View Full Version : Sarcastic Gamer Radio #2: Baby Come Back
News Bot 04-20-2009, 01:40 AM http://sarcasticgamer.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/radio.jpg*</p> The first Sarcastic Gamer Radio was a polarizing experience to say the least. *The show is indeed a work in progress, and we gathered a lot of feedback and went back into the audio workshop for another go.
Sarcastic Gamer Radio #2: *Baby Come Back
With Paul Christy out on vacation this week, we introduced a brand new full-length SG Parody song debut (look for the video on IGN later this week)!
We got into games like Hawx, Chronicles of Riddick, and touched a little more on CoD:WaW. *We also had a little talk about a topic Truth n Justice brought up on the blog last week, about how NXE’s party system is sorta killing the social aspect of Xbox Live.
You’ll hear from several community members in the 15 seconds of fame program, and a touching final farewell to former listener Shane86 to whom we wish nothing but the best.
Next week, Paul Christy returns along with (possibly) a special guest.
Please keep your feedback coming and understand that for those who do offer CONSTRUCTIVE feedback, you’re being heard, as we hope this show demonstrates.
Please stop by**iTunes* (http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=260079519)and*subscribe* (http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=260079519)to Sarcastic Gamer Radio. *You can also snag*RSS feed (http://feeds.feedburner.com/SarcasticGamerPodcast)*and get the show through your choice of platform (including Zune).
Of course you could always just get this handy-dandy*mp3. (http://media.libsyn.com/media/sarcasticgamer/SGRadio-002.mp3)
Special Thanks to Rothbart, Lono, Dave and the rest of the gang for help with the new parody song!

Vault Dweller 04-20-2009, 01:44 AM Can't wait to have a listen tomorrow night at work!
GideonB 04-20-2009, 01:46 AM Is it up on itunes yet, just downloaded other version but preferably I would like to dl through itunes and that first comment crap is hilarious. I listened to about 5 minutes of it atm. Great show guys C:
Thompson 04-20-2009, 01:51 AM omg omg omg omg omg SO EXCITED!

iTunes can take anywhere from 5 minutes to an hour to sync up with us sometimes.. It has to do with the middleman, feedburner, I do believe....
Pain in the ass sometimes.
My apologies for missing an F-Bomb in there guys... It just slipped through during "Haterade",.... My Bad.
djdsf 04-20-2009, 02:11 AM Well, I was away for the first show and I felt that if I made a comment it would get lost in the middle of all the conversations going on at the time, so I waited for this one and here is what I have to say about SG Radio.
To me, SG Radio makes me happy and sad/ Happy because it reminds me of what SG Red used to be like and how The SG podcast pretty much started, but also sad that Lono is not there, but I do understand the reasons for everything, so I guess having him there would make it different once more.
I'm fine with all the "silly crap" you put in on episode 1, I like it and it made the show really fun to listen to, I believe you guys really need to stick to that rather than trying to change the show (like you did in Ep 2) and make it a bit more like what SG red used to be. You guys ended SG Red for a reason and started SG Radio for the same one. Don't take a step back and start to fall into what Red used to be, do what you want to do and make the show fun, even if it means adding 5 minutes of fluff to it.
In the end, I already said it here once, don't turn into Major Nelson and go dull, this is a good move from the usual and even if some people don't like it (because they are afraid of change) you guys need to stick to it.
PS: Add some BGM next time please because dink dink doot doot (http://twitter.com/DocAdams/statuses/1563463970), does not really cut it.
mynameshouldntmatter 04-20-2009, 04:36 AM Still fun, but it needed more Paul Christy.
And well said almost in the end Doc!
Teh Flying Tea 04-20-2009, 04:44 AM What a differance a week makes thats one hell of a podcast i didnt notice an F bomb it was great so much better than last weeks
P.S the price is to high was great but in daves little comments during the song he should have dropped a pattented "YEAH FIDDY" lol
geostar 04-20-2009, 04:48 AM wow! what a huuuuuuuuuuge difference from last week! loved it! BABY COME BACK!
SauceyOne 04-20-2009, 05:42 AM Loving the show guys, was a bit hesitant last week but really like the way this one turned out! Great stuff!
Exane22 04-20-2009, 05:53 AM I enjoyed listening to the cast, you have awesome chemistry guys. The game talk was the best IMO, but it was fun to listen to. Thanks for the episode.
kim andre 04-20-2009, 05:57 AM i did not enjoy this doc, wow.... from going to cool crazy beats in the background to have no background music at all? wow.... i will post more when i get home from school so be prepared
xGBUKx Simple 04-20-2009, 06:08 AM Awesome show guys, in my opinion it was much better than last week as it had a lot more gaming news than last week and I approve the Doc vs. Dave this week. Brilliant idea.
I personally think that the sponsors could have been slightly funnier, but I suppose it makes up for the lacking of comedy with the parody song. I think that in time this will get a fantastic balance of gaming news and comedy.
Thoroughly enjoying the 15 seconds of fame as each week they are all... well unique. Can't wait untill next week to see what unique brand of comedy you can bring to the table.
Want Dave: The musical. Also the last little section with the traffic helicopter had me crying with laughter. That ought to get me through my week.
Shane86 04-20-2009, 06:12 AM Ploogle told me I was mentioned on the show so unfortunately I had to listen to it and all I can say is...
LOL
Bradford Ginna 04-20-2009, 06:45 AM Hey, I love the show, it was really cool to hear a bit more gaming talk and liked the angle of having one game each that you've been in to this week. Liked hearing bout Hawx as I've been right into EndWar at the minute, so Mr Clancy's up there in my good books at the minute.
The show has a really good balance of cumour, gaming, individuality and all that jazz.
Liked the parady song's link with half the world being out of work; getting current affairs in there a bit. It's good comedy to have your fingers on the pulse.
MosEisley 04-20-2009, 07:20 AM Really good episode guys, good to hear some more video game discussion.
One good thing to me about starting from scratch is getting the honor to watch the progression from the beginning again.
Dave... Going into the balcony's with electric fences is a good way to die. Awful strategy... You'll get nowhere doing that.
*runs on xbox live to change his gamer pic to the SG pic to prevent being deleted.*
EDIT: I forgot to mention that I really dug the parody song, I can't wait to see what kind of video you guys cooked up for it haha. You guys never fail to entertain me.
kim andre 04-20-2009, 07:21 AM ok here goes for nothing.
in the last episode there where ton of humor cool background music, awesome songs and even more awesome commercials.
this is just a re-skinned red show whit a new intro. damn i mean not even background music? what the hell? i want humor! i am sorry to say that i did not even smile while listening to the show, i was just left disappointed.
you did something revolutionary whit the sg radio 1. but this was just boring. this is not SG radio, this is just radio, and not a funny radio, but something like CNN.
it is ok to have a little more news than SG radio 1. but this was just to much, and when the show is boring, well it makes everything seem boring, the parody song was like ok but i am shure it would be much more of a laugh if the rest of the show was funny to.
i hope you change it to something between this one and SG radio 1.
regards kim andre
Hungry Luma 04-20-2009, 07:32 AM As much as I want to listen I have to save it until a long plane flight on Thursday night.

No offense but how would the rest of the show change the outcome of what you thought of the parody? It would still be the same song...
Artemas 04-20-2009, 07:49 AM This defiantly feels more like a podcast than the last one. It was not quite as funny but still very SG. Maybe a touch more humor between topics.
kim andre 04-20-2009, 07:52 AM No offense but how would the rest of the show change the outcome of what you thought of the parody? It would still be the same song...
ok let me put it like this, if an standup comedian have a show, he is boring as crap but he has one funny sentence. that funny sentence would be allot more funny if the rest was funny to, i mean then it will get a more over all funnyness, (yes i know i am making up my own words here)

Two words... Dane Cook.
That still makes no sense, it's either funny or it isn't, The content is either good or it's not nothing changes that. You're basically saying that the only way you would enjoy the parody is by essentially being overwhelmed by the humor of the previous segment in the show blinding you of the actual song itself.

