hi i placed my order with yesasia last night for my dual shock 3 $75.00 inc delivery but thats only around £35.00 to me so im very happy im posting this discount code to get $5.00 off if you are new to yesasia at checkout input SA5OFF and the price for the controller will be $75 rather than $80.00.
Hope this helps anybody wanting to get the dual shock 3 early rather than having to wait.

yep supaslick i liked the article i wanted to post the discount code as $80 is a lot for a controller.
for any uk gamer its not as bad because the pound is strong at the minute so i have only paid maybe £5 more than the uk rrp will be next spring.
Your news that ratchet and clank supports the controller right now and the uncharted demo just makes the deal even better.

I finally caved and got a PS3 this past Sunday (40GB launch day here in Japan). I got the white system and a matching DS3 controller, along with a copy of Ratchet and Clank Future (also came out on Sunday).

The DS3 is very nice (I've not even taken the included Sixaxis out of its wrapper), with a good heft and solid feel to it. It works just like it should, rumbling when needed and sixaxising when you have to do that.

I'm more stunned by the PS3 itself. I had no idea the system ran this frickin' quiet! The startup beep is the loudest noise that comes from the console, and even the disc drive is whisper-quiet. (I'm almost ashamed to turn on my 360 now, especially since it has an Intercooler Ex attached to the back of it.) So far I've only played R&CF, Warhawk and some demos, but I'm sold on the system itself. I don't think it's potential will be reached for a while, but R&CF is a good indicator of just what the system can do.

Game on!

I bought a Japanese PS3. I've lived in Japan for just over 3 years, so my PS2, Wii, 360, and PS3 are all Japanese versions. My Japanese ability isn't anywhere near good enough to play games (beyond something simple like Katamari Damacy) in Japanese, but With the 360 I can buy Asian version games, which always have an English option.

The 40GB PS3 coming out at a lower price (about $355 here) and being fully region-free for games is what finally got me to get one. Being able to pop in the Japanese release of a game and have it play in English is a huge benefit for me. The DS3 and R&CF coming out the same day didn't hurt either.

nice buy causticsaint the white ps3 looks very nice and yes the ps3 runs very quiet if you have used a 360 then a ps3 you notice the difference straight away.
And can i ask whats the stock level for the dual shock 3 like in japan is it sold out everywhere as yesasia say my order could take 21 days just to dispatch so it must be in high demand and low stock but even if it takes a month to get here it is still sooner than spring 08.

MRPW, a quick check of a few online shops shows they're pretty easy to come buy. I'd guess that Play-Asia's short supply is due to issues with their supplier, not with the general availability of DS3s.

thanks for the response causticsaint im suprised they post the controller to the uk at all after what happened to lik sang.com sony are not very import friendly and when it arrives i have to dodge the dreaded import duty goodness knows how much that could cost but still im looking foward to getting my hands on the dualshock 3.

I live in Yokohama now, about 30 minutes outside of Tokyo. (Used to live in Tokyo but moved at the end of July to be closer to work.) I teach preschool here and love living here more than I have anywhere else in the world. I've lived all over the US and spent 5 years in South Korea, too. Japan has been my home for the last 3 years and it looks like it will remain so for quite a long time. :)

The white DS3 won't totally contrast with your black PS3 - it's got black buttons, after all!

Which European games so far support DS3?

I heard of R&C, true or false?

Arseen yep ratchet supports dual shock also resistance fall of man i believe motorstorm but im not sure and the upcoming uncharted demo supports dual shock 3 so that will be awesome.
Im pretty sure games like heavenly sword and hopefully psn games like superstardust and locoroco will add rumble support later on.

Nice, I'm guessing you teach English? How is it? I'd imagine it'd be pretty hard without too much Knowledge of Japanese...

Nice location, probably without the bustle and noise of Tokyo, but close enough to get there easily enough if needed...

I'm probably going to try the Jet Programme (http://www.jetprogramme.org/) myself after I finish Universety...

I lived in Tokyo for nearly 3 years, and really liked it. There are little quite pockets in the city that are a treat. Very calm and peaceful to live in, but with the noise and stuff to do just a few minutes' walk away.

Yes, I teach English. But it's preschool so it's not as hard as you might think. Younger kids totally soak up new languages and they love to talk, so they do a lot of the work themselves.

The JET Program is a great way into Japan. I've got a few friends who did it for 3 years (the max allowed) and loved it. They're all staying on, working at other places now.

Ya, I'm going to use it as a vessel to get into Japan, and then look for a business job while teaching...
