I am utterly speechless after playing that demo... Well actually not speechless seeing as I'm talking about it, but pretty damn close.

This is by far one of the best demos I have played in a long time.
From the opening cut scene to the end of the demo, the game just sucks you in.

The movements, the dialogue, the scenery. They all are wonderfully done. The moment I drop kicked a pirate, I was in love with this game.

This may be a bit biased on my part, but I believe this has got to be the most realistic looking game to date. And I just don't mean the graphics are good. It's how all the characters bring it to life. I can't wait for this game to come out!

They're "claiming" it was unintentional but the "real" UK demo comes out Nov 22nd. They said since the release date was different over there, the guys doing the localization of that demo haven't finished it (it's not one of those "as soon as it's done get it out" things, it's an "X number of days before we hit retail" thing). The US demo wasn't totally tested on other region PS3s (don't worry, the game itself will work fine and not be region coded).

People in the UK are getting black screens and/or "insert disc" prompts. It would've been nice if the demo worked universally, yeah... and it sucks some folks have to wait. But if it helps, the demo's good.

Well the fixed the problem. The demo is no longer region locked.

The enviroment graphics arent that great.... but the animations are superb. The jumps, climbs and movements look great but it really shines in melee, like bending someone over a rock and giving them a good seeing too. Gameplay... yeah its Tomb Raider with a better combat system, should be good.

I'm not saying the graphics are bad by the way, they are just pretty inconsistant. It goes from looking great to looking a touch last gen (like invisible walls with lots of trees for example).

Is it just me or is this water way to nice, I have never seen any body of water that damn shiny and clear, not even in real life.

I am really liking this demo, it's the first demo since SKATE, that i have played through again and again. It's an essential purchase!

My only gripe was the parachute in the main intro...although it looked to me not to be the finished render, and didn't really "fit" with the scene, sticking out like a sore thumb, but then this is a demo, so it's no big problem :)

It is not like tomb raider, not every game set in the jungle with guns is like tomb raider. Also it is at least a 9/10.

you are too ignorant to see that though game's location is like another does not mean they are the same. Games like these have all been done before. The quality is great and it is a lot of fun. Also just because someone disagrees does not make them a fanboy, it means they have an opinion.

You didn't specify... The entire city was ruins... And a lot of it was overgrown with vegetation, so technically it was a jungle like sense...

So if a game is similar in gameplay to another, it gets an automatic 8 out of 10?

Ah ha, now i see where your amazing logic gains extra credibility! Copy any old game, put in Aliens and a Frikkin Jungle, It's then obviously a better game ;)

Guys chill, there is no denying that it looks similar to TR, i can't form an opinion because i haven't played it yet. But if it takes the TR style gameplay and improves on it then does it really matter? If it's a good game it's a good game, regardless of whether or not it's been done before.

Incidentally, someone mentioned it's now no longer region locked. Do i have to re-download it or will the version i downloaded patch itself to work in the UK?

redownload. the version you got was never tested to work on anything other than US machines. The newer release has been...

Cheers rothbart, re-downloaded it last night and managed to play it for 3 minutes before the mrs decided she wanted to tidy and vacuum the lounge, so didn't get a good feel for it. I did like what i saw though, i liked the natural way movements flowed into one another, such as climbing up rocks etc. It wasn't a case of cutting one animation dead in it's tracks and starting another set-piece animation, it was a lot smoother if that makes sense. Was it just me or does this guy seem to not be able to jump very high at all? Could be i'm just so used to game characters with super human strength being able to jump twice their own body height lol.

I know what you mean... I just picked up Crackdown (I'd only rented it before) and I love how they can be hanging from a ledge and vault 20 feet in the air.

Myself, I'd be lucky to jump two feet straight up from a standing position... maybe three if I squatted first and lifted my feet at the apex. :D

The character animation in the game is really great. From the videos I've seen and interviews I've read, the demo only scratches the surface of the game/gameplay.

I was pissed when this was region coded because im from scotland in the uk but itsgreat they updated it

Just finished it off this morning. Its a very good game as an overall experience, but theres a fair bit of weak points as you go that have the potential to bug the hell out of you. Definately not as polished or 'fun' as Ratchet and its definately not the PS3s SMG. It is a solid and damn good game though. The animation when you move through the sub at the start is cracking and seemless, nothing big, just little touches as he moves through doorways.

Most next gen games look better. Its good at atmosphere but the individual parts of the levels are nothing special. Ive had a lot more fun with Uncharted than what I played of Crysis.
