Just managed to listen to the full show now on my lunch break, excellent show again guys. Still annoys me about Killzone 2, how anyone can compare it to Halo and that nobody would care if it was on the 360, I hate people.

Sh!t. I'm one of the three rothbart is talking about. I have a high-def console and high-speed internet but no cable, I just have free over the air digital tv.
Speeking of the video store I bought a couple videos recently. Some Family Guy and South Park. I prefer PSN's video store over 360's, just cause I can copy the videos onto my PSP for on the go.

Regarding Paris talking about Killzone 2.. he has a right to have his opinion about the game. What I didn't like was that he statred saying stuff that didn't make a whole lot of sense. I've had no trouble finding my friends or my clan mates when I log in. It just sounded ignorant. And that stuff about how it wouldn't be a big deal if it was on X-Box was just plain ludicrous. If MS had KZ2, they would be making a HUGE deal about it. It would be all over the place, not just in ONE commercial. They would have released TWO special edition packages (a Helghast helmet one for sure). I called BS to myself when I heard that podcast, before the blue guys called him out on it.

When I listened to the Blue show and I heard all about what Paris said about KZ2, I admit I thought that Pacman was right with calling him out.

Then I actually listened to the UG podcast.

Pacman (and Gamebler), I don't know what podcast you were listening to, but the way Pacman talked about it made it seem so much worst than what Paris actually said. As I listened to Uncle Gamer, I became more and more upset. Not about what Paris was saying, but by what Pacman had said about Paris. The longer I listened, the more I realized how off-the-wall Pacman's statements really were.

I must say Pacman, I am actually disappointed in you and the Blue show. You all are usually so good about what you say, but the rant made you sound like a mindless PS3 fanboy. You three are usually so much better than that.

I love the Blue show and it is one of my favorite podcasts and besides that Paris bashing it was good as always. However, I think next time Pacman tries to call anyone out I'll listen to what that person actually says before I continue to listen.

I enjoyed the show. I also heard the UG show when it first came out and thought it was ok. He just couldn't get into the game thats all. It didn't make sense that he said it would be 5th on the xbox and listed the 2 COD's in front of it and didn't list them in front of Killzone on PS3

I'm sorry you feel that way. Out of curiosity though, what did I get wrong? Every single thing I commented on was something he specifically said. I did not misquote or make stuff up, I know since I had all the quotes from his show on the screen in front of me at the time.

Sorry PMPB, you know I'd have you back if we went to war or anything and I know that you don't dislike our friends over on UncleGamer, but I have to say while I don't totally agree with what Parris said, you weren't entirely correct to call him out for what he is saying.

The majority of what he said were opinions, and opinions that he is entitled to have - he's allowed to prefer R1 or R2 co-op, that's his opinion and I don't think he ever truly represents it as anything different.

But maybe he did. The world don't move to the beat of just one drum, What might be right for you, may not be right for some.

Likewise he is entitled to say that he believes that Microsoft wouldn't make a big deal of having KZ2 on the 360. I think is a thought badly expressed, rather than a bad idea. If MS had KZ2, they would no doubt promote the crap out of it and we would all be knee deep in special editions and Killzone Dew, but they wouldn't be pinning all there hopes to it as the future of their console and hoping for a massive system seller. On the PS3 KZ2 is a trailblazing triple A title, on the 360 it would be a triple A shooter, but one among many rather than the golden standard or benchmark title that is undoubtedly is on the PS3.

I'm loving my PS3 at the moment and KZ2 is a very enjoyable game and despite the lack of focus on the single player portion of the game it is that which I'm having a lot of fun with, that doesn't mean I'm going to turn into a blind Sony fanboy rage every time someone says something negative about a PS3 exclusive. :tongue:

You missed the point COMPLETELY I think... what if I said getting poked in the eye hurt because marshmallows are white and fluffy. Getting poked in the eye may hurt but it has very little if anything to do with marshmallows. All _I_ was asking for from Parris (http://www.talkingaboutgames.com/podcasts/ugr/3559-unclegamer-radio-episode-106#comments) on his show's comments page was some reasoning for his statements that he not only didn't supply in the podcast, but repeatedly refused to supply in his comments. I asked him specifically what about the controls were broken to him, specifically how KZ2 fails at the mechanics of being a shooter and why specifically KZ2 would be ranked above COD4/COD:WaW on one platform but below it on another. Those are very valid questions about statements he made in his podcast and his repeated reluctance to simply answer ANY of them makes me feel he realized he was talking out his ass and doesn't want to further embarrass himself by digging any deeper. I've got NOTHING against Parris personally... I've got no agenda, I'm not attacking or dragging him through the mud. I'm behaving the EXACT same way I would if Pacman, Frawlz, or anyone on our own site would.

