure there was already a thread on this, but its vanished.
Anyhoo... I love it, simple. So very, very tempted to pick the game up when its launched.
Killgraft 01-24-2009, 10:35 AM Just DLd and about to play it, and Im already scared.
Kiljoy 01-24-2009, 04:47 PM grest gane, perfect for my trittons.

I don't like games that are gory just for the sake of it.
Kiljoy 01-24-2009, 06:53 PM I don't feel like it's that way, it's one of the few action horror games that has scared me, and I do feel a little satisfied when I kill an enemy.
RedRainRises 01-25-2009, 03:39 PM Not interested in this game so havent played it
LEGEND 01-25-2009, 04:14 PM I'm too scared to play it.
It's like Dead Space all over again for me...
Galtonia 01-26-2009, 05:50 PM I'm with legend, I've downloaded it, but i'm waiting for a brave moment to play it. I'm like a stick of rock with the word "Coward" written all the way through me.
McDuff14 01-27-2009, 03:57 AM It kind of reminded me of Killzone. The way the enemys moved and looked aprt ofcourse from the evil woman and creepy paranormal goings on.
I thoroughly enjoyed it and might consider picking it up.
Altis1 01-27-2009, 11:57 AM Plays great an looks more natural than FEAR 1, but their version of motion blur kinda looks like crap. Looking around made it seem like the guy you are playing as is loaded on reds. Its also too dark with that pathetic excuse for a flashlight. Most modern cell phones are able to pump out more lumen than that flashlight.
Ala Douche 01-28-2009, 09:52 AM i like it... it definitely does a good job at the whole making you paranoid and shooting at air thing. when the ghosts show up then it's mixed with little flashes of other stuff, i often found myself shooting when nothing was there.
Ventilaator 01-29-2009, 04:30 AM People always say that if you want to be a horror game, you need to have bad controls, fixed camera angles, and a lead character who couldn't win a fight against a 3 year old.
The first FEAR I thought handled this pretty well and managed to still be scary, it gave you big guns and super powers, but still showed that you are easily beaten by scaring you shitless and putting you into situations where you totally forgot you were even holding a rocket launcher and you just wanted to get away from that room you were in.
So I play the second one, and hey, here's this super armor that makes you totally invincible, is that scary or what?
I do hope there's some crazy supernatural shit in store for the super armor section...

People said that about survival horror games, which this is not. It's the same problem people had about dead space, they tried to categorize it as a survival horror, but it had too good of a combat system, and people got confused.

Fear is still a horror game, and there's nothing scary about being invincible.
They didn't do that in the first Fear, so I, a BIG fan of the first one, felt like they messed with the system that works too much.
And you should never-ever mess with a system that works.
It's still a minor annoyance, and I will definitely get the game no matter how they end up handling the power armor scenes.

Dude... some of the scariest stuff between FEAR AND ITS EXPANSIONS were things that left you helpless but to watch, witness, and pray they didnt come after you afterwards. They didnt HAVE to touch you to scare you.
Aside from the pit-deamons... first time that happened I jumped out of my seat.
Killgraft 01-29-2009, 09:52 AM You can have a survival horror game with a good combat system and non-fixed camera angles. You just gotta make the enemies that much stronger and faster, and give you less ammo. That preconception is horrible. Its not that its not possible, its just no one does it, for whatever reason.
I always thought I good idea for a health system in a survival horror game would be something like gauntlet's. You're constantly losing health, and you need to keep finding food, while avoiding death at every corner.

I meant invincible as in bunch-of-enemies-shooting-at-you-but-you-won't-die kind of way.
If you were watching something you weren't invincible, there just wasn't anything killing you.
Diortem 01-30-2009, 06:55 AM But could you be sure it would stay that way? And did you REALLY want to find out? FEAR has always been excellent at playing with that. (And there are times in the game where you have choices... run or die... Alma's REAL good at doing that to you.)