no what i say is that the feling i get whit this show is like my grand ma dies and i got allot of money, well i am shure glad for the money but it sucks that my grand ma dies, the money will still be the same but it would feel bather if my grand ma didn't die. you got my point?
mynameshouldntmatter 04-20-2009, 08:13 AM no what i say is that the feling i get whit this show is like my grand ma dies and i got allot of money, well i am shure glad for the money but it sucks that my grand ma dies, the money will still be the same but it would feel bather if my grand ma didn't die. you got my point?
That is quite an awful sample.
heyfling 04-20-2009, 08:15 AM I loved this episode, it felt less rushed compared to last weeks episode. You might want to spread the 15 seconds of fame out more. I liked how you are changing the lyrics to the opening theme song each week, it gives each episode a fresh new feel to it.
Captain Splatch 04-20-2009, 08:24 AM Perfection at its best, thanks for the new show....
Ventilaator 04-20-2009, 08:40 AM I kinda-sorta agree with Kim Andre, your pace in episode 1 was too hectic, and now you brought it down to a red show level. What's the point of calling it SG Radio if it's still the red show?
I still liked the show, it's just that such a huge change of pace from episode to episode can probably get weird.
You went from basically not talking about games at all to only talking about games. Is it going to be a lottery every Monday from now on "Wow, I can't wait to see how they've totally changed what they were doing last week"
Come to think of it, wouldn't that be awesome?
RaiseHavok 04-20-2009, 08:48 AM Tremendous show Doc and Dave. I really liked how you all spent more time talking about games. There was also a nice mix of ads and skits to keep the show balanced. Not too much discussion and not too much goofiness. Just the right amount of each.
For next week, you guys should have a White Castle (or Crystal) eating contest. Who can devour 5 burgers the fastest?
Xgamr 04-20-2009, 08:51 AM It was a good episode but i fell there is still some improvements.
1) the pace and humor was great. keep that the way it is. Dave the musical was awesome. the parody song was above average but not near the older ones
2) you need talk about games a little more indepth or talk or gaming news as well as games. you one of the podcasts i listen to for gaming news ands when theres very little on it, i feel less compelled to listen to it when i get up/at school (i keep itunes up at night so its there when im up). if you find a good balance of game talk/news and the random bits, then the show would be better. i know youre trying to start over but if you are starting over i feel its best to keep some of the old mixed with new.
3) adding third host would be good. this mostly with my above post (#2)
otherwise keep up the good work and i will have my 15 secs in for next show.
The Dutch Don 04-20-2009, 08:58 AM Another good show gentlemen, thanks!
I have to disagree with the statement of the party system on XBL ruining the social aspect. I don't play in parties every time I go online and still enjoy meeting new people and idiots alike. I'm pretty sure that goes for a lot of other gamers.
Vinc360 04-20-2009, 10:23 AM ok... I officially love this show.
More game talk. That's the only thing the show needed.
It's almost perfect now.
Also, the intro was f****** awesome. The "previously on sarcastic gamer radio" thing made me rofl.
SaintMantooth 04-20-2009, 10:30 AM I can't believe Kim Andre just compared this show to his dead grandma.
I thought this show was very well balanced. Several moments where I actually lol'd and drew looks from people at work. Dave the musical is brilliant, I hope it's an every week thing! The parody song was fantastic as well.
You mentioned Paul being on break this week. So does that mean he's a permanent addition to the show?
no what i say is that the feling i get whit this show is like my grand ma dies and i got allot of money, well i am shure glad for the money but it sucks that my grand ma dies, the money will still be the same but it would feel bather if my grand ma didn't die. you got my point?
heh Dude. LITERALLY the only thing that changed this week was slightly longer segments for the talk breaks and Paul being not available.
Music? We did the same thing last week with bumper music and fades out... Go listen buddy.
I can't believe Kim Andre just compared this show to his dead grandma.

