They suck, And pretty much everyone in the world knows it. why cant people actully make an awesome educational video game? Like Metal Gear Solid: Geomitry? Mortal Kombat: Precents? Grand Theft Auto: Grove Street Gramer?

as you can tell, i need one for spelling, 50 Cent: Spellin On Da Streets?

ill probibly photoshop some pics and expand on this idea in my blog later but i want to know what the community thinks about educational games.

Educational games aren't all bad, that's a pretty blanket statement. I was addicted to seeing what I could do in Real Lives, and both Typing Shark and Typing of the Dead were awesome.

Any games with language settings I put into spanish, in preparation for my GCSEs in May.

Also, Zoombinis was a fun, educational kids game for Macs I played when I was younger.

Does that actully help? i think i would just not be able to understand at all. And i would just miss out on the story line.

Its a tricky subject. most people buy/play games for fun. I wouldn't buy an educational movie, or an education song off itunes.

I would watch a documentary or listen to an audiobook (but prob not buy them).

essentially I think the only way you can combine the two is very subtilely, which the games industry isn't really geared towards education, and the education industry has been trying to tell us that games are bad for year.

my thoughts on it anyway

Resident Evil: Code Veronica_X had a memory game. Your bro tries to grab some golden pistols but then gets trapped in the closet and it starts to heat up. When you get his out he betrays you and takes the guns anyway. I didn't put this in spoilers because the game came out on PS2 in 2000 (possibly 2001).

You could make a case for any famous game in History class saying that they were major parts of Pop-Culture of whatever time period. Or any WWII game.

While WW2 games aren't all factual wrong, I wouldn't say there is case for 'education' in games. As most games seem to take place between 1941 -> 1945, and generally only feature the US and Germany; Hardly a 'World War' (I know COD and some other games have featured other countries). It doesn't really give you a sense of the History of WW2.

FOr the games that support it, I have already completed them, and know the menus, great for some terms in FIFA 09, where it's the same as 08 mostly.
