What is Gametap like? The only decent game I saw was the original Splinter Cell.

They have added a bunch of game recently. Among the great things on there:

Panzer Dragoon I&II for the Saturn
Pretty much any neo geo game, all playable multiplayer.
All the Tomb Raider Games
All the Kings Quest Games
They will have all the Hitman Games by summers end.
The entire season of Sam & Max.

Pretty much the reason I love it is because it lets me try all sorts of games I would have missed or wouldn't pay for normally.

I really don't see the reason for subscribing I mean I not only played but beat all the games that interest me on there like 3 to 5 years ago.

There are new games on there. Overlord was on there the same time it was released. Which pissed me off cause I went and bought it. lol (and I understand that you might not have an interest in Overlord, I am simply pointing out that they have new games on there).

ohh I know it's just stuff like RBS: Vegas won't be on there anytime after it is released, and those are the kind of titles I'm interested in.

It's an downloadservice for games. You can download and play games, either trough a subscription, or through ingame advertisement. Some games are free, others are for subscribers only.

It's an interesting service and I hope they'll be successful so they're getting more variety into their library.

Actually there's around 50% of abandonware.. so.. that's notso cool. Sam and max is only one new game (series) there.. UBISOFT's advertisment games are better - for example they're giving out Far Cry for free!

Well Sam and Max is the only one till Jan 2008. Then they will have American McGee's Grimm, which is set to be a 24 episode series based on fractured fairy tails.

Honestly they really have more than old games. Yes there is a large number of older games. However look at it this way. If you bought the following games at the store it would cost you about $100.00.

Infernal, Overlord, and Sam and Max Season 1.

A years subscription to gametap costs $59.99. You not only get those games, you also get the entire street fighter series of games with online multiplayer, pretty much any neo-geo game with multiplayer online capability. Myst Online free.

And no, I don't work for gametap. It just drives me crazy when people think the service is nothing but really old emulated games you can download on your own.

Sounds cool, but when you download a game. Do you get to keep it even if your not a subscriber anymore??

Maybe you should learn what gametap is before you make a dumb ass statement like that. Direct to Drive and Steam are both site you buy games from. You pay per game. Gametap is a subscription service where you pay a low fee for access to the entire library (including cartoon network cartoons, newer video game based cartoons, music, online multiplayer and other features).

No you don't. On the other hand, do you really play old games once you have beaten them? Plus you can clear them off your hard drive once done, if you want to play again you can always redownload it.