The way he talked about it was way closer to proving a point than simply "I didn't like the game" and leaving it at that. He went so far as to meticulously rank it between other FPS games and such. That's not simply "I didn't like it". Sure he's entitled to his opinion, but you'd think he'd have A) backed it up with some sort of reason other than a generic one or B) gone into more detail about his reasons when specifically asked to. I didn't ask the questions so he would volunteer to come on our show and I don't need to go on his show to get the answers either... All I wanted was for Parris to flesh out his answers and instead I got personal emails telling me to back off, emails sent to Doc telling him to tell us to back off, and repeated attempts for Parris to simply answer my few and reasonable questions countered with: it's my opinion, I'll come on your show, you can come on my show, why are you attacking me, etc.

For the record, Parris' trophy list shows he hasn't even completed the first level of the game... when Parris himself won't talk, looking at his trophy list will have to do. :lol:

Great game. Amazing graphics and the controls don't bother me at all. I'm mostly all the way through the campaign. I haven't tried online yet, so I can't really judge the game on a whole yet, but I'm really enjoying it.

I played the campaign for about 1hr then went online with it. Now when I put that game in with every intention of finishing the campaign, I end up online haha! Its sooooooooooooooooo addictive.

I lost most of respect that I had for this show now that the Fanboy war has escalated. Seriously grown men up in arms over a videogame and someones opinion. After looking at my hastily typed rant here I barely noted for why I am calling people an idiot so Ill give a short summary. Basically Rothbart (though usually sounding smart on the psp podcast) really ****ed up here by brandishing the Playstation logo on his crusader's sheild for internet justice between podcasts. This isn't a flame war... just some people can't take criticism, even after they put their words out there. As I said before on our podcast. You have a second chance to pull audio if you think that you may have misspoke or made a mistake. (Believe me, I have done my fair share, and have been called out on it).

If I or someone else on this show are called out on what ever we say... we won't take it as a slam. We would take it as a challenge and have tons of fun with it. Take hip-hop gamer for instance. We had tons of fun with that, and so did he. Since then we are friends.

Another case in point... SG made the Microsoft Surface Parody. We basically had fun with it... Even Microsoft laughed. They invited Doc, and Lono out to visit the offices in Redmond.

EDITS: I just epiphanied the best way to describe my issue. When I listened to the show and when I saw the crusading by The Bart, I just flashbacked to reading some killzone 2 article comments on N4G (any doesnt matter which) and thinking of the flameboy wars there and how unbelievably similar the Sony Defense Force generic comments from N4g were similar to the show.

I really can't say what is going on. I just know that there was some emails sent to Doc and Roth from Paris. That is what sparked the whole "going back and forth" crap.

So I guess there is more to the story then we all know. Hell, I work here and I still don't have all the facts...

Roth is a friend of mine and he is known for his rants, but I have never seen him flame or crusade against anyone unless he was provoked in some way.

I have (We, the site) have a lot of respect for the gamercastnetwork and that includes Paris. I met him personally and he is a smart guy and very good at what he does. I really can't say what is going on. I just know that there was some emails sent to Doc and Roth from Paris. That is what sparked the whole "going back and forth" crap.

So I guess there is more to the story then we all know. Hell, I work here and I still don't have all the facts...

Roth is a friend of mine and he is known for his rants, but I have never seen him flame or crusade against anyone unless he was provoked in some way.

I have (We, the site) have a lot of respect for the gamercastnetwork and that includes Paris. I met him personally and he is a smart guy and very good at what he does. EDITS: I just epiphanied the best way to describe my issue. When I listened to the show and when I saw the crusading by The Bart, I just flashbacked to reading some killzone 2 article comments on N4G (any doesnt matter which) and thinking of the flameboy wars there and how unbelievably similar the Sony Defense Force generic comments from N4g were similar to the show.

I think the problem here is that people are distilling this down to a "Flame Boy" war. That couldn't be further from the truth. I don't understand why it's not OKAY to challenge Parris' "opinions" on things. Why is it not OKAY to ask him why he felt a certain way? To me that smacks of someone that can dish it out, but not take it. So, to call it a "fanboy war" and to say that when Rothbart simply asked him questions, and that's all they were, were questions, and Parris couldn't say anything other than "well, that's my opinion" that makes me think that he doesn't have a care in the world what comes out of his mouth when a microphone is in front of it. And if he doesn't care, why should you?

