I got KZ2 a while back, and love just about everything about it. One thing I noticed toward the end of the campaign, however, was that the Helghast didn't really feel like bad guys. Despite such things as Visari's Fanatic speeches and the harsh environments of Helghan, the setting as I understood it was leaning slightly in favor of the Helghast.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the story over the two games seems to go like this: the helghast are an offshoot of humanity that has adapted to a harsh planet to the extent that they are hardly human. They take control of an unoccupied planet, Vekta, and then humans shoot them and take it. They try to get it back in Killzone 1, and we shoot more of them. In Killzone 2, we decide to go to their planet, despite a lack of diplomatic efforts and Helghan attempts to retake Vekta after the first, and shoot more of them to take by force that which we cannot claim by right.
Is it just me, or are the helghast, despite their appearance and military lifestyle, the good guys? Many a society has been led astray by a tyrannical leader, so why are the Helghast any different? Sorry for the Wall o' text post, but some things need telling.

That is what they wanted you to feel. If you read up on the story, they wanted you to question who was actually the bad guys.

No, in the first game the Helghast come to Earth and try to take Earth over (this is why there are some other colours rather than brown and grey in this game) because the Helghast want the Earth's resources and (I think) more space
Then in the second game the ISA retaliate against the Helghast and try to take over Vetka
Oh and also as a note the ISA and the Helghast used to be allies or trading partners
But also I always liked the Helghast even if they represent Nazi's in the game

No The Helghast had colonized Vekta first, were kicked off by the ISA and sent to Helghan, the sister planet in the system. They then decided to try and retake Vekta (Killzone 1) and were fought back. Vekta was their's first, and KZ1 took place there.

I thought this too. I felt sorry for the falling troopers i implanted bullets into and would have liked to play as the Helghast so i could fight for justice ! Radec and Vasari were great also and i wish they hadn't have got killed.
But online you can play as the Helghast so it isn't that bad. Maybe there will be a spinoff game that lets you play as the Helghast.
