I want to get a PS3, but I have some questions.
1) Do you think they are going to drop the price? If yes, then when/how long should I wait?

2)What version should I get? (+10 points if you include a link)

I'm not afraid to upgrade the hardrive myself because I've been building my own P.C.s for years.

well it is rumored that the ps3 will have a price drop but i doubt it, and you sud which version you get depends on what you going to use it as, are you going to download games and map packs all the time? well then i would have probably gone for the 80 gig but if your not well then go for the 40 gig

and btw i am glad you decided to get a ps3 ;)

If they are cutting the price you might want to wait for bundle offers which may come. If you're buying one now a 80gb like this (http://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-3-80GB/dp/B001COU9I6/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1237465594&sr=8-1) one is probably your best bet. Unless you want to risk buying a used 80gb motorstorm bundle (http://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-3-80GB-Motorstorm-Pack/dp/B000TVT8PI/ref=tag_dpp_lp_edpp_img_in) with addad BC.

Waiting until april though is the smartest thing to do, this (http://www.gamezine.co.uk/news/formats/playstation3/ps3-price-cut-evidence-perfect-gdc-09-$1281325.htm) article will explain why better then I can.

Is there anymore MGS bundles? What accessories do I need?

Yes (http://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-Metal-Solid-Kojima-Bundle-3/dp/B001IZIAK8/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1237465594&sr=8-13) but they are expensive. That first one is the badass grey one, and this (http://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-Metal-Gear-Solid-Pack-3/dp/B0014WJ78E/ref=pd_rhf_p_t_2) one is the original, but more expensive (even though it's used).

All you need is a HDMI cable, unless you want a second controller.

I don't think there are anymore MGS4 bundles, I would buy one if you are lucky enough to find any.

2)80GB version or if you can find one a 60GB model.

As far as accessories go a DS3 is a must (one does come with the 80GB PS3's), HDMI cable if you want your games to look good and a bluetooth mic.

60 or 80gb is good I don't know about America but in the UK I've found ps3 40gb bundles for £200 and my mate got an 80gb one for £220 which is about £100 off the normal price.

Personally I don't think there will be a price drop but safer to wait until April just to see if there will be

For me the only real difference between SKUs is the number of USB ports. If you have a working PS2, then why worry about BC. I used to have a 60GB and the BC on that was spotty. The only good thing that it would do is output the 4:3 picture in 4:3 without me changing the settings on my TV. Not all games worked and you weren't guaranteed that the ones that worked would do what you needed them to. MGS wouldn't load when I hit continue. 4 USB ports is far better than the 2 that they come with now though.

The size of the HDD is irrelevant. You can buy a very large HDD for very cheap, and it is worth it. The PS3 is a media center. There are more things that you'll want to put on it than on a 360. My 360 only has game data and a few albums. My PS3 has most of my CD collection, Plenty of movies, Pictures, dozens of themes, and lots of game data. I still have 100's of gigs left to put things. Do yourself a favor and just buy a replacement 500 HDD (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136314) when you buy the PS3. That way you don't have to mess around with backing up your hdd and transferring data. Game installs won't ever be a concern. Also your new HDD will run faster than the stock one, so your load times will be shorter on installed games. When changing HDD have the latest firmware update (http://www.us.playstation.com/Support/SystemUpdates/PS3/PC_Update.html) ready on a thumb drive.

And like everyone else said, wait until GDC to buy it

Accessories: Bluetooth headset (http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw_1_7?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=ps3+headset+bluetooth&x=0&y=0&sprefix=PS3+hea). Get the Sony one, it is the best, it works with the PS3 very well and the xmb will tell you it's battery life. You can get it by itself for $50, the SOCOM bundle for $60, or the Endwar bundle for $80. lots of people have crappy headsets, don't be one of them. An HDMI cable is a must if your TV can take it. If you have a really big room and hate to get up, you can buy a wall controller charger (http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw_1_10?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=ps3+charge+station&x=0&y=0&sprefix=ps3+charge).

How was your 60GB BC spotty? I haven't had one problem with any game that I have ever played.

I agree with every other point that you made.

PS2 games that I would play on it looked off, even after the patch. It was like it got blockier with a strange filter over it. I would just play them on my PS2. The PS1 games that I would try didn't always work that well. Particularly with loading. They wouldn't load every time I wanted them to. They would start up just fine, but it was like it would glitch when it came time to load up the game. So again I just gave up on it and just used my PS2.

I would recommend this bundle : http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-PLAYSTATION-Console-Killzone-PS3/dp/B001QTXCAY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1237629461&sr=8-1