Lets say LONG TERM TEMPORARY... Permanent is a jinx.
Paul's old too... so... you never know.
Vinc360 04-20-2009, 10:53 AM wait wait wait... Paul is going to be on the next show? I thought it was just a first episode special or something... that's awesome!
Death roW 04-20-2009, 11:18 AM Love the show as always. Loved the PS3 price song :p
@Everyone complaining, i'm probably right in saying that since it is a new show - they are still trying things out, seeing what works, what doesn't etc. Just give 'em some time if you don't like it :p
SpAMCAN 04-20-2009, 11:22 AM Wow, wow, wow.
So much better than last week, and you guy spoke for more that 3 minutes!
FANTASTIC! 4 and a half stars!
Criamond 04-20-2009, 11:35 AM I thought SGR#2 was a nice improvement over the first episode. It seemed a lot less hectic than the first. I'm not really feeling the 15 seconds of fame bits for the most part, but think it's a good idea, if executed properly. Putting this one on the people creating them, not you guys. You've got 15 seconds, ladies and gents... make it funny or don't bother (bring on the put up or shut up... i've got some ideas).
My suggestion for the Doc vs Dave... following the thumb wrestling theme, I say you go for some good old fashioned indian leg wrestling. I don't care about the logistics of recording it, just make it happen, boys.
You keep making 'em, I'll keep listening.
lillieskeeper 04-20-2009, 11:37 AM I love how you guys listened to the community and talked about games a bit more and had great segments like before. It felt like a great comb.
Also I am keeping my thoughts to my self and writing a blog! Damn you Truth & Justice. Tee Hee.
regua 04-20-2009, 12:10 PM Yeah fiddy! Yeah!
Now THIS is what the SGR should look like. No ridiculous amounts of the clean sock crap, no outrageously stupid banana talk, just gaming discussion and a lot of fun.
But where the hell is background music?
kim andre 04-20-2009, 12:17 PM am i really the only one who liked the SG radio 1? i loved the energy and totally randomness ^^ it was so unique, but this is just like the red show all over again. and that is not good, cuz this is suppose to be something new.
Zvolen 04-20-2009, 12:21 PM I was one that had some criticism about the first episode of how hectic it was and how it needed to have longer "sections" with more gaming news. I am glad listened to the community, I thought this episode was a HUGE improvement. I really enjoyed this episode it had a great mixture of gaming, comedy and bits. Anyways keep it up guys...
It is kinda ironic that this parody song is released on 4/20 considering the original songs lyrics.
geostar 04-20-2009, 12:40 PM am i really the only one who liked the SG radio 1? i loved the energy and totally randomness ^^ it was so unique, but this is just like the red show all over again. and that is not good, cuz this is suppose to be something new.
well you ARE "the crazy Norwegian"
ThePianoMan 04-20-2009, 12:48 PM am i really the only one who liked the SG radio 1? i loved the energy and totally randomness ^^ it was so unique, but this is just like the red show all over again. and that is not good, cuz this is suppose to be something new.
I loved it too, and I find this an improvement.
Poor Shane, bet you feel bad now  SHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANE!:lol::lol::lol::lol: Great little segment
I really need to get to get some recording done for 15 seconds of fame.
Much more gaming based, and better for it in my opinion.
Shane, come back... please
Diortem 04-20-2009, 12:50 PM Loved it.... you guys are absolutely awesome... though please do me one favor... please please PLEASE do another episode like #1 some time? Maybe not all the time, but as a special once in a while, that would be awesome.
Still once again, laughing my ass off the whole time...
DogsDieInHotCars 04-20-2009, 12:52 PM fantastic show =) I really enjoyed the first one but liked this one even more! The gaming discussion should satisfy those looking for more in depth gaming discussion and the fun stuff....was FUN!
Bravo guys!
geostar 04-20-2009, 12:55 PM can you release the full version of the ps3 price drop song from episode 1 please!
can you release the full version of the ps3 price drop song from episode 1 please!
There isnt one lol... we literally just made up a few lines and quit on that one.
Thanks for the feedback. We're going to find that "happy place". Had Paul been available I think it would have been that much better and served the "silliness" fans a bit more too.
BlueDubs 04-20-2009, 01:20 PM Great show guys, Its like you took the crazy pace of the first show but slowed it down just enough to add enough about gaming so you end up satisfying everyone.
(And that Traffic news segment at the end had me in stitches )
nopain14 04-20-2009, 01:23 PM This episode 2# was great because there was more game talk you guys played games and it feels like the SGC is a big part of the show.BUT I want more game talk and more SGC -I don't listen to the red show for gaming news I listen for the gaming guys that talk about what they played this week and with who and more-and more game talk-read thread off the forums you thought was cool- Basicly "I want more. "More you want more"
geostar 04-20-2009, 01:27 PM also i loved the way you covered up swears with sheep noises! plus can you bring back the what the f*** section from the red show please!
AZRoboto 04-20-2009, 02:17 PM It was good. Please continue with the Dave the Musical bit. Keep up the good work!
bluec1988 04-20-2009, 02:46 PM nice i liked the ps3 parady, the greasy thumb wrestling, and sSSSSSSHANNNEEE! excellent show!
It was good. Please continue with the Dave the Musical bit. Keep up the good work!
yes dave the musical FTW!
jai92 04-20-2009, 02:50 PM Really great show guys, keep up the good work!
MUCH better than the last show, because you had more gaming discussion and less fluff. Well done Doc and Dave, this show is how SG podcasts should be: an equal distribution of humour and games.
Last week you guys were trying too hard to be funny, and when you guys don't try too hard is when the magic comes through
Ploogle 04-20-2009, 02:59 PM Great job! Listened to it twice, and the only thing I can think of to say is "Needs some bg music"...which means it's pretty dang good! Nice amount of time spent on discussing video games and about HALF the level of random goofball-itis while still retaining the hilarious "commercials" and humor that I've come to expect and love from SG.
Keep up the good work! 9/10. (10/10 if Paul Christy had been on.)
CaptainAverage 04-20-2009, 03:06 PM Awesome show guys - definitely better than the last one (which was still pretty good IMO); having a bit more gaming news is definitely the way forward.
It's also good to see that Dave and Doc are a bit more relaxed as well - and it's great that the constructive feedback that everyone's given here is being put in the show - so good skills to the whole of the SGC, I suppose. Well, apart from Shane86, of course. :)
Looking forward to the next one!
Spoon 04-20-2009, 03:16 PM I'm not a fan of the new format. I'm kind of stuck now. I kind of feel like SG is running off without me.
It had some funny parts and I will prob still listen, I just don't think it's ever going to work for me.
I still do appreciate you guys and the work you do.
Pixleh 04-20-2009, 03:36 PM Really liked that show. Less of the silly stuff and more of two guys talking about games. It was a great blend of the two. The end had me in fits of laughter. Loved it, you guys are back on form.
Although, no Paul Christy. That guy was awesome.
jai92 04-20-2009, 03:40 PM I'm not a fan of the new format. I'm kind of stuck now. I kind of feel like SG is running off without me.
It had some funny parts and I will prob still listen, I just don't think it's ever going to work for me.
I still do appreciate you guys and the work you do.
Why aren't you a fan? I understand that you must have been comfortable with the old format, but don't you think it's time to change, especially when one of the co-hosts leaves the old show?
zinc136 04-20-2009, 03:43 PM I gotta say a huge improvement over the last show in my opinion. I thought that you added the right amount of silliness and gaming talk to keep my attention and keep me entertained.
Though I still felt like you were missing something. The show would really be good if you added another host because it gives you more arguments over the discussions that used to spark arguments and funny moments on the red show.
Oh ya and a little more background music.
You had me smiling (I'm not known for laughing unless it's extremely funny).
In the entrance song did you say zincy?
ok... I officially love this show.
More game talk. That's the only thing the show needed.
It's almost perfect now.
Also, the intro was f****** awesome. The "previously on sarcastic gamer radio" thing made me rofl.
Dude I feel like you stole my name
Raven 04-20-2009, 03:54 PM Great episode. More talk about gaming and less sound bits in between segments. A great blend of humor from the SGR1 and and game talk from SGred. I do believe you already perfected the format.
Great job guys, once again. I liked the first one, too, you could tell how much work you put into it and I believe it payed off. This isn't a change from the first, just lengthened in sections, which seems to be paying off ;). Yet, I think that people have almost forgotten what the red show was like comparing this show to it. Keep up the good work, and just remember you're never going to make everyone happy, and nor should you or you're doing something wrong. You can't forget to do what You like, as well.
Loved the Parody, but I feel you're going to have a tough time topping "How to Kill a Brand (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KfmBzllkbUM&feature=channel_page)" for me! I still listen to that every now and then!
Keep it up!
Spoon 04-20-2009, 04:10 PM Why aren't you a fan? I understand that you must have been comfortable with the old format, but don't you think it's time to change, especially when one of the co-hosts leaves the old show?
I do understand that a change was in order, it just went a little too crazy for me. I enjoy something of a mix between what a lot of pod casts do (like a lot of 3 minute clips and rushed topics) and the long and draw out conversations about nothing that a lot of other pod cast do. SG was that perfect balance for me.
What I found was that pod casts either hit you with topics like a pie in the face and then ran to the next one or they lingered so long on a topic that they began theorizing the origins of human life.
SG was somewhere in the middle. Now they lean a little too much to the pie in the face side of things.
The hosts are still engaging, the topics are still relevant and the material is still funny. I give the show all of that.
Please don’t mistake me for nit picking or anything like that. I still love the community and think it’s the best I've been to. Heck, I submitted writing samples because I want to be more of a part of it.
The guys just asked for honest feed back and this is mine.
A Rabid Moose 04-20-2009, 04:29 PM I liked it. Good job. I want to see some freestyle rapping, though.
I have to say I've not once used NXE's party system.
That whole implementation never felt like the X-Box live I've had for years. Besides the fact that there's only a few (if many at all) I consistently play with from game to game. I like going into a game flying solo a lot of the time to see what you get, make a team with some people you meet along the way. Perhaps, run with them for awhile and then probably on to the next game if you can. I always found it more entertaining to keep the flow of the games like a revolving door, always kept the game fresh for me.
Not to mention I feel it as a civil duty on myself to file as many GamerTags as I can who spew idiocy out of their mouths from moment to moment. Not that it helps, but it makes me feel accomplished. In a.. worthless superhero kind of way. :cool2:
As far as the Fallujah... well I have quite a few family members and friends in the military and as far as my impressions from speaking with them on many occasions is: If you're going to do something, do it right, don't pussyfoot around it just do it and make it mean something. England is pushing to ban this game, if you haven't heard, and to that I say let them. This medium of ours needs to grow some overdue balls and have mature mean mature. That doesn't mean the more blood and cussing the better. Fallujah was hell for some, death for more, and the choices that had to be made by those some, even more daunting. To censor that in ways to dilute it would discredit the entire thing.
My prediction is that this game won't reflect such a situation rightly, if there is even a way to do that. Not that you want, 'a game that inflicts post traumatic stress syndrome,' but just the overall sense of the time. It's a fine line, and most definitely a double edged sword they're working on.
It might be, 'just a game,' but Schindler's List is, 'just a movie.' I don't see any reason why we can't have just as powerful types of games. Give mature a new meaning more then blood, f*ck sayings, and tits... that is all.
Victorsxl 04-20-2009, 04:51 PM Cool stuff!
blackcat0158 04-20-2009, 04:55 PM I wasn't entirely impressed with the first episode, but I gave number two a listen. And ended up with scalding coffee coming out my nose... Twice.
Screw you guys for making a hilarious (albeit painful) podcast.
Keep it up! It's got some of the magic that the Red show did!
zinc136 04-20-2009, 05:03 PM I liked it. Good job. I want to see some freestyle rapping, though.
Omg I f'n hate you dude. I was gonna say that in my post above, but I forgot that I wanted to so it went untouched.
Needless to say the next competition should be a rap battle.

I appreciate that you're giving honest feedback and I understand that, but they are experimenting and finding their feet again after Lono's departure. I miss the old show as well, but I'm glad they got back up and are trying new things.
Mysour 04-20-2009, 06:21 PM I've been looking forward to SGR all week...but haven't listened to it yet...waiting for a free moment.
Talkingship 04-20-2009, 06:45 PM I appreciate that you're giving honest feedback and I understand that, but they are experimenting and finding their feet again after Lono's departure. I miss the old show as well, but I'm glad they got back up and are trying new things.
Give Spoon a chance to speak his mind. He's got an opinion and he's entitled to it.
Wait a second. Is this the same Spoon that said he didn't like the Talkingship SGCP and didn't see what all the Hoopla was over it??
F this guy. His opinions are crap!
So all we got from Shane86 is an LOL. Did he come back?
Shane86 04-20-2009, 07:09 PM So all we got from Shane86 is an LOL. Did he come back?
HELL YEAH

