Maybe I'm the only one, but I actually found it and the following forum conversations rather interesting!

Also, my friend and I could not stop laughing when Dave kept saying "beep"! We were literally in tears. :lol:

P.S. Three Dog is one of the best video game characters ever, so you better not screw the take-us-out up Dave!

Don't get me wrong... the topic (Weight of professional reviews) is VERY intriguing, but a portion of a 30 minute/15 podcast is not nearly the time it deserves to do it justice. There are all sorts of other intricacies that may only apply to gaming culture vs. other review cultures (food critics, movie critics, etc...).

Maybe since Rebel.fm is made up of current and former professional writers and their podcasts are longer they could cover it in better/greater/more objective detail. Though... I do seem to recall them touching on how reviews and scoring are done... maybe it just needs to be deeper vs. a quick tangent conversation on their part.

I was more talking about the personal attacks and drama.

I don't think it is necessary to call out specific people or sites. I think the topic is broad and far reaching enough to have a meaningful conversation. Of course, examples help define the subject, unfortunately they tend to have a nasty habit of setting precedent.

I'm not calling anybody out. You brought them into this...

I think our wires are getting crossed... so let me start over.

SG Podcasts are short, sweet, full of content, and fun. That said, the topic of "Review Standards" requires more time than a portion of a 15 or 30 minute show. I think on a longer show, with a panel who have first hand exposure to these standards would be a better platform to have a meaningful dialogue about it.

This is not a slight against SG's crew. I think you guys would be capable of having such a discussion... just not in the time frame of your show; hense, why I suggested Rebel.fm both for meeting panel and time criteria.

What does need to be removed is the personal shenanigans that have been attached to the topic. Apply some objectivity to the discussion. Though, you should be able to site this (and many others even not in the gaming industry) that could be relevant. But, as Joe Friday said, "Just the fact, ma'am."

I just got this week's HDUD in my RSS reader and it's completely unlistenable. You can't hear anything the guys say because they are drowned out by loud music. I assume another version will be uploaded.

Yup, I tried listening for about a minute before I had to give up. :huh:

becuase the new thread isnt up yet, the humpday update is really bad, bad ,bad. maybe its just my Ipod, but the music in the background of the podcast playing on a loop makes me angry!!. It makes it so hard to hear what people are saying, its no even worth listening to. if its not me, then hopefully you can fix someway cuz right now it is bad.

*update*-glad its not just me hearing the problems

yeah, after 3 minutes I stopped listening. It was unbearable.

i listened to it all. i hate rock music now. is dave getting more sloppy with his work as his fame increases. good show from i could make out.

it was fixed and replaced with the "good" version.
