View Full Version : Films to Games.
I Can Stop Time 01-24-2009, 05:10 PM Hey all,
Many of you may know of the upcomming Ghostbusters game (which i am looking most forward to ) But this is a game made from a film and i cant actually remeber a time when i really enjoyed a game adapted from a film (apart from some star wars games). The soul reason i am looking forward to it is because it is ghostbusters and I grew up watching those films (90s FTW ) so this leads me to a question what games that were adapted from films were actually worth playing for more than an hour? and another question: What films would you like to see becomming games?
Kiljoy 01-24-2009, 05:14 PM King Kong was a good one.
DeathByWaffle 01-24-2009, 11:44 PM I just got Quantum of Solace and it surprisingly decent.
Ala Douche 01-25-2009, 12:31 AM goldeneye... best film to game ever.
godslabrat 01-25-2009, 02:27 AM GoldenEye 007 for the N64, followed by Batman: The Video Game for the NES. Those are the only two I can really remember as being not just adequate, but damn good.
If (and I do mean IF) the upcoming Star Trek movie is good, I'd like to see a game out of it.
Revenger232 01-25-2009, 03:41 AM When i was about 6-7 when i had my PS2, I found Spongebob games really addictive and fun.
But now that im older, I left them to rust on my shelf.
Quantum of Solace has been funny with me lately. Everytime i shoot a Hutchkinson, it reloads by itself without me pressing Square
eskimopirate 01-25-2009, 01:30 PM Goldeneye and a few Star Wars games are really good. Especially KOTOR
n7ghthawk 01-25-2009, 01:37 PM i would love to get 28 days later and 28 weeks later on xbox
Also I think constantine would work
I am legend
the condemned or battle royale (if you havent seen that find it and watch it)
These would be sweet
Killgraft 01-25-2009, 01:39 PM Death Race I thought could make a cool Twisted Metal clone.
RedRainRises 01-25-2009, 02:13 PM AN HOUR! my good man you have nerves of steel. To answer your question: nothing
Ala Douche 01-25-2009, 03:54 PM i thought there was a constantine game... no?
codinthepocket 01-25-2009, 04:31 PM goldeneye... best film to game ever.
Agreed. That was immense.
Here's my list of the great games based on films:
Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay and Assault on Dark Athena (both are/will be the best movie to game games along with Goldeneye)
Goldeneye N64 - no question.
Star Wars: Battlefront / The Force Unleashed / KOTOR / Jedi Academy / Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith (if they count)
Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring / The Two Towers / Return of the King (RotK had three separate campaigns, all of which were fantastic to play)
Goldeneye: Rogue Agent (not so much the single player, but the multiplayer was surprisingly good)
Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (PC/PS1)
Lego Star Wars / Indiana Jones / Batman
Indiana Jones (PS2 version was very fun, surprisingly)
King Kong (short, but was entertaining while it lasted)
Spider-Man (PS1, not the PS2 versions, apart from maybe Spider-Man 2)
Barnyard (Gamecube - What? It's simple and fun! The mini-games are fun, the game is cheap, and the voiceover work is pretty good.)
The Great Escape (it was a fairly fun game!)
Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events (I know it was a book first, but technically, it was based on the film. Good puzzle-solving fun.)
The Da Vinci Code - I know it was complex and slated, but I liked it.
The Matrix
And, just to note, I've played all of these games bar the upcoming Chronicles of Riddick, which I think will be my favourite, if it fulfils my certain expectations, and I did enjoy all of the games I have listed.
Oh, and I haven't added Ghostbusters because I haven't had any previous experience of any prior games from this franchise, but I'm sure the new one will be good.
EDIT: i thought there was a constantine game... no?
There was, and according to metacritic's reviews and user reviews, it isn't a bad game (http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/xbx/constantine?q=constantine).
I would say that I would like to play it sometime... but I really don't want to that much...
EDIT: To answer your other question, I'd like to see a decent game made out of Kill Bill, 28 Days/Weeks Later (Left4Dead style!), The Spirit, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Braveheart, National Treasure (Da-Vinci Code-style format, but not as complex...) and possibly The Day The Earth Stood Still, but only if they were done well, otherwise the films would be ruined in a sense... not that I'm expecting any of these games to come out in the near future...
n7ghthawk 01-25-2009, 09:39 PM cool constantine was a game nvm then but the others are still good
Ploogle 01-25-2009, 11:59 PM I can't think of any movie games that I've played and liked. Movies that I'd love to see a good game come from are:
1) The Matrix. This has the potential for a very cool game, but all attempts so far have been pretty lame.
2) Batman Begins / The Dark Knight. Seriously, a sandbox Batman game would be pretty good. Granted, you couldn't destroy much with the Tumbler or the game wouldn't be fun, but it would be sweet to run around and play with Batmans nifty gadgets.
3) Iron Man. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make a GOOD Iron Man game. The one they made was apparently not as bad as some, but it still leaves a lot to be desired.
4) Star Wars.
Okay, okay. Let me explain that last one. The only good Star Wars games that I've played have been KOTR and LEGO Star Wars. I've seen The Force Unleashed, and it looks awesome, and I didn't really care for the Battlefront games much. With today's technology, Wii mostly, we can have a 1:1 Lightsaber. What's more, if Nintendo makes a deal with these guys (http://www.emotiv.com/) and gets a Wii adapter for that, we could be seeing real-time brain-controlled Force powers in addition. The Force Unleashed for the Wii didn't look too bad, if you can get past the not-as-good graphics. Assuming Nintendo and Emotiv can cooperate, LucasArts can make the Star Wars game to end all Star Wars games...for the Wii, at least.
I Can Stop Time 01-26-2009, 12:02 PM I must say I have to agree with codinthepocket braveheart would make a pretty sweet game
The Warriors on the first X Box was pretty good too! :)
i love the star wars battlefront games but aside from them i can't think of anything else
