Just wanted to discuss with you guys what makes a really sick ending to a game. For example..PORTAL. That game gave me a huge sense of accomplishment when I finished it, even though it was a short game. While other games such as bioshock leave alot to be desired. What do you think is critical for a game to include in order to end well. Feel free to include examples of what games you thought ended well...or not so well.

Of course Portal has the best ending. That ridiculous boss "fight" and that song. LOL

I haven't liked the Halo 2 or 3 endings so I'll have to go with that. Can't really think of an ending that really stands out from the rest. Maybe when i pick up orange box i will agree with the portal ending.

Going back a bit, Ocarina of Time and Deus Ex are two of my all time favourites. Portal was great as well. Halo 2's sucked and MGS2 got a bit absurd as I remember.

Yeah Halo 2 was a major cliffhanger but they had to have some reason for millions of people to buy Halo 3!

Yeah Portal would win for best ending. I didn't really care for Crackdown's. If there was Crackdown 2 I wouldn't mind but theres not gonna be one.

For the people that RTFB understood more about Halo 3 with the Cortana cutscenes and the ending. Like....The planet at the end of Halo 3 was Onyx, the shield planet. There are other spartan and the creator of the spartan on there from the stories.

Well, Assasin's Creed was odd to begin with. But at the end they said "Hey, I just had a great idea, what if we just ignore reality even more than we already are! Brilliant!" and even at that I would only call it weird not bad. And I can safely say "sequal"

They could easily have told the story and done the ending in a far more epic way, but they failed at that. The ending was mediocre, I suppose, but all it really does is leave it open to a Halo 4 or something similar. I absolutely loved the warthog escape, but despite the excellent music and epic gameplay, they still can't tell a good story. Again, if they had another developer to aid them in their storytelling techniques, they could definitely have told an incredible story. But they didn't.

Best ending was Ocarina of Time and worst ending was Gears 2. The game was fun but the end boss could have been handled much better. Point hammer, shoot, roll credits.

My favorite one was MGS4, it was little cheesy but it was very well done.

Halo 2's ending I thought was brilliant. The echoing cry of fan boys who don't understand good marketing was (and still is) glorious. It was a subtle ending that has a bitch slap like Resistance 2's or Billy Mitchell.

Gears of War 2 had one of the most disappointing ending battles I've ever played. Halo 3's legendary ending was pretty good, only because it pretty much confirmed halo 4, or atleast another game with the chief.

You've got a good point. Every single one of my friends except for this FPS xbox 360 fanboy friend have all played Ocarina of Time... Ah, good memories... Too bad Ganon keeps coming back EVERY SINGLE TIME. This game is like the mario franchise but more serious... It never ends, but still a great classic.

One of the best endings was from Starcraft, where Tassadar crashes his Carrier into the Overmind. Worst ending has to go to Fable 2 just because the final boss is easy.Also, because my dog died

Onyx was destroyed, so the planet can't be Onyx, M$ probably forced Bungie to put an ending like that just to make people think there's going to be a Halo 4.

Onyx was glassed not destroyed, meaning all lifeforms were wiped out from the surface. It is the same thing that happened to Reach.

XIII was also a game without an end. Splinter Cell: Double Agent still doesn't have a conclusion. Kingdom Hearts games never really end either.

I liked Bioshock's good ending. I thought it was sweet (tear). I thought the first Halo ending was good. The Second was a huge steaming pile. And the third one! How is leaving the story open for a sequel, "Finishing the Fight!"

Fallout 3, I love the game and all, but that was a bad ending. Fable 2 is the same as Fallout 3. GTA games for the most part are not the best endings. (I still love the end of GTA 3. *spoiler* That girl is just talking away and BANG! silence.

KOTOR had a good ending. The Mark of Kri had a good ending. The God of War games have good endings. Star Wars Episode 3 (the true sith ending) was great.

but those are my opinions. I like a problem building throughout a game to get all the answers and problems solved at the ending.

Fable 2 was easily the worst ending I've ever played. You shoot the main evil person once and he dies. He's not even moving so there's absoloutely no challenge. The random villagers you meet in the game are harder to kill than the last "boss".

Yeah, but they say the journey is the important part, not the ending. Maybe Bioware was taking that a little too literally.

One of the best endings for me, was Masseffect, gets you going to see whats going to happen next.

I'm probably gonna get flak for this but I thought Heavenly Sword had a good ending--especially now since there's not going to be a sequel (or so I've heard).

Tomb Raider Legend had a great ending. Lara screaming "WHERE (blam) IS (blam) MY (blam) MOTHER!" still sends shivers down my spine. Too bad TR Underworld was a glitchy mess.

The evil ending for Force Unleashed was awesome and would've made a better movie.

I've seen 4 of the 5 endings in Silent Hill Homecoming and they all sucked. I fell asleep during MGS4's ending.

Crackdown was a disappointment because it showed how good the game could have been. Instead we get an interesting ending for a game that had almost no story (besides the ending). The best would have to be Grand Theft Auto 4 for me.

If I remember correctly, I was all excited to see what kind of mischief I could have gotten into as a rogue agent, but then the game ends!

As for Fallout 3's ending, they are taking it out with the next expansion and upping the level cap to 30. I don't know if they're "fixing" it or changing it out, but apparently they got two full boatloads of shit for it.

Which version of Splinter Cell: Double Agent do you mean? The Xbox, PS2 & Wii versions were a completely different (and better) game than the Xbox 360 & PS3 versions.

I owned both the Xbox & Xbox 360 versions at one point. The 360's "endings" sucked but as far as I know, there was only one ending in the Xbox version and that one was pretty cool.
