Two multiplayer maps - Wasteland Bullet and Vekta Cruiser - form the first package of downloadable content for Killzone 2. Gametrailers featured the maps on its supa-special Gametrailers TV Thursday night. Here they are broken out - Kotaku

I like both levels, but the Wasteland Bullet is, in my opinion, much better. It was my favorite level from the single-player campaign, so it is nice to see that Guerrilla made a version for multiplayer.
photomaster94 04-12-2009, 10:43 AM in an interview with a high up at guerilla he said this map pack was the titanium and steel pack and one of the words in the next was "retro" and geff keholi asked if it was from KZ1 and he said yes.

Coincidentally, I didn't like Vekta cruiser on campaign, and I can't really see it being much fun for multi-player. Then again, it is Killzone, and everything is amazing about it :lol:

Yes, there is a chance they could be free as there is only 2 maps, but like I said - it's doubtful.

Imo, I'll be more surprised if it were free.

i think that is a bit much for two maps but considering that it was like $10 for 4 maps on cod4 it may be worth buying

I feel the exact same way. I hit general in about 2 days of playing (All body count)
I don't even really care if the ranks unlock anything, I just wanna feel as though I'm working to achieve something.
ruddypoo 04-21-2009, 05:37 PM I don't think they should've made unlocking the badges part of the ranking system. I understand why they didn't want to make it take too long to level up based on how it is now, because people would've lost out on a lot of the game mechanics tied to the classes.

TinyButDeadly 04-29-2009, 08:11 AM It looks cool but i think on the cruiser map it will be hard seeming as you can get in the elevators and snipers will be extremely hard to get kills.
Cam-Dog 04-30-2009, 08:41 PM Just played through the new maps once, they were fun but they will take some time to get used to. The cruiser one is smaller than i thought and the train will be kind of had to get around on till im used to it. My guess is that GG gave this map pack the smaller maps and the next ones will be more sniper friendly.

Shaha44 05-01-2009, 11:15 AM I played the new maps last night, quite frankly, I thought they were kinda lame. First of all they felt too "cramped." I also also had some bad experiences with Wasteland Bullet, the level kept giving me some really bad lag. It may have been caused from all that is going on in that level. For example, the train is moving and then the "mini trains" in the middle of the map are also moving down the rails. It could have been my internet connection but, I did not have any lag on Vekta Cruiser.
Gamebler 05-01-2009, 11:24 AM I played a little of both maps, and I gotta agree with Camdog about the cruiser. It's kinda small.
The train map is alright. It has some length to it, although it's not very wide. The part I'm still trying to get used to is jumping between the parallel trains without dying. The first match I played I died an awful lot because I kept getting hit by the environment or falling off the damned trains.
All in all, I'd say if you really play Killzone a lot, get 'em. $5.99 is not awful lot for what you're getting.

I definitely agree with that. My biggest complaint is that I felt like I was trapped in a box. Sure the levels themselves are big, but the areas seemed as if I was always going through a doorway into a tiny room filled with obstacles.

NeonSkull 05-01-2009, 02:20 PM Played the maps for a few hours last night, I think they both add something new which the other maps dint have. no lag on the crusier level for me. the train level was good for large teams as you can really feel when you are pushing the other team back. the isa ship level is probly going to be good for tight small team games with lots of tactics. money well spent. unlike the crap cod5 map(minus zombie mode).

Out of the two, Vekta cruiser i think is better but still not as good as any of the previous maps. I suppose that's to be expected, given usually the best ones are bundled with the game. Both of them are small and manevuerability is an issue, i was hoping for bigger maps and i'm holding out on retro pack having at least one of pyrrus rise's size.
I'd say get them but you're not going to prefer these over the regular maps.

Same here; curse those snipers and their 'spot-&-mark' ability. ><
As for the news maps, I've only played Cruiser so far and I have to say it's really fun to play. I'll strongly recommend playing as a sabouter since you can easily take alternate paths to make the enemy think you're one of them plus, on most games I've played, everyone else plays the sabouter too.
I've still yet to play the bullet train one but I can't help feeling that I'm going to die alot on that on, not just from getting shot at. :huh:
Absolutely love both of the maps so far, and they work like a charm with my STA-14+Disguise+HP combo.

