Ive been playing through ratchet and clank and im loving the skill points system its a great thing for ps3 games to have.
But im wondering how you guys think it will be put into the trophy room for ps home i mean if you get a trophy for each skill point then its going to take up a lot of space or maybe they might not incorporate the skill points in home as not all ps3 games have them.
What do you all think skill points or trophys linked or not? and how do you think sony will handle this.

well you pick from the list of trophies you want to display and then you display them in the trophy room, the others are not displayed.

thanks kiljoy do you think they will do a unified trophy system for all ps3 games not just sony titles?

I hope so, but I am sure Sony will help out any 3rd parties who want to include it.

How can a middle aged Italian plumber who has jumped on stuff for about 20 years beat the true next gen platformer a.k.a. ratchet and clank?
And also mijamoto(if that is how his name is spelled) is called a genius every year for what? he uses the same characters over and over again but just put some new thing to jump on like Lono pointed out(you know Lono canīt be wrong ;)).Even where nintendo has the largest fanbase(Japan) Mario couldnīt even help the wii outsell the ps3 when Galaxy it came out:eek:, while when ratchet and clank came out they brought with them pretty big ps3 sales and sold in thousands.
So how and when did Mario imbarrase ratchet and clank:confused:

Rachet and Clank > mario.

Why? because at least they have dialogue and... wait for it... an actual plot!!!

I know... I amaze myself sometimes as well.

Wow, yet another innocent thread totally hijacked by the fanboys. Who cares if Mario beats Ratchet or whatever, the question was about how Ratchet would be depicted in the trophy room. I swear some people on here just purposely troll to start a flame war.

PS. Super Mario Galaxy's gameplay shats all over Ratchet from a great height ;-)

Back on topic, I thought Insomniac has already stated that R&CF won't necessarily support Home. I know Naughty Dog has said they hope to implement Home support with Uncharted. Moreso than Home, I'll be happy when/if they work out, announce, and hopefully mandate the underlying structure that'll be used by Home. Most people seem confused that Home and its Trophy Room are their system, when I think it's fairly clear that Home and its Trophy Room are simply a graphical front end to it.

Judging solely from the videos show, it looks like you'll have an area where you can display "prized" trophies from games as opposed to every single thing earned. And I don't know about you, but taking Uncharted as an example, I'm not too interested in having a display case full of my "treasures", I'd rather have something more intricate (that may be ahead of me, I'm only 2/3 through the game right now) rather than a "silver ring" or such...

Skill points definitely seem to align rather closely to 360 Achievements and in Uncharted, the Bonus system does as well (with the added "bonus" of actually getting rewards for earning them).

I think the only thing clear is that there isn't a clear system yet (announced or implemented). I suspect that since Home and this underlying system weren't up and going from the get go, we're going to have some point in the future where the majority of the mainstream titles "switch over" to supporting the new system. There will likely be little to no effort to go back and retrofit older titles and I bet there will be hold-outs that barely or don't support it for some time after the switchover.

In other words, there isn't going to be "a day" that everyone suddenly starts supporting this stuff. They have the benefit of seeing what's been done and improving on it, but the burden of doing it after launch and with every watchful eye on them waiting for the inevitable missteps.

I agree rothbart the only clear thing with regard the trophy room is that nothing is clear.
We may just have to wait for more info from sony but they have been pretty quiet on the trophy room since it was first shown and i do not think it was in the home beta at all so its clear that it still has a way to go before its done and all its systems and the way they intergrate are known.
It is great fun to speculate on what sony will do with the trophy room but if its as good as the skill point system then they will be onto a winner.
And im not sure on the bonus system in uncharted as the game is not out in the uk yet i have it on pre order is it as good to play as it looks?

The trophy room is not in the Home Beta (I'm in it).

The only problem I had with the Skill Points is that they aren't all listed. How are you supposed to know what they are? It's one thing if the game gave you a list of what to do, but unless I'm mistaken, they don't. You have to either get lucky, or look the list up on the internet.

Which means I like them about as much as "hidden Achievements".
