Umm, admins. How is this in anyway specifically put in PC Gaming? I am talking about SETUP's FOR ANY GAMING THING. IE Console, pc. I just managed to have a picture of my computer, and specs....-_-

17 inch 1.83 Ghz Core 2 Duo Apple iMac with 512 MB of RAM. I plan on either saving up and buying a new one or upgrading some specs like the RAM and Hard Drive. Im currently not on my Mac right now (On a Windows Box) but when I do I'll send a couple screen shots.

BTW, Mac are way better then PCs!:D

EDIT: Screen Shots are up.

Well, I don't use my computer for gaming. I think that the computers were made to do more 'sophisticated' things on them, and consoles are designed mainly for playing games.

That's why I prefer laptops. Here's my old shit Acer 2430 (I couldn't find any technical specification in the Internet, I guess the computer's just too old... anyway, it's got a 1.6 GHz Intel Celeron, 512 MB RAM, 60 GB HDD, built-in WiFi, 15.4" widescreen, DVD-RW drive, and an integrated graphic card), I'm getting rid of it and buying a new HP or Acer laptop in a short time.

Photo (http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z92/reguabiz/PB090290.jpg) (yeah, that's from IKEA)

BTW, Kayla, why don't you include that "-Kayla" thing in your forum signature? I've noticed that you attach it at the end of every post... and that's actually what signatures were made for.

It's habit, and on Bungie.net whenever I posted a thread, which wasn't that often, I would do "-Kayla" every time. I should stop doing it with just posts...-_-

At my other house in Washington, me and my dad built the computer, it's awesome. xD

I don't have pictures, and I don't remember the specs, but the mouse was expensive. It was a Razor mouse.

Yeah, as I've said, the desk is from Ikea - and basically most things from Ikea are nice, but they are... erm... too Ikeish. Or Swedish. Yeah, they're definitely too Swedish.
As to Ubuntu - it's my favourite OS ever, I just love it. It's so easy to use (as for a linux) and customise.

i've had no problems with leopard what so ever. installation was quick and painless and looks better than ever. Their have been problems with the installation though, my family used the leopard that came with my mac and for some reason my dad couldn't log in. my dad fixed it though by installing it a second time.

the best feature by far is the new dock, stacks (to keep things tidy) and spaces( i use that the most)

You know what. Women should appreciate their stockers. I mean what an ego boost! They have a guy totally dedicated to her and he also has a 9 to 5 job to deal with. If they ever get attacked in a park they know their stocker is watching over them. If I had a stocker you know I would make her do my bidding! :D

My current PC:

AMD 64Athlon 3.0 Ghz
Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB
Ultra RAM 1 Gig
Asus K8N-DL
250 Gig Hard Drive
Logitech Elite Keyboard
Logitech MX 510 Mouse
Logitech Premium Headset 350
Windows XP

And it's lasted me for many years now... but sadly, I'm turning it into a dedicated server only, because of my new PC which is nearly complete:

Intel Core 2 Quad 2.4 Ghz
BFG Superclocked 8800 GT 512MB (one for now, but SLI soon)
Corsair Extreme Performance RAM 2 Gig
ABIT IP35
500 Gig Hard Drive
Logitech G11 Gaming Keyboard
Logitech G7 Gaming Laser Mouse
Sennheiser PC166 Headset

Windows Vista

I can't wait for the AMD quad CPU's to drop. I was very unhappy with my Intel quad 2.4GHz and ended up going back to the Intel dual core 3.0GHz within 2 weeks. Maybe it's just me though.

Mav
11-11-2007, 11:31 PM
Why did you drop the Q6600?

PacManPolarBear
11-12-2007, 02:45 AM
Well it does not suck or anything. But the performance vs cost did not impress me at all. Keep in mind this is before the big price drop for the Q6600. While it did run a bit better, for all that extra loot, I was expecting a noticeable improvement. And ya some things can really take advantage of the quad, but to date, few things do. I traded it back for my old cpu, until AMD drops their quad...which is apparently gonna have far better threading.

