View Full Version : A new kind of arena...
BasharTeg6 03-01-2009, 07:59 AM So I was drunk last night and I came up with what I thought was a great idea:
A paintball arena, but with a dozen or so people paid to dress up like zombies and chase around the players! The arena could be built in like an abandoned warehouse or something (there are plenty of these in <insert name of city>,) and could be modeled to a number of different environments like a prison, medical ward, hotel, what have you. The zombies could have red paint on their hands or something so if you get tagged by a zombie you are out.
So the whole point of the game is for the players to survive for a certain time limit or reach the exit point.
What do you guys think? Does the idea need work? How much would you need to get paid to play as a zombie? How much would you pay to participate in an event like this?
Artemas 03-01-2009, 08:06 AM As much as I love paintball, running(walking?) straight into some kid who going to try to be an ass and cranked up his pressure after the refs checked it just defies all common sense.
Sound goods in theory though. Airsoft might be a better way to go.
kim andre 03-01-2009, 08:14 AM erm seems cinda stupid xD sorry but think about it, you made this up while you were drunk xD
viatrophy 03-01-2009, 08:17 AM In paintballing, a game like this would be incredibly hard. As any game which is like extract the V.I.P almost always end as a deathmatch as it's the easiest thing to do.

Airsoft has already come and gone with that idea
Up in Michigan each year, they have a zombie event in an old building complex. No automatics, and no loose BB's (can't carry bags with you, all BB's must be in magazine/no speedloaders). They have a decent variety of games thrown into the mix ranging from all out survival, to something like L4D where they need to make it to a certain room and live for a bit.
Good stuff mang, good stuff. The limited ammo count means you need to make your shots count, and stopping the use of automatics... well that's just a safety issue. Don't want a survivor running down a hall and busting out teeth by wild spraying.
I've also gotta say, funnest sim combat event EVAR!
E.] Link to Operation Plague, they haven't updated the page with this years event yet.

And as a sidenote, check out www.zombiehunters.org.
Look around their forums, they also have information on the Airsoft zombie events taking place.
Jarrett 03-01-2009, 09:25 AM This sounds AWESOME. I would be a zombie for free (provided I have proper protection)!
Erm, sorry, but that sounds a bit too much like LARPing to me...
Lightning bolt!

Really?
/me pulls out giant foam sword and repeatedly hits someone.

Bauer22 03-01-2009, 12:27 PM Replace paintball guns with Nerf guns and then you are ready. Most, if not all of the safety issues of paintballs are gone and, well it's fraking Nerf guns!
Just follow the rules....

And here I thought you were going to link to something awesome...
Zombie survival NERF style has also been conceived and played, started out on a college campus and has since been banned.

BasharTeg6 03-01-2009, 06:00 PM I kind of figured the idea had been run across before. It's a big world with a lot of college kids. But the thought was still pretty amusing :)
As for safety, I figured you could suit the zombies up with padding beneath their costumes or something and make them wear stylized safety masks.
Oh well. I could always go play Left for Dead :P

A course, all my ideas are taken.
What I always wanted to play was a well planed game of Nerf Assassination. I need to find a local group to do that with.
