Max Payne hits the silver screen…played by Mark Walhberg? After years of delay, the super dark tale of Mr. Payne will finally be told in a feature film. The movie will apparently follow the story of the first game and Marky Mark may play the part of a cop haunted by the death of his family and menaced by an unknown organization.
Seriously, I’m actually pretty stoked for this one. After hearing the horrific news (http://sarcasticgamer.com/wp/index.php/category/news) that Timothy Olyphant (ya, I never heard of him either) was gonna play everyones favorite Hitman, my hope for any video game turned movie being any good was all but dead, but I really enjoyed the cinematic feel of the Max Payne games. Not to mention they really were awesome to play, and I’ve always thought if any game could be a great movie, this has got to be one of them.
Read on, if you dare, after the jump!

The king of the funky bunch has done some awesome work of late (The Departed), and I think this movie may really pull video game movies out of the cesspool where they currently reside. If this movie is a box office success, perhaps future game movies will not put second rate unknown actors in games we all loved. Granted Hitman has not been released yet, but I for one have little faith it’ll do the series justice.
Oh, and not getting the Marky Mark and Funky Bunch references? Jeez I’m getting old…our good friend Walhberg has come a long way from the white rapping joke that was Marky Mark And The Funky Bunch…circa 1991.

Well... If it had to be done, I'm glad he's the one doing it.

As a side note. Timothy Olyphant was the bad guy is Die Hard 4.0. I agree that he doesn't suit 47.

Maybe all hope is not dead for games being turned into a movie.
The max Payne would could turn out pretty well by the sounds of things.

And I don't think the hit man movie looks that bad either. It looks like a 'Ok' film.

I loved the Max Payne games. Probably my favourite series ever and it is sad to see no Max Payne 3 in the foreseeable future.

We shall see how the movie goes and I hope it isnt too bad. They have a lot they can work with and I hope they work closely with Remedy.

From what I have seen Hitman looks very faithful and aside from the poorly cast Timothy Olyphant it may be quite good. Even the music is the same.

Aswell as Die Hard, he is also in Deadwood and The Girl Next Door (with the lovely Elisha Cuthbert). He is a brilliant actor, I just think he is way to clean and young for Agent 47.

Anyone know what Mark Whalberg is like as an actor?

Whalberg has done some wicked films like: The Departed, Four Brothers, and Fear.

"The Girl Next Door" pissed me off. She plays a pornstar and the best we get is underwear shots. I WANTED NUDITY!!!

*Throws a temper tantrum*

Ok, I feel better now. Marky Mark was also in "The Perfect Storm," "Rock Star," and "Boogie Nights." All of which are worth a rent if you haven't seen them.