Lono jumped all over Doc in the forum and on the podcast because he said "publicly" that he didn't think playing the whole game was important when reviewing a game. Doc (The owner) was called out by his staff and his own forum for making such statements. I didn't see anyone drop off the Red show subscription after that. Why? Because it was one of our own? No. Because we can take a joke. Now as a site... we look at the gaming industry as a whole. Therefor everyone is subject to sarcasm and scrutiny. Even us.

So... now that you are sticking around... I meant what i said. You seem smart and I am happy you are sticking around.

Now just do me a favor. Grow a pair, and stop being so sensitive. :)

C'mon man, how could there be hard feelings? We're talking about video games. When people's opinion's differ, they talk them out. I don't think anyone involved has any malicious intent at all. There's no reason why there can't be a discussion on this, a back and forth. We rib everybody. Only the overly sensitive ones cause drama over it. No bad blood here.

Do I think KZ2 was heavily hyped? Yes! But also think it was well deserved, its a great game and obviously no game is perfect.

After looking at my hastily typed rant here I barely noted for why I am calling people an idiot so Ill give a short summary. Basically Rothbart (though usually sounding smart on the psp podcast) really ****ed up here by brandishing the Playstation logo on his crusader's sheild for internet justice between podcasts. Seriously after going to the site via the link Lono provided and listening to the review he gave yeah hes a bit 'tarded for not backing up reasons and giving generic I dont like this game. The problem is you consider this a smear on podcasting society I suppose and your basically trolling anti-sony reviews because they arent up to your "snuff".

The issue is Parris said things that didn't make sense to me (and others) and he had no backing info whatsoever for some of it. I never asked for his info to prove he was wrong, I was simply pointing out that he did an awful lot of talking without many specifics. Can you tell me how Killzone 2 fails at the mechanics of being a shooter? I mean Parris clearly refuses to, maybe you can explain that gem to us all... Pacman had some rib-jabbing fun in his rant on the show, but I never said Parris was wrong for not liking Killzone 2, I just questioned the things that in my opinion SHOULD HAVE BEEN QUESTIONED regardless of WHO said them. Find me other people that think Resistance Fall of Man is the #1 best shooter on the PS3. People other than Parris. Are those things beyond the realm of asking to discuss in more detail?

Your "crusade" accusations were pretty ridiculous dude... especially in reference to a Playstation aspect. I could've sworn _I_ was very critical of Killzone 2, why in the hell would I be going after someone else for speaking critically of the game I spoke critically of? I think if you take your blinders off, you'll realize every point I've made in this has been about what Parris said not making sense or having any established backing and NOTHING to do with Playstation bashing.

I have no hard feelings either, but I have to say that the way Parris handled this whole thing REALLY makes me scratch my head. Yes, KZ2 WAS heavily hyped. BY THE PRESS & THE INTERWEBZ. I, for one, did not see Sony hyping Killzone very much. No midnight launches I was aware of, no special editions of the game, not much really going on from Sony.
Once the game came out, I could not listen to a single videogaming podcast that didn't mention Killzone. And I don't blame 'em, it's perhaps the best FPS shooter on PS3 (or at least in the top five LOL)..

By the way, I listened to the latest UG episode, like I always do (even if I don't exactly agree with some of the stuff they say), and not a word was said about Paris' comments on KZ2 last week.

I don't think that because they do a PS3 podcast, they're automatically fanboys... I'm pretty sure Frawlz does most of his gaming on the 360 and PMPB has been playing a ton of Halo lately, so...

I can tell you for a fact that no one on our cast is a fanboy. We look to make fun of Sony more then anything. Sure we would like to see the PS3 progress and become more and more sucessful. Only because it will give the world even more to talk about and bring more games to the system.

Does simply stating fanboyism make it fanboyism? I think people know it by now, I type a lot... I type fast and I often type a lot to make my point and remove ambiguity in the point I'm making. Know that I don't spend a ton of time writing long posts.

I always encourage people that don't like reading my long posts to not read them, but if they're gonna not read it and then say crap like TL;DR (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=tl%3Bdr) followed by a comment stating what they THINK I probably said, I'll call BS on them too... :lol:

People tend not to type enough in their posts. 3 or 4 statements without supporting them does not make a valid argument. Calling something a fact doesn't make it so, and people seem to forget that. You have to support your reasoning. Rothbart, thank you for writing thought out and supported posts regardless of length.

Those people that fail to read the post, and then just resort to name calling remind me of that movie Idiocracy. Unfortunately I don't think the general turn of events in that movie are too far off.