frungus 04-20-2009, 07:28 PM Yeah guys. I have been listening to SG red since about.... episode 20, and now this. I love it. I haven't seen a podcast so funneh.
Dog soldier 205 04-20-2009, 07:33 PM Yooohoooooooo great show keep it up
TheWorldEndsWithMe 04-20-2009, 07:46 PM Dave: The Musical needs to be in every episode. I don't care if it gets old. It's my favorite part.
NuclearNinja 04-20-2009, 07:59 PM AWESOME JOB GUYS!! I espically like the first 20 seconds of it that was definately the best. *wink* *wink*
Also next episode you guys' face off should be a screaming contest.
photomaster94 04-20-2009, 08:04 PM big difference from SG radio #1. i like #1 a bit better. i want a least one more small random segment. and i understand that paul christy was gone but that guy is so funny.
Lesley 04-20-2009, 08:35 PM Now that Shane86 is back, you should ban him from the site. lol!
donmoonie 04-20-2009, 08:56 PM Doc vs Dave should be who can swallow a spoonful of cinnamon first...apparently its impossible
Masselli18 04-20-2009, 09:33 PM He's talking about his dick man!
NuclearNinja 04-20-2009, 10:46 PM yes, yes he is.
PikminGuts92 04-20-2009, 11:26 PM SHANE!!!
Great episode! I love the new parody! Me and my friends use to sing because I got high all the time. The parody is just so well done.
I can't wait for Dave the musical. :D
Vault Dweller 04-21-2009, 12:01 AM Marked improvement from the first show, guys. I like how on-topic it was. Glad to see Doc playing some games! And Chronicles of Riddick, no less. I'm part way through the Butcher Bay section myself. What did you guys think of the gunplay? I don't think I recall you two mentioning anything about it.
And I'm still getting used to Dave talking so much, it's odd. ;)
Liked the "haterade" bit, too.
Keep it up, gentlemen. :)
Gir15 04-21-2009, 12:13 AM Nice job guys, it was pretty good with the 15 seconds of fame and screaming for Shane86. haha, it's a good laugh.
Talkingship 04-21-2009, 12:44 AM I liked this one better than the 1st (and I liked the 1st!) And now Shane86 must ALWAYS listen to SGRadio no matter what. So it was said, so it is written.
One thing though, I think you should cut back on the 15 seconds of fame. They're fun and I'm glad you have them, but maybe just have two in the show. One in the beginning and one at the end.
SaintMantooth 04-21-2009, 01:13 AM "Did you know that there are more than 100 people currently using the internet? It's true. And that's why we're asking you to f****** stop it! Give somebody else a chance"
I just about blew Dr. Pepper out my nose.
Shaha44 04-21-2009, 01:20 AM "Did you know that there are more than 100 people currently using the internet? It's true. And that's why we're asking you to f****** stop it! Give somebody else a chance"...
That skit was absolutely brilliant!
Excellent show gents. I must say I enjoyed it much better than episode one. I will repeat nearly the same thing as many of earlier posts have stated. I liked it more due to the fact you guys had more gaming "news" than the last episode. Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy the comedy sketches very much, but it seemed like in episode one you tried too hard to make it funny.
In my honest opinion you guys seemed much more relaxed and just went along with the flow of things. Keep up the great show!
Spoon 04-21-2009, 09:05 AM I appreciate that you're giving honest feedback and I understand that, but they are experimenting and finding their feet again after Lono's departure. I miss the old show as well, but I'm glad they got back up and are trying new things.
No doubt about that. I would hate to see them give it up but I think we all knew that was not going to happen.
Maybe if it was a bit longer so they could chew on the games a bit more? Sounds kind of like backward logic I know. I don't like this so give me more...
Plus, I'm sure they have some kind of logistical reason for the show length.
Give Spoon a chance to speak his mind. He's got an opinion and he's entitled to it.
Wait a second. Is this the same Spoon that said he didn't like the Talkingship SGCP and didn't see what all the Hoopla was over it??
F this guy. His opinions are crap!
lol, much love for the Spoon here lately.
Why don't you sober up, come over here on dry land and say that? Huh? Huh? That’s what I thought...Matey.
Nah, it’s all good. Props to you guys for making it work and putting out something that people enjoy. You do sound like you have a lot of fun.
P.S. you want to settle this like a man? You, me, and tennis on the Wii.
Any time. Any place. Bring it.
P.P.S.
I think your idea of cutting back the 15 SOF is good.
Olimar 04-21-2009, 09:09 AM ooo I wanna know who the special guest will beeee!
QF3ck3r 04-21-2009, 09:45 AM I approve. Continue on this course with my blessings.
LEGEND 04-21-2009, 10:26 AM I'm typing this trying to think of what I could suggest to improve the show, and seriously I cant think of anything. This episode was freaking hilarious guys, I'm loving the shane86 song and the 'next time on sarcastic gamer' feature. My only suggestion is to make it longer, because you can never get enough of a good thing.
WelshWonder 04-21-2009, 02:32 PM LOL
I loved it. Not because I was in it, but because it improved on the first one in so many ways.
First, more talk about GAMES. Wonderfull!
Another, The parody song. I loved it, especially when Dave said 'I think he's talkin' bout his d*ck'.
It was funny, but not like trying-too-hard funny. This one was more natural. Felt as though it was less scripted.
Well done guys!
matty smith69 04-21-2009, 02:47 PM This weeks episode was alot stronger i only just become a member of the website and love everyons sense of humor keep it up =)

The Moon 04-21-2009, 04:34 PM Hey guys, I just wanted to drop by and say great work Doc and Dave on SGRadio #2. When I listened to the first episode I thought it was (I'm sorry, I didn't love it) OK, it was cool to have a new show, but it was a bit of a jumble. Thankfully, you guys really pulled it together on this episode. I really enjoyed it, good job! Awesome job on the parody song, it was very funny, and I can tell you really put lots of effort into it.
Also a suggestion for the Doc-Dave face-off. How about a dry cracker eating contest. If you don't know how it works, (I'm sure you do) you have to eat cream crackers on their own, no spread on the crackers or water, and the first one to give up and take a sip of water is the loser! Looking forward to the next show. :)
MeRcEnArY 04-21-2009, 04:36 PM Welp, c-ya later
Staying on the forum though, and you dont have to be such a dick do ya?
IceKatana X 04-21-2009, 04:59 PM I'm really loving pretty much everything about the show. It's a big improvement from the first one but I would like to here more gaming related stuff. The parodies are pretty sweet too.
PsychoticBagel 04-21-2009, 05:09 PM Wow, the last part about shane86 made me come to reilise that Doc & Dave really dont give a crap about the community. I don't get why the podcast is OTT & Random, No news about games what so ever its stupid and theres no point to it. So SG Podcast to SG Radio is probaly the worst change to a podcast ever.
The Real SG R.I.P

Umm sorry what? If they didn't give a crap about the community, there wouldn't be any 15 seconds of fame, there wouldn't be 4 people named from the forums at the start. The show is even more community based now than it ever was so what the hell are you talking about?
Until now I've stood back and watched but some of the criticisms in this and the last episode thread are completely unjustified. To say these guys don't care about the community is a disservice to the podcasts and this site in general.
Now get off the bandwagon and come back once you have some constructive criticism.
MeRcEnArY 04-21-2009, 05:33 PM @Shane, The 15seconds of fame was recently added and consists of . . . sheer randomness
Doesn't really make me want to keep listening.

