I know I'm not the only one in the SGC to have picked up this AWESOME game, so I want to hear your thoughts on the game. I haven't played a lot, but I can say, it's so much fun! But here's a question, are you doing anything different this time around? As for me, I'm playing as a girl, and chose the one pokemon I thought I would never use, Chimchar. So what about you?

I've played it a little. After over a decade the Pokemon Series still doesn't seemed to have changed much, still follows the same boring formula:

You've arrived at a new town. With mum and best friend.
Get discovered going into long grass by generic professor
Given Pokemon and Pokedex
You set forth on you amazing adventure, collecting new pokemon, gym badges and eventually save the world from a clichéd evil Pokemon team.
Beat the elite four.
Game over.

Could they not change the formula a little. By the time I've actually grinded enough that my Pokemon are at a decent enough level to beat the elite four the next Pokemon game comes out, which is practically the same as the last.

I'm not gonna be picking up Platinum as I still have Diamond that I'm going through right now.

Well, while I was visiting Japan I picked this one up for 40$,I didn't really need language support.I finished the game on the plane. Could be better.

havent played a pokemon game cense silver on the gbc haha loved that game^^ bu now i feel that i ame way to old for those games haha

I probably won't be picking up Platinum since I have Pearl. I have want to start a new game but I first have to trade all my Pokemon over to my brothers game so I can get them back later on. I started out with Chimchar and I thought he was awesome, Fire + Fighting is an awesome combination especially later on in the game.

More than five! You've got the new "forme" of Girantina and Shaymin, and also the 4-5 new forms of Rotom, who changes using a pretty similar system to Castform.

Oh so thats what they are, they only show you some silhouette in the nintendo power magazine I have.

you can transfer six pokemon PERMANENTLY to D/P/PT.

yes, but for it to work you need:
1- become the champion
2- complete the whole pokedex(the sinnoh one, not all 490-something pokedex)

or if you get a pokemon that is not listed on the sinnoh pokedex this function will be available.

also you can only send 6 pokemon every 24 hours, pokemon that are transfered cannot be recovered, and you must go to the bulding this function is available.

Back in the days of red and blue, they had a excuse to to release 2 versions, obviously the color of the game, yellow (the 3rd game) came and combined the 2 color schemes.

Nowadays their is no graphical difference between the 2 release games and the 3rd combination game, Their just made like that for the sake of money.:angry:

Anyway, i choose the fire pokemon as my starter, and I'm having serious problems trying to beat the water type gym leader. Despite being nearly 20 levels higher than his pokemon. My main fire pokemon is level 50, with the rest of my pokemon around 30, is there any easy way to beat him?

I honestly would backtrack and get a Shinx if you didn't catch one already. Either that or if you can get a Rotom (forget if you can at that point).

Well if you have platinum, you could also get an elekid i believe.

I had a shinx. but I also had my water pokemon learn grass knot to fight against the ground/water types :)

Well I do have over 100 hours in the game right now. I did a lot of searching and breeding to get the pokemon I want... only to have it be replaced by something else :lol:

I could trade you a shinx if you want. I have one at a high enough level. I believe I also have a few baby ones that know ice fang and fire fang.

Or just try to find a Roselia, they'll be at a decent level in some areas. If you want though, I'll trade you with something that could get you past it.

Well that kinda already exists, you beat the elite FOUR and then go on the beat the champion. FOUR + ONE = FIVE. Elite FIVE.

In the end I beat the gym leader by catching all of his Pokemon during the battle. XD