Really it came down to waste...90% of what I do with my PC does not take advantage of the quad's capabilities. At the time I traded it in to get my old cpu back I used the money I saved to get my new gpu, which DID make a huge difference.

I admit I am tempted to grab a new higher range quad for Crysis...

On a side note, I REALLY love my new hard drive. Now that the lifespan of the 10,000rpm drives has been vastly improved.

Mav
11-12-2007, 03:18 AM
You got yourself a nice WD Raptor then? :P

Yeah quad cores aren't fully utilised yet and they are already thinking octo core. Well I just got my new pc so the price/performance ratio is good for my Q6600 at 200+US.

PacManPolarBear
11-12-2007, 03:55 AM
Hell yeah. I grabbed a Raptor the minute it hit the market, but because my PC is constantly running and I really do beat on my rig, the thing self destructed in less than two months. So I waited a good while and then gave it a second chance once the new 160GB drives came out. So far it is a dream...and despite some pessimism from a few friends, I do see a noticeable improvement over your average 7,200's.

Mav
11-12-2007, 11:05 AM

If you're going to SLi two 8800GT/GTS/GTX's, you really should get 4gigs of RAM.

There is no point in getting a beast of a computer, and then limiting yourself to (what is these days) a pidly amount of RAM.

Especially if you're running Vista.

I hell, I know you're not about to buy a pre-built "Dell" type PC!

Build it from scratch, not only will you save money, but you wont have to worry about shitty pre-installed software.

I have no way nnnneaaaaaar enough free time to do that. aha.

chrispenny
11-30-2007, 07:08 PM
How long do you think it takes?

You buy everything you need from one store, and for an extra $10 they'll most likely put it all together for you.

All it means is that you're purchasing the items as singular pieces. EG: CPU, RAM, Video Card. Instead of buying a pre-built PC that you have little control over.

The benefit is great.
If you buy a "Dell" type brand prebuilt PC, then the warranty is for the box as a whole. If you do anything as simple as opening your box, the warranty will be void. Not only that, but if you ever want to upgrade and keep your warranty, you have no choice but to go and buy from that company who will no doubt charge you an arm and leg.

This was the post I made for that Mac dude a while ago:
http://www.sarcasticgamer.com/forums/showpost.php?p=15193&postcount=22

When someone says "build your PC", all they are saying is buy the parts, don't buy the pre-built thing.

You must spend at least a couple hours on this forums each day. It would take you less time than that you put this PC together.

[edit]
The time is now 1:10pm. Come back in 10mins and I'll have built a PC for you.

UK prices usually helps. :p

Everything here is so bloody expensive.

chrispenny
11-30-2007, 09:05 PM
Well, firstly - You wouldn't be buying from PB Tech in NZ. And if you did, UK$1 = NZ$3 :P

Secondly - What I gave was just a list, you can take that list anywhere and they'll have the same thing (or something very similar).

Thirdly - Whatever you're paying for your pre-built PC, I can guaran-damn-tee that buying the parts separate will be a whole lot cheaper. When you buy pre-built, all they do is buy the parts and put it together. They then take the amount spent, and triple it, and sell it to you.

Do not buy a pre-built PC with software already installed. I promise you, you will regret it.

Take some time. Find out whatever local Computer store is around. Take that list to them. Get them to put it together for you. Save some money. And end up with a better rig.

I do appreciate you trying to help and all.

It was 400 for the whole computer.
No software is coming installed on it.
I get a genuine vista disk with it.

Trust me, I did check around, and to have the computer build near me it was going to cost probably 20 quid cheaper for it to be built.

I'd rather spend that extra 20 quid for a nice 1 year warranty. and saving the time of trying to do it.

Lol, change the graphics and tell us the memory rating. Q6600 and and Intel Media Graphics Accelerator.. this might be the first time in history that the grapics card is the bottleneck. rofl

And the price?

If you buy the parts yourself they have warranty too, sometimes for longer.