Ok your intitled to an opinion & so am i, ok so the 15 seconds of fame, what you get is 15 seconds of 'community members' saying random crap that relates nothing to anything. Why use the podcast to say random crap when there is a forum or even the commuinty podcasts.
strika234 04-21-2009, 05:49 PM If anything they have turned a lot more inward than ever before.
During the red show, beyond a reference to "the forums" there was no talk about the community.
What makes you think they don't care exactly? I just can't seem to see your path of logic...
Brian 04-21-2009, 05:53 PM The show seems unprofessional now, and I'm not going to lie this was my main interest in it. Also without lono it feels lonely, that's not my main concern I just think they shouldn't try to much new stuff and just stick with what made them good.
MeRcEnArY 04-21-2009, 05:54 PM @Strika234 I think he means that the change has seemd desperate, makes me think the whole thing is fake now. That and the site is called "Sarcastic GAMER" Not "Sarcastic Randomness"
kingofnoland 04-21-2009, 05:55 PM Wow this show is getting attacked, So I'll give my opinions two episode's in.
I was one of the minority that actually liked episode 1, sure it didn't cover much in the way of games, but it did the comedy side very well. Which is what s.g is all about, I go listen to other podcasts for an in depth discussion about video game news.
Episode 2 however was a completely different kettle of fish, It was awesome. This is how I feel the podcast should be (obviously with p.c when he is back.) You got me to laugh a lot, the internet sketch in particular made me nearly choke on some crisps, you could have killed me! :) But you always got a brief discussion about games in as well, even making me laugh more in the process. Plus the larger focus on the community means it's everything I want from the podcast. Plus Dave has been really coming on to his own. well done all round. My only problem is I enjoy it that much it flies by and I feel like I want more, which can only be a good thing.
Keep up the great work, I'm just sorry it's not to everyone's taste. although I don't understand the criticism of the lack of community, These two episodes have had more than the red show used to have?
PsychoticBagel 04-21-2009, 05:57 PM If anything they have turned a lot more inward than ever before.
During the red show, beyond a reference to "the forums" there was no talk about the community.
What makes you think they don't care exactly? I just can't seem to see your path of logic...
If it was for the community they would cover all news on gaming & talk about the community, except talking nothing about GAMING rather than talking about The community and nothing but OOT Randomness.
MeRcEnArY 04-21-2009, 06:00 PM @Kingofnoland: If it is about comedy then why is it still in the "games" section of itunes podcast. Its always been about games, and used to be about the commuinty with out shoving it down my neck ever 2mins.
Shane86 04-21-2009, 06:01 PM talking nothing about GAMING rather than talking about The community and nothing but OOT Randomness. They talked about HAWX, riddick and cod:waw. Or were you too busy listening to the people joining here just to diss the show? Obviously someone who isn't on the site isn't going to enjoy the show as much, but then this new show isn't aimed at them is it.
MeRcEnArY 04-21-2009, 06:03 PM @Shane, Bagel has listend since episode one man, i know that for a fact
PsychoticBagel 04-21-2009, 06:06 PM They talked about HAWX, riddick and cod:waw. Or were you too busy listening to the people joining here just to diss the show? Obviously someone who isn't on the site isn't going to enjoy the show as much, but then this new show isn't aimed at them is it.
Wow they bring up 2 games they've already talked about but have you justed been listen up your own ass to hear? i want them to talk about games coming out.
Brian 04-21-2009, 06:07 PM They talked about HAWX, riddick and cod:waw. Or were you too busy listening to the people joining here just to diss the show? Obviously someone who isn't on the site isn't going to enjoy the show as much, but then this new show isn't aimed at them is it.
HAWX has already be discussed,I'll give you riddick, and WAW has been out for a long bit now and they've covered what they discussed. So basically they talked about riddick. I want them to talk about stuff coming out or new stuff so that I can buy it based on recomendation. 1.Psycho has listened to every show. 2.There are plenty of people that don't go to the site but listen to the show. Like me for instance but I've liked the show forever. The show was meant to reach towards every gamer, it's ceased to do that.
Shane86 04-21-2009, 06:08 PM This change to the show had to be made, if you listened to the last red show, you'd know that type of show without Lono just wasn't going to work. If this new format isn't your cup of tea then fair enough but don't come on here bashing Doc & Dave for not caring about the community because that couldn't be further from the truth.
WelshWonder 04-21-2009, 06:10 PM @Kingofnoland: If it is about comedy then why is it still in the "games" section of itunes podcast. Its always been about games, and used to be about the commuinty with out shoving it down my neck ever 2mins.
I understand how you feel, but they talked quite enough about games.
How much d'you think they can talk about after a week? There isnt that much going on in the gaming world at the moment, so they gave their honest opinions about the games they played.
Dave and Doc actually have a life. So they cant spend every single day playing games constantly to inform the community of every single detail available.
They presented the information in a light-hearted way, and included comedy and the community into it.
Sorry, but without Lono, I dont think they can do much better than that. And it was very, very entertaining.
Brian 04-21-2009, 06:12 PM This change to the show had to be made, if you listened to the last red show, you'd know that type of show without Lono just wasn't going to work. Are you a loony!!!!!! The show provided me with loads of useful information, I bought many a game on only their recomendation. The show could work just fine, even without lono they could do their own research and make an opinion. Also it ought to be obvious that we care about the show seeing as we were motivated enough to post on it's decline. I've not bashed anyone and I don't intend to, I just think they shouldn't have changed since it's for the worse.
kingofnoland 04-21-2009, 06:12 PM @Kingofnoland: If it is about comedy then why is it still in the "games" section of itunes podcast. Its always been about games, and used to be about the commuinty with out shoving it down my neck ever 2mins.
Which is why I preferred the second show as it did both. Just because it is about gaming doesn't mean it cant have a good comedy section, as long as the core is still around gaming (which I think it was, again especially in ep2.)
I personally never felt the community was being rammed down my throat, but I can understand that you did.
However I do feel It leaves Sg with a hole, Radio does well what Radio does but I feel there is now nothing like the blue show for the 360, let alone wii. However that is not a complaint against this show, just requesting one more podcast. (Which I know is incredibly unlikely, but is worth a shout. Plus it is covered by community podcasts to a certain extent.)
This is just my two cents, (well pence..)
MeRcEnArY 04-21-2009, 06:13 PM @welshwonder: Well the new VideoGameShow was packed with info about games and they all have lives too.

You do know Lono is making another SG podcast with Knuckles Dawson right?
MeRcEnArY 04-21-2009, 06:17 PM You do know Lono is making another SG podcast with Knuckles Dawson right?
Waaaaaa?! i didn't lol.
WelshWonder 04-21-2009, 06:17 PM @welshwonder: Well the new VideoGameShow was packed with info about games and they all have lives too.
I listen to the VideoGameShow too, but the simple fact is that Sarcastic Gamer Radio is a variety show. They implemented more gaming news into it.
The VideoGameShow (as the obvious title suggest) talk about games. Most of whom play on the PC, PS3, and 360. They are what is considered hardcore gamers, which Doc and Dave sure aint.
kingofnoland 04-21-2009, 06:18 PM You do know Lono is making another SG podcast with Knuckles Dawson right?
Yeah, I'm hoping this feels the hole. I was just saying that the room has been created for such a podcast. I just got carried away with myself with the unlikely bit.

Oh well i must be mistaken, My itunes must be wrong its saying that the new SG podcast is called SaecasticGAMER radio . . .
Brian 04-21-2009, 06:21 PM You do know Lono is making another SG podcast with Knuckles Dawson right?
Why couldn't he stay with the red show?! Did he want to see it crash and burn for shits and giggles? Even now why wouldn't he join back after seeing the decline of this once very informative and interesting gaming podcast. I'm utterly dissappointed. Instead of listening to sarcastic gamer I'll go listen to 3 red lights, at least I'll get the general gaming info I desire.
WelshWonder 04-21-2009, 06:22 PM Yeah, I'm hoping this feels the hole. I was just saying that the room has been created for such a podcast. I just got carried away with myself with the unlikely bit.
I'm hoping it feels the hole too.:lol:
PsychoticBagel 04-21-2009, 06:22 PM If they did care about the community why hasen't any of the SG Radio members wrote on this thread? we'll they would if they cared
Shane86 04-21-2009, 06:23 PM Instead of listening to sarcastic gamer I'll go listen to 3 red lights, at least I'll get the general gaming info I desire. are you kidding? On their last show they talked about old 80's tv shows for about 40 minutes.
Shane86 04-21-2009, 06:23 PM If they did care about the community why hasen't any of the SG Radio members wrote on this thread? we'll they would if they caredLook at the first page  God you're really clutching at straws at this point.
kingofnoland 04-21-2009, 06:25 PM I'm hoping it feels the hole too.:lol:
 shows how tired I am.
I'm not even going to edit that out. My sg hole needs feeling people!
Not that the new show doesn't feel it..
I think I'll finish that post there. It was going to weird places.:lipssealed:
Shane86 04-21-2009, 06:26 PM Why couldn't he stay with the red show?! Did he want to see it crash and burn for shits and giggles? .Because Doc hadn't played a game for months, and Dave didn't talk  Kind of hard to have in-depth game discussions by yourself.
Brian 04-21-2009, 06:26 PM  are you kidding? On their last show they talked about old 80's tv shows for about 40 minutes.
Well glad their show lasts about and hour and a half because that still gives them more time of talking about games than the new sg show. Anything at all will be better than what I got from this new podcast.
WelshWonder 04-21-2009, 06:26 PM Oh well i must be mistaken, My itunes must be wrong its saying that the new SG podcast is called SaecasticGAMER radio . . .
Then you really must check that out then. Because the last time I checked the general premice of the show changed from Gaming Podcast, to variety show.
The gaming news comes inbetween all of the information about the community in SG Radio.
I myself found it a welcome break from just general discussions about games that will not/are/will be awesome.
Dont get me wrong, I loved the SG Red Show, and I was easily as dissapointed as any with the first episode of the SG Radio. But they have listened, and it is a welcome improvement. It still has a long way to go, but at the moment, It's getting better.
MeRcEnArY 04-21-2009, 06:27 PM Look at the first page  God you're really clutching at straws at this point.
Wow shane, they wrote on 1 page out of 11, you realy think that justifys your point?

