View Full Version : Rare took a risk. Was it worth it?
ShuaReborn 02-03-2009, 03:00 AM I was just playing Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts and I have to ask.
Do you think that Rare was right to take the risk of changing the gameplay and style of the Banjo-Kazooie series?
or
Do you feel they messed up and could've kept the old game?
Personally, I'm glad they took the risk and glad they did the low price point, because they showed that creativity is not dead, and that keeping to the same cookie cutter should be a thing of the past.
Truthfully, I'm looking forward to what they pull out next.

What low price point? It's full retail price in most places still here.
I personally hated N&B's, but its all opinion really.
I loved Kazooie and Tooie, but N&B is terrible >_<
Slotter 02-03-2009, 06:40 AM I was an avid Banjo and Kazooie fan since the first game on the N64. Nuts & Bolts was just a let down for me...
Fleeka 02-03-2009, 08:37 AM I loved the previous 4 games (Including Banjo Pilot and Grunty's Revenge), Nuts and Bolts doesn't change the general humor or idea of the games, so I don't really mind. That and the creative part of it was actually really fun, along with Klungo ssssavessss the world was really hardcore. As well as them pretty much confirming that there will be another game. I'm looking forward to that as it might be a proper Banjo-Threeie.

Seriously doubtful.
Microsoft = money corporation.
N&B didn't sell well so they're gonna push new projects.
MeRcEnArY 02-03-2009, 10:10 AM The origional, N64 one is still king!!!!
TheeBassMasta 02-03-2009, 11:10 AM I am really enjoying this game. Well worth the money.
Personly, I think it is up there with the N64 games.
What low price point? It's full retail price in most places still here.
I got it for £30, new, out of gamestation
mattyftm 02-03-2009, 11:27 AM It's a fantastic game, and got some brilliant reviews, but sales wise, it flopped, and sales is what matters.
Cheese 02-03-2009, 11:49 AM The game wasn't as good as it should have been but it's good that the developers stepped outside of their traditional game designs. It's good to have a little variety in games even if sometimes they go completely wrong.

I live in Toronto and pick up the game at a local EB for $39.99 CAN new.
Most new games go for $59.99 or sometimes even $64.99.

rare did say they are working on a proper sequel
rare did say they are working on a proper sequel
Source plz.
I would be happy if they were.
n7ghthawk 02-04-2009, 03:38 PM In North America N&B is $40 which makes me not regret buying although I'm not too fond of the game. It wasn't terrible but it wasn't great either. Personally I hope that thy go back to the old game style but either way will stay loyal to the francise.
MeggaMan 02-05-2009, 06:47 PM I absolutely HATE it. I like the old Banjo Kazooies and that's it.
Not to mention I have to hear everyone who thinks that the vehicle system is so amazing and new but then to shut them up I ask them if they've ever heard of a little game called Kingdom Hearts? Not saying that any of you are!
Paradigm13 02-06-2009, 12:59 AM My girlfriend and I both love it, and she was a Banjo purist. It is great that they took a fresh take on the series. I haven't looked at the sales numbers, were they properly rewarded for their solid game?
Changing a well known Jump n run into a racer might have worked with mario-in my and my buddies opinion it did not with Banjo. It looks good, it `s funny but does not reach the class of the originals.
Gir15 02-09-2009, 09:18 AM I played the demo of Nuts and Bolts and it still had the Banjo humor but it didn't feel the same as the N64 games, the risk wasn't worth it, they need to make a true sequel to Banjo Kazooie, Banjo Threeie like the end of Banjo Kazooie says.
I don't care about Banjo's nuts (or bolts for that matter), it just didn't appeal to me. As far as Rare games go, it's Viva Piñata FTW!!!