Im happy that they added these two maps they were my favorites from the First K2. Beach Head of course being the best.
The Southern Hills map will be more of a sniper map
and Beach Head will be for smaller battles.
So what are your thoughts?

Finch 05-20-2009, 05:13 PM Personally, I think the KZ2 maps are way overpriced. Yeah sure its only 6$. But when You can buy a full PSN game for 10$ that has way more content, it just is not worth it.
And after hearing the steel and titanium maps were neat, just not that neat, makes me even more meh on the map packs.
Especially after paying the 10$ for the CoD4 maps. Everyone tries to skip creek every time, chinatown is cool but same thing vote usually gets to 5 or so. I just don't really enjoy those maps much and dont think they were worth the 10$.
Maybe give me all 4 KZ maps for 9.99$ and ill think twice. Until then ill save my money and buy Fat Princess.

edit: on second thought i dont really care. i got the 1st DLC from gamesharing and do not use it at all. i hate those maps. never play them

All that is missing is a better search feature to find the maps you want to play. I'd like to have the new maps in a rotation. but it's hard to find them if that map isn't the one being played.

On Tuesday, June July 14th 2009 at 8AM Greenwich Mean Time, Guerrilla Games will release the 10th update for the visceral shooter, Killzone 2.
Patch 1.28 will be 91MB in size (316MB for Asian release) and will be released worldwide simultaneously pending a server update. There will be an anticipated server down-time of about 2 hours while the patch is rolled out and the server updates are completed and tested. The following fixes and features are included in this latest release:
Feature - Code support for DLC pack III “Napalm & Cordite”. The update will enable players to create games with the newest maps “Suljeva Cliffside” and “Arctower Landing”
Feature - Code support for DLC to allow the additions of the Flamethrower and the Boltgun to multiplayer.
Trophies – New trophies added for DLC pack III “Napalm and Cordite”.
Feature - Detailed information screen when browsing games. Items displayed include: Friendly Fire, Faction Balancing, Custom Weapons and Custom Badges as well as the region, game size, selected maps and allowed Missions and Badges.

The following fixes and features are included in this latest release:
- Code support for DLC pack III “Napalm & Cordite”. The update will enable players to create games with the newest maps “Suljeva Cliffside” and “Arctower Landing”
- Code support for DLC to allow the additions of the Flamethrower and the Boltgun to multiplayer.
- New trophies added for DLC pack III “Napalm and Cordite”.
- Detailed information screen when browsing games. Items displayed include: Friendly Fire, Faction Balancing, Custom Weapons and Custom Badges as well as the region, game size, selected maps and allowed Missions and Badges.

Napalm & Cordite, the new downloadable content pack for Killzone 2, contains two exciting new multiplayer maps: Suljeva Cliffside, which takes place on the rocky outskirts of the Suljeva mining village; and Arctower Landing, which revisits the Arctower defense posts of Blood Meridian.
On top of that, the DLC pack allows you to wield a pair of weapons which were previously accessible only through the single player campaign!
Napalm: The VC1 Flamethrower
Found in the Suljeva Cliffside map, the VC1 Flamethrower projects an ignited stream of flammable liquid at high pressure. Consisting of low-octane gasoline and an unidentified component indigenous to Helghan, this form of Napalm is extremely effective for clearing out enemy trenches and bunkers.
Cordite: The Boltgun 4400
Also known as “The Handyman”, the semi-automatic Boltgun 4400 can be picked up in the Arctower Landing map. It uses Cordite to propel metal bolts at an extremely high velocity, often pinning its targets to walls and other objects. In addition, each round contains a time-delayed explosive charge – so if impalement doesn’t finish the target off, the ensuing explosion will.
Napalm & Cordite – an explosive cocktail
Both of these weapons radically alter the Killzone 2 multiplayer dynamic, delivering an experience that’s as fresh as it is intense. If you’re a veteran Killzone 2 online player looking to mix it up, or if you simply liked wielding these weapons in the single player campaign, Napalm & Cordite is your ticket. On Tuesday, June July 14th 2009 at 8AM Greenwich Mean Time, Guerrilla Games will release the 10th update for the visceral shooter, Killzone 2.
Patch 1.28 will be 91MB in size (316MB for Asian release) and will be released worldwide simultaneously pending a server update. There will be an anticipated server down-time of about 2 hours while the patch is rolled out and the server updates are completed and tested.