Why not listen to both? Does this podcast not do anything for you? Not even raise a smile?
Brian 04-21-2009, 06:29 PM Because Doc hadn't played a game for months, and Dave didn't talk  Kind of hard to have in-depth game discussions by yourself.
So he did it knowing the show would fall to such pathetic standards. Doc didn't have a 360 justifying his lack of gaming, dave was there for the bit of comedy and about 4 minutes of gaming knowledge, and I'd rather hear just lono than people talking about RIDDICK.
Shane86 04-21-2009, 06:30 PM Wow shane, they wrote on 1 page out of 11, you realy think that justifys your point?Doc also made post #34 #35 #49, Dave post #73. Do you expect them to reply to every single post or something? This thread is only 4 pages on my settings so I just said page 1.
Commander13CnC3 04-21-2009, 06:30 PM Nice show guyz:D

Lose a fan, gain a fan. Swings and roundabouts
MeRcEnArY 04-21-2009, 06:32 PM @Welshwonder: WTF?! are you serious? You got a bit board of all the talk about games? HELLO! Welcom to a website dedicated to talking about games. . . jesus, so basicaly the site has to change now to SarcasticVariety.com???
Sorry but you missing the point of what this website was about
Brian 04-21-2009, 06:33 PM Why not listen to both? Does this podcast not do anything for you? Not even raise a smile?
It made me smile once, when I realised how much of a joke it was. The show wasn't nessecarily made to make me smile, it was made to give me an informed opinion on games. If I wanted to smile I'd listen to the bugle, which I do regularly. I will admit though they were comical before and it gave me a kick but now it's uninformative and I don't care.
WelshWonder 04-21-2009, 06:34 PM Why not listen to both? Does this podcast not do anything for you? Not even raise a smile?
I challenge anyone to listen to the whole episode without raising a smile.
That would be someone I would admire, a person of pure steel.
Ploogle 04-21-2009, 06:34 PM Note to all: I can sing better than that. :D If I have a preset tune, that is. That was the third time I sang it, with a different tune each time. :P If I were given more time, I could sound better.
Maybe.

Yeah a light hearted take on gaming.
The new show is light hearted, and talks about games.
Plus don't forget when paul cristy is back, There will be more jokes about games. It fulfills the websites purpose quite well in my opinion.

Calm down!
Its ONE PODCAST. ONE SHOW. You have the choice of plenty of weekly podcasts to choose from, a website that is updated every day with indepth and humourous analysis of gaming news, and that isnt good enough for you?!
Stop whining and accept the fact that this is a podcast hosted by two people who are casual gamers. They play games in their spare time. It's a casual SG Radio Podcast for casual listening.
It's the equivilent of a Wii in the next generation of consoles. Different, but fun and informative.

Well episodes 30-75 were very heavy on gaming, or maybe thats just me misunderstanding again eh?
Sorry I'm late everyone, I was afk for a bit.
There's no reason to fight over this. If you are that opposed to SG Radio, we are sad to see you go. I just hope that you can come back and see what it becomes 5 or 10 episodes down the line. We changed Shane's mind, maybe we can change yours too.

With that comment the idea was put to use and the whole community was at daves hands.

I guess where me and you have a disagreement is in the purpose of this podcast. I feel not every gaming podcast has to be incredibly informative. As long as there it is still gaming related.
Take for example tv programs about sport, One can be incredibly factual and serious where another could involve say laughing at stupid things that happened on the pitch and making jokes about the game. Both are still about the sport, but have completely different meanings.
However no amount of debate (no matter how good the debate is) will change someone's sense of humour, if you didn't find it funny, then there's nothing I can do.
MeRcEnArY 04-21-2009, 06:43 PM maybe we can change yours too.
Maybe not eh? Untill you decide, as a podcast, to stand by why you made a gaming website in the first place.
It used to inform me, now it annoys me.

I don't think we are fighting, no one has insulted anyone else (except me and my diginity) we're just having a good debate. It's a tense one that's all. What these forums are all about after all.

It's not nessecarily a fight, we'd just like to show our feelings so that you may or may not act on them. They show in my opinion is empty, it's lost it's pull. This show didn't give me anything to fill my gameing info need. But lets put it this way, I'll be on the forums more often because they now contain more information than your show.
kingofnoland 04-21-2009, 06:48 PM Well episodes 30-75 were very heavy on gaming, or maybe thats just me misunderstanding again eh?
Well Yes the red show did at times, But that was the red show.
The website is about light hearted approach to videogames (such as the paradoy songs long before the podcast, but each show, writer, forum thread and blog takes it at a different angle.
But Like I've said already I ain't going to change your opinion and I accept that.

DogsDieInHotCars 04-21-2009, 06:51 PM It's either your cup of tea or not. Don't compare it to the Red Show because that's not what they're trying to duplicate.
Sarcastic Gamer has always been about the humor and entertainment for me...both on the podcast AND on the forums. That's why I'm truly digging SG radio!

So i take it you tuned out of the SG podcast for episodes 20 till about 75 then? because i seem to think that the show talked about games more than humour.
But as i've seen in this thread, i dont remember the facts right. . . . right?
rothbart 04-21-2009, 07:05 PM Maybe not eh? Untill you decide, as a podcast, to stand by why you made a gaming website in the first place.

Wow... that's two different things. As someone that's been with SG since there was an SG, I can tell you that the site was absolutely not created to be a "gaming information" site... there's "gaming news" websites out the ying-yang for anyone wanting that kind of stuff.
SG was intended to be a light-hearted "laugh a lot" community for gamers. A place where you can share your funny gaming stories, talk games, laugh, listen to parodies, listen to the podcasts that do have some information, but make sure it's presented in a (hopefully) fun way.
Take a look back (http://web.archive.org/web/20070618161723/http://www.sarcasticgamer.com/) at SG in its infancy (posts from its first week in 2007)... poking fun at stuff and having a laugh. That's why the site was created.
The direction the Red Show took and was headed, while possibly something some folks prefer, wasn't true to what SG was intended to be. I don't want you to take that as an implication that there was something wrong with the Red Show because that's not what I'm trying to say... I'm just saying your comment is clearly off base and it's probably not your fault.
If you're going to use the "back to its roots" notion, then you need to congratulate Doc and Dave for actually doing it. :wink2:

Nope...didn't tune out. I've been listening since about episode 9.
And where did I say that I did or did not like the Red Show? I haven't stated my opinion of the Red Show...nor will I. Because I want to concentrate on SG Radio. It's freaking FUNFUNFUN.
I like it. Period
MeRcEnArY 04-21-2009, 07:11 PM @Roth: Yes episode 1-10ish were fun and did a nice even mix of fun and gaming.
Im still listening to the blu show even though your show seems to be cramed full of info and only 1 episode had anysort of pun in it.
Maybe im here for the wrong reasons then . . . i was tricked into thinking that this was a site that cared about games enough to boycot some thing, or maybe that was just Lono. . .

Rothbart you don't get the point being made, whether or not it was intended to be light hearted is beside the point. The show ended up being about gaming, jokes where made but not focused on. Mabye your right and it was about that in the beginning, but I didn't like the first show. I liked the second episode, you know why? Lono! Lono made quick jokes but had the gaming knowledge to provide valuable information and that's what I liked. As soon as the joke was over, BAM back to gaming. Now it's a long silly string of jokes that I don't care about. I want to know about upcoming games not jokes about bananas.

We do care about games, but we also care about having a jolly good time as well.
Plus the blu show has people shouting ROOOMAH all the time, even if its more informative and less comedy set peice driven, they still have their fun.

That's a valid concern Brian. And Doc and Dave are obviously listening. Did you hear the intro to the second SG Radio? They made fun of how the first episode was 1 long string of jokes about nothing. They spent a good amount of time talking about games this time around...dontcha think?
choco 04-21-2009, 07:17 PM I laughted my butt off!! great show guys!

Quite right, i do laugh at that.
I like the mix in the blu show but not in the new SG radio, its just . . . blah blah bannanas . . . blah blah socks. WTF is that?
I dont want the comedy forced into my face.
PsychoticBagel 04-21-2009, 07:18 PM If you all like that joke about bananas which a breif talk about a upcoming game. you can check this podcast out Fruit Snack and Fanny Packs :wink2:
Lokela 04-21-2009, 07:19 PM Wow, rothbart, thanks for posting that link. Sarcastic Gamer has come a very very long way. After skimming the articles, I'm glad Doc started using "Doc" instead of his real name. Doc fits him better.
Now if you will excuse me, I must return to the past! Fire up the time machine!!!

sigh...this is the thread on the SECOND SG radio. You're talking about the FIRST one. read my post above MeRcEnArY.
And no one is FORCING comedy into your face. Unsubscribe to the podcast if you don't like it..but something tells me deep down inside that you DO like it :w00t:
Maybe im here for the wrong reasons then . . . i was tricked into thinking that this was a site that cared about games enough to boycot some thing, or maybe that was just Lono. . .
Hold on just a second. I can take criticism about me and my podcast, but I will not let you bad mouth the site.
We have an entire staff that works very hard, FOR FREE, to bring you articles, videos, and podcasts. To say WE don't care about games is one of the most ridiculous things I have ever heard.

