View Full Version : Guitar hero: Metallica
R0CK0 03-29-2009, 01:23 PM i got this midnight release last nite, first impressions i think this is going to actually be harder than GH3
im LOVING it, a must have for any Metallica fan, easily. it has some great features outside of gameplay also.
Artemas 03-29-2009, 03:26 PM It's going to be harder than GH3. Who would have guessed! I have yet to beat a single Metallica song on hard or expert
I don't think I will get it though.
The Betrayer142 03-30-2009, 09:30 AM Really want to get it, hopefully will ship from gamefly in the near future. Metallica owns!
DeathByWaffle 03-30-2009, 09:56 AM I will rent this, Metallica is pretty good, and I like Metal in general. Probably will be really hard though.

i said that simply because GH3 was the most technically challenging up until this point. i didnt expect it to compare with Metallica in diffuculty.
i just beat the guitar career(expert) on Metallica, it was a great time just wish it could have been a little bit more challenging.
R0CK0 03-30-2009, 03:21 PM actually im not so sure this is harder than GH3 now...I beat GH: Metallica expert guitar career without failing ANY songs, WITHOUT using star power at all, and only dropped into the red ONCE, and that was during Slayer's "War Ensemble". ha, metallicas game and the hardest song is slayer.
PikminGuts92 03-30-2009, 03:45 PM I bought this game yesterday for PS3. It's not too difficult. I already beat it on expert.
I have to say GH3 seems to be harder. I FC'd For Whom The Bells Toll on expert too.
This beats World Tour by a long shot.
R0CK0 03-30-2009, 04:40 PM definitely, the last 2 set lists may be the best in gh history.
emonerd826 03-31-2009, 12:52 AM I plan to play a tournament of this game at my local Play N Trade, although I've yet to play any more than the demo. I am the defending champion of the tournament, however.
Victorsxl 03-31-2009, 01:47 AM I would buy it in a split second but tbh i just cant play any of the GH games after Rock band. It's so disturbingly messy and ugly in Guitar hero imo.
mynameshouldntmatter 03-31-2009, 02:30 AM Does Whisky in the Jar come up in the game?
It didn't come in the list they announced, and was hoping it would come out as a surprise track or something
(and yes, that is a selling point for me)
D00mB0x 03-31-2009, 06:21 AM Played the Demo gave it a 7.5/10.
Only because guitar hero is guitar hero is guitar hero. I mean we have played it before and from what I have seen so far there is nothing new and revoultionary about it yet. Even though it does look much nicer and I'm sure there are a few new things. But 60$ for what is ultimately an extended track pack...yikes.
MacDiesel37 03-31-2009, 07:41 AM im stoked to try out the double pedals.
still dont know if ill buy it though.
R0CK0 03-31-2009, 08:35 AM trying double bass made me feel like an idiot. and i shred drums on expert. its like trying to drive with ur left foot. gonna take a loooong time to train that lefty.

Unfortunately, no.
But it does have a great setlist nevertheless.

I'm considering renting it for the guest Artist's alone.
Mercyful Fate, The Sword, Judas Priest,Slayer, and Mastodon?? This is one serious Metal line up. \m/ \m/

yea dude this is definitely GUITAR HERO METAL(lica)
i was more stoked on judas priest and slayer myself
The Betrayer142 03-31-2009, 10:13 PM I just got it earlier tonight and I have to say....: Meh, it's pretty good. It's not as smooth on the drums (the only instrument I play) as Rock Band, and the only way to activate star power is to hit the blue and yellow pads simultaneously, which is very inconvenient... Most of the songs on there aren't metallica, and some are even country music or slow rock. Overall, the game itself is fun, but they could have done a little bit better.
---PLEASE DO NOT START FLAMING ME---
PikminGuts92 03-31-2009, 11:06 PM --Let the flames begin-- (not really)
On the contrary, Most of the songs in Guitar Hero: Metallica are by Metallica (Makes sense).
However I do agree with you about the drums. The drum tracks in Rock Band just seem to run smoother. Drums aren't my thing though.
Guitar is my thing. I think Neversoft did a good job for the guitar portion.
ImNotEmo 03-31-2009, 11:14 PM how does the game like time line go?
like do you play through it album by album the way the band wrote it?
or like do the tours they went on or what?
PikminGuts92 03-31-2009, 11:23 PM It's basically organized by difficulty of the song. Instead of playing all the songs in a tier to advance like in past GH games, you play for a certain about of stars. About 9 or 10 stars each tier. You really only have to beat a couple songs to advance. I beat the game with only completing 30% of the songs.
The Betrayer142 03-31-2009, 11:23 PM You play as a band that is inspired by metallica and play through half metallica half non-metallica (country and the like).
ImNotEmo 04-01-2009, 12:18 AM sounds intresting...
R0CK0 04-01-2009, 08:51 AM i didn't think there was any country, willie nelson and bob seger arent even in the same ballpark as most "good ole country music". at least not "tuesdays gone" and whichever seger song is in the game.
2 songs werent as hard as possible replacements, if anyone feels the need to complain about there not being enough metal, they havent gotten to the last 3 setlists.
cheranguista 04-01-2009, 01:10 PM Loving it so far for us fans of Metallica since 1985 (at least me), so i dont mind the 60 bucks. For me is a let down that in the pictures section there were absolutly no pics of Cliff Burton, Jason Newsted or Dave Mustaine. What up with that???????, I mean at least Cliff Burton's pic, just one....... is a disrespect in my opinion, but the game plays great so i give it a 8.5/10 . In fact i wanna play it online with the SG community, lest do it!!!!