You can't even deny that there was considerably less talk of games than in any preceeding show. And good isn't really good enough for a show that used to be dominantly gaming. I'm done with this show I'll go listen to lono at least he has an idea of what the harder gamers want.

You keep talking about what the Red Show became over the span of 80 episodes. We're on #2, I imagine the show will evolve as well.

I've got to defend Merc on this one. We all like the site, it's the red show's failure to meet the standards of it's former self that agravates us. I believe merc is dissappointed with you and doc, not the website. The rest of the site cares about gaming but I've ceased to see that in you.

Sorry dave, i was wrong, i know this site cares about games, i ment the show mostly.
I understand that your defensive about the site, its your baby. But why isnt the podcast reflecting what the site is about?!?!? You can hit me with "We put up funny videos and songs and fiction friday" but the beef (that is to say the main part) of your site is gaming news and hardcore gamers. . . isnt it?

So is the blue show. Just as not every article is serious, like the fiction friday ones you mention, the shows don't all have to take that serious line as well.

I'll express my feelings on that to get it out of the way. Where is my compensation for what has been taken from me? I'm commenting here because this show holds in it the two people I feel are responsible for theiving away my favorite gaming show.

If you read his quote he said site, not this podcast. To that point, this podcast is not the Red Show. We never claimed it was the Red Show (hence the new title, intro, and format).
So now I don't care about gaming? Reread again what I said to Merc about our staff, which includes me.

You're way too sensitive if you think that was flaming

Like I said where is my compensation for the red show? I'm supposed to take this mugging happily am I, well no sir you've robbed me of my main source of gaming info. Well sir if you did care about gaming your new show sure hasn't reflected it very well has it. Also you staff includes you but the staff is not entirely composed of you, personally I think there are multiple people that aren't writers but instead post useful gaming info and most of them contribute more than you (no offence).
MeRcEnArY 04-21-2009, 07:38 PM You're way too sensitive if you think that was flaming
Maybe i am eh? but i feel guilty about what you said to him.
Brian 04-21-2009, 07:40 PM Are you seriously wanting to be compensated for being deprived of a free show? WOW!
No it's the idea that you took away a good show and replaced it with crap that angers me, I'd just like you to take what I'm telling you into thought because your show (to me) is stupid now. As an added note love, friendship, and plenty of other things are free but once you lose them it's like a punch in the face.

Yeh, Lokela is totally right about that. The site has improved so much more, and I admire Doc and Dave for putting the effort in to making it the site it is today. Jolly good show chaps!
And... yeh, Doc sounds much better than Jeromy . But where did he get the name "Doc" from?
ahtisharry 04-21-2009, 07:49 PM to be the shows just gaining momentum its just getting better and better pat yourselves on the back dave and doc (sorry doc, dave had to come first in something) cant wait for the 3rd show... <3

Well, I have no money so that's out. Wanna record 15 seconds of fame? I'll move you up to the top of the list, but be nice.
I'm sorry that you feel robbed, and atm there is nothing I can do to ease your pain. All I can say is I hope you come back sometime down the line to see what this show becomes. Regardless of whether or not you feel that Doc and I care about gaming, we put a lot into SG Radio. We spend several hours on each episode (much more time than the Red Show btw) and after we're done, we leave it all out on the field.

I agree with Dave. It's one thing to criticize the podcast, which is what this thread is for (albeit not constructively on your part), but it's another thing to start criticizing the people who work tirelessly to make the site freshly updated every single day.

Oh FFS! is anyone going to read the damn reply i sent dave?!?!?!? jesus people!
MeRcEnArY 04-21-2009, 07:58 PM I can definitely tell that A LOT of time is spent on each episode and it's highly polishes. that's part of the reason I love it so much!
Tech nerd
Brian 04-21-2009, 07:58 PM No offence taken.
I appreciate the offer. But that's not what I want I just want you to take something from this. That is that I want you to acknowledge the part of your community that is craving information, humor doesn't hurt. But your taking away from your show by not discussing games enough. My only intention was to get this noticed so that the show could be better. I do however feel that I'll be subscribing again later down the line as to keep from disappointing myself.
Shane86 04-21-2009, 07:59 PM Tech nerd  :thumbsup:it doesn't take a tech nerd to notice how much work is put into the new shows.
jai92 04-21-2009, 07:59 PM Sorry dave, i was wrong, i know this site cares about games, i ment the show mostly.
I understand that your defensive about the site, its your baby. But why isnt the podcast reflecting what the site is about?!?!? You can hit me with "We put up funny videos and songs and fiction friday" but the beef (that is to say the main part) of your site is gaming news and hardcore gamers. . . isnt it?
Oh I see. Sorry merc.
MeRcEnArY 04-21-2009, 08:01 PM it doesn't take a tech nerd to notice how much work is put into the new shows.
What ever shane, it was ment as a joke you fool.

They talk about games LOADS in the second episode. What are you on about? And as they say in the show notes it is a WORK IN PROGRESS and they take FEEDBACK INTO CONSIDERATION. Stop being so hell bent on unsubscribing and give Doc and Dave a damn chance to take the feedback into consideration!
GOD!
DogsDieInHotCars 04-21-2009, 08:04 PM What ever shane, it was ment as a joke you fool.
Why making personal attacks? sheesh man, calm yourself. I knew it was joke....bah....why bother at this point

No need to insult someone dude, he was just making a statement.

Yeah but as he said earlier it was about things we already know and have heard from them about, so what was new and interesting?

Not really. Well the post that you've hid with your comments is obviously doing just that. I'm not hellbent on it, I've done it. Slow down there pal no need to get angry as this doesn't pertain to you anyway.
Brian 04-21-2009, 08:09 PM No need to insult someone dude, he was just making a statement.
-.- a statement taking a joke seriously and making a jerk of himself.
MeRcEnArY 04-21-2009, 08:11 PM Sorry you guys didnt know Fool was an insult . . . He just made it seem that i didnt understand how hard it is to pull off a show of that standard (not saying i like it yet  )
jai92 04-21-2009, 08:14 PM Yeah but as he said earlier it was about things we already know and have heard from them about, so what was new and interesting?
The whole show to me is new and interesting. The 15 seconds of fame is GENIUS, it allows the community to speak on their podcasts, and then listen to themselves on the show with guys they know and hold in high regard.
The "public service announcements" and the new parody. There are lots of things that remind us of their true, original aim to be Sarcastic Gamers and I think they are going closer to their roots and not a frickin news show which lasts TWO FRICKIN HOURS and I lose all interest in.
And they talk about games as well, for instance talking about HAWX and how it is an improvemnt on flight sims and the ground doesn't look like Google Earth, Chronicles of Riddick and touching on CoD: WaW and the nazi zombie mode, how it wears off after a while.
So to the guy who says there is no info on the podcast isn't listening to it enough or just doesn't know what the hell he's talking about.

Or mabye it's you? They've spoken about hawx 3 times is it? Also they talked about zombie mode cod waw for about 5 minutes on I forget which episode. So either you're new or unatentive.

Yes they talked about games but games they have already talked about, they havent talk about a different game (apart from riddick) for a long while.

They spoke about cod waw on SG Radio Ep 2. And it was longer than 5 mins. Anyway, it shouldn't matter that they aren't a barrage of information. That's not what they aim to be. They want to give you a laugh and touch on games without giving you a 2000 word essay about them like they do on plenty of other podcasts. That's what makes them different to the plethora of other gaming podcasts out there. They don't go on for 20 minutes about a game, they just go over them with humour.
I'm new to the forums, but I've been listening to the red show since Summer last year. And aI'm not unattentive, my friend, as I actually know which podcast I'm talking about.
jai92 04-21-2009, 08:30 PM Thats all they talked about dude, why dont you listen more? or where you still laughing at the random bs?
Like I said, it's the wrong podcast if all you desire is information. And I don't think it's random bs.
PayneTrain 04-21-2009, 08:32 PM I think the show was great and I think it is even better they listened to the feedback, and it showed they really cared what they were putting up for download, something I questioned near the end of the Red Show.
I don't know about you guys, but you could feel there was some magic lost in the Red show. In the beginning, there was some weird power behind the podcast that few others can seem to capture. I can only think of one other (It's gained a foothold here) besides the ones on this site that drew in people for many different reasons, but mostly, it was because it brought a smile to their day. The fairy dust the Red Show was made of was slowly consumed by the diverse creative desires of the three hosts, and, without any intent of malice, the show became so split apart and weak it collapsed upon itself.
I think we lost the true essence of the Red Show a long time ago, and now Doc and Dave are trying to recapture the lost magic that surrounded the Red Show. I think it has been great so far, drawing me into the void of sitting there through midnight, anxiously hitting F5 for the new release, just like the old ones.

It's the remnants of the red show. And by the way they talked about it on the red show, the same people therefore they've covered it. Also that's what they used to do, they used to give you all kinds of gaming information so you're misinformed. I don't want to argue with you, you don't even grasp the argument completely. Besides what's the point of talking about a game without going in depth which you claim they don't do.

We do take feed back, just look at the difference from SG Radio #1 to #2. I thank you for your feed back.

This show isn’t the one to turn to for in-depth analysis of top stories, but rather a place for gamers to turn to when they’ve had enough of all of that. It’s a 30-minute road-trip around the Sarcastic Gamer Community with lots of stops along the way at places that don’t always have the cleanest restrooms. So reset your odometer, because as one journey ends, so begins the next leg of our podcasting adventure."

I'm afraid you didn't get what I was trying to say. He's claiming they basically say,"fallout good game" and that's all. I'm saying I don't think that's how they treat things, any coverage of a game lasting 2-3 minutes is in depth for me. "This show isn’t the one to turn to for in-depth analysis of top storie." I'm talking about games, what's your point "top stories" that doesn't include games.

There is such thing as a gaming realm which on it's own contains top stories. Shane an in depth review to me as I mentioned is 2-3 minutes so by that logic when they talked about cod waw zombie mode for a long time they went in depth with it or that aspect of the game. So the info ceases to be true. So before you go flipping out read the rest of the post. Also I think they are referring to what's going on with gaming when referring to "top stories." I'm just basically saying that they ought to discuss games more, the Jai guy didn't seem to understand that.

I understand what you were saying Brian. But they don't go on for like 2 hours talking about games. They have to fit different pieces into it as well as discussing games.
jai92 04-21-2009, 09:05 PM LOL
I agree with that, it was less scripted and when they are more natural is when they are funnier.
jai92 04-21-2009, 09:06 PM YAY! I'm the only one posting!
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

That's not taking a game in depth, that's rambling..... No one does that about a single game. Also I'm complaining about the lack of game discussion at all.

I guess the discussion on HAWX wasn't game discussion?
Brian 04-21-2009, 09:15 PM I guess the discussion on HAWX wasn't game discussion?
I'll say it for the 3rd time, they've discussed this game at least 3 times. It was old news.
Where is my compensation for what has been taken from me?
Brian,
I hereby grant yo a full refund of every penny you paid for my innumerable hours spent helping to prepare and record more than 140 podcasts for you to listen to.
As you feel you are entitled to that, here's a refund for Dave and Lono's hard work to.
If my math is correct we owe you exactly....
NOTHING.
You don't get compensated dude. We do this because its something we like to do. I've put my whole life into this podcast and this website for almost 2 years and have NEVER recieved so much as a SINGLE paycheck. EVERYTHING we do manage to raise goes right back into the site. it's taken a toll on my marriage, my friends, and my whole life.
So you think I OWE you ANYTHING?
You're a sad, arrogant little man and I would appreciate it greatly were you to find another community to inhabit.
I can take criticism, and have done so very well.
But I will NOT stand for you acting like I've DONE something to you. If THAT MUCH of your LIFE revolved around the red show, might I suggest you're in a life deficit.
I suggest you go get one.
I OWE YOU ZERO COMPENSATION.
DogsDieInHotCars 04-21-2009, 09:32 PM oh snap... Doc was all like "Hey Brian...here's your place. I'll go ahead and put you in it".
I think we caught Doc at a bad time.
Shane86 04-21-2009, 09:39 PM Wow Doc's pissed :D I think i'll let him defend the show by himself now
PayneTrain 04-21-2009, 09:58 PM If this topic was a text-based adventure game, our choices would be
A) bring back "Doc has sand in his vajaejay" jokes
B) Leave thread, hunker down in barracks
C)Do BOTH.
I will still defend this show against the Jackassery(TM by Lono) people will throw out (looks @ AssWipe2009's post in SG Radio 1) onto our boards. It's just wrong and utterly disrespectful.
jai92 04-21-2009, 10:04 PM Wow. Doc > Brian. Big time. Does Brian have a comeback? We'll see on the next episode of Sarcastic Days of Our Lives.
Doc does have a point, he's put a lot of effort into the website and shows, and it doesn't take a genius to see it.

Yeah, I'm not sure who these "Doc" and "Dave" characters decided to post on the forums. I can't believe someone is masquerading as them, cause we all know the real Doc and Dave never actually post here. /kidding.
And Doc, I actually pulled up the podcast and started listening to it.
Niyon 04-21-2009, 10:22 PM I liked this show better than the last one
Though, in all honesty, I was expecting Dave to start saying "YEA FITTY! YEA!!!" during the parody song. I don't know, just the way the song sounded, made it seem like it needed some "yea fitty"s in it.

Brownian 04-21-2009, 11:00 PM Always nice to hear your name mentioned, thanks for the opening song shout out! :)
strika234 04-21-2009, 11:05 PM I know I came a bit late to the haterade fest, or to some the anti-haterade fest, but I just want to say two things.
First, for those who say that they are not focused enough on the community, this is actually somethinng they balanced quite well in this episode.
Many people who come to the forums and the site do so through their interaction with the shows, and mainly the flagship one, SG Red.
As a few people posted in the thread about episode #1, if the new show were to focus two much on the community, it would alineate all the new and potential listeners. This means there would be a huge drop of new listeners to the show, and by a result the growth of the forums would slow down.
As we know most forum members fade away, and unless there is a steady stream of new posters, the forum will eventually die.
This is in essence why they cannot focus on the community that much. After all, that is for the SGCPs.
Second, if you don't think these guys can take criticism, then you obviously haven't listened to the "previously on SG radio" section of the new show.
Doc and Dave, you have no idea how much respect I have for you after being able to openly mock what people thought was wrong with the previous episode. bravo.
I don't think anyone can say its not getting better. with such a rate of improvement, who knows what episode 3 will sound like?
Lokela 04-21-2009, 11:40 PM I liked this show better than the last one

Me too! I want my "YEAH FITTY YEAHs" Dave! I was actually interjecting those myself....in my office....and people were starring. I probably should not have just admitted that to y'all.......Oh well.
Keep up the great work Doc and Dave! I'm looking forward to episode #3.
Victorsxl 04-22-2009, 01:10 AM Wondering if you are gonna continue doing Humpday Update?
MeRcEnArY 04-22-2009, 09:09 AM Wow. Doc > Brian. Big time. Does Brian have a comeback? We'll see on the next episode of Sarcastic Days of Our Lives.

Wow, your the guy in the group that when some one says somthing you say "Yeah!" but never realy speak up, so to you. . . stfu.
Ceasis 04-22-2009, 09:24 AM We all knew things would be different when Lono left but things happen and we just have to get on, ill miss hearing Lono's opinions/comments but i'll still listen to the old red show in the archives as well as this one now. If you didnt like this new episode then just at least give suggestions people, rather than just bitch/complain! No one makes you listen, and if you liked the red show, just listen to them again, there always funny even if you have listened to them before =]
But great show guys =] i look forward to next weeks ^_^
DeltaNuGuy 04-22-2009, 10:08 AM My thoughts.
Liked it better than the first SG Radio. Definitely a good mix of the clips and some game discussion. Felt alot more comfortable.
Don't forget the background music when you guys are talking, I noticed it wasn't there big time.
Doc, way to defend the show! Seriously! I think people forget they are commenting to real people, and the internet is a great way for people to act like giant douchebags. Keep up the great work.

No we realise that people listen so we make our voices heard, we may have been a bit heavy about what we said but thats what we think.
Douchebags . . . nice  Will watch what i say from now on . . .
geostar 04-22-2009, 11:15 AM doc, just in case you didnt get my PM heres a couple of ideas!
1) with the 15 seconds of fame you could have people do an outro.
2) say the last radio episode was sg radio #3 you could call the humpday update replacement sg radio #3.5 and so on and so forth
loving the shows! i loled at the internet skit! :w00t:
