View Full Version : PC Gaming Podcast Show?
sink257 04-25-2009, 12:46 AM I was wondering, if anyone out there would like to colaborate for a pc gaming show for the sarcastic gamer community? I really think there is a huge lack of podcasting related to the PC. There have been some but they've been really irregular. I know there are various other sites that have podcasts pertaining to PC games but the reason I want one for the PC community here is because it would be "Sarcastic" yeah
So I'm up for it, would anyone else like form up a team with me, then we could have our own slot in the community casts if this became a success.
EDIT:
Members interested: LatinLegacy, DaDillsta, euanc, daCooksta.
LatinLegacy 04-25-2009, 01:02 AM I don't mind doing one =). You'll just have to keep in contact with me via here or on MSN/AIM. I work & I'm in & out very often to do computer work. If I know the set dates that we will record, I will make room on my schedule so I can be part of the podcast. That's how the other one we had going fell apart.

DaDillsta 04-25-2009, 01:33 AM I'm on almost every day, I try to play recent games and could talk about whatever when I'm on. Steam name is DaDillsta, so is my Xfire if you want to reach me.
Waisybabu 04-25-2009, 03:24 AM Although I encourage anyone to go ahead and make one. Chances are, I won't be able to listen to it considering that I barely have time to listen to the Red Show or the Gamer Radio. But yes, if it is clever, humorous and pithy; why wouldn't I?
Astro Nit 04-25-2009, 03:29 AM I wouldn't want to help, I don't go on my pc enough, but I think it's a great idea
Purple Demon 04-25-2009, 06:05 AM I'd offer to help, but unfortunately my PC is out of action at the moment and I have to use my mum's laptop ><
LEGEND 04-25-2009, 08:24 AM Good idea, i'd listen.
Master Johnboy 04-25-2009, 04:06 PM You know i would love to do it although am Scottish so people probably won't understand me all that well lol. I would listen though.
daCooksta 04-25-2009, 08:08 PM I'd love to help out, man. I spend most of my forum time over here on the PC forums, and 90% of my gaming is on my PC. With the summer coming up, i'll have plenty of time to do it. PM me if you'd like to give me a shot, it'd be fun.
Louie the great 04-26-2009, 02:10 AM Yeah that would be a great show! I'd definatly listen to it. I would offer to record it but 1)I dont play PC games enough and
2)I'm 13 sooo...
daCooksta 04-26-2009, 08:27 PM well, we seem to have a cast, any suggestions as to topics to talk about?
Typhoon 04-27-2009, 07:24 AM well topics would b ... new release games, parts and new release parts to hit the shelves, pricing, gaming gear like headsets, keyboards and mice, the abstract things that happen on pc
Master Johnboy 04-27-2009, 12:07 PM I would do it sarcastic gamer is missing out a bit in the whole pc gaming side
palingenesis 04-28-2009, 02:42 AM i'd definitely like to help, the PC platform is my one of main gaming options next to my PS3
Vault Dweller 04-28-2009, 02:44 AM I'd definitely listen, yeah. And I'm willing to lend a hand if needed (just not actual podcasting; don't have the time for that).
aaron80 04-28-2009, 04:47 AM I am in for this as well. PC gaming definitely deserves a bigger spot in SG.
Kanibel 04-28-2009, 07:12 AM I just Joined but hell yeah ...
ShowSStopper 04-29-2009, 06:16 PM I dunno if I would help (Depends on the time) but I would definitely listen too.
Master Johnboy 04-29-2009, 06:25 PM I just Joined but hell yeah ...
He just joined but hell yeah...
Jordan the hobo 04-30-2009, 12:30 PM I just recently got into pc gaming and just bought a gameing laptop. Im on just about every day and would love to do one if its not to late. I know it would be a community cast but if it were an offical show. What color would it be? (red, pink, blue, orange)

If it were an official show, it'd probably be the Green show. It's the most obvious color that isn't taken. I've suggested to Sink that it have three permanent hosts and then a guest host spot that would have a different person each time (or the same person, but you get the idea). I have yet to get his feedback to this suggestion.

Yeah I agree with you on that, but if there was a show I would be happy to help (mostly because all i play are PC and PSP anyways) but why Green when it can instead be... No wait I can't think of anything else... DAMN IT!
daCooksta 04-30-2009, 01:55 PM Yeah I agree with you on that, but if there was a show I would be happy to help (mostly because all i play are PC and PSP anyways) but why Green when it can instead be... No wait I can't think of anything else... DAMN IT!
I'm pretty sure Sink and I would be two of the permanent hosts, but there are some issues with Time Zones we're also trying to work out. There's an 11 hour difference between he and I, after all. Adding someone from the UK to the show would make things even more interesting, but it's totally possible. We'll keep all of you posted as to the show, and if we go with the guest host idea, we'll be contacting each of you as to being a guest host.
Forbes 04-30-2009, 11:01 PM Well I can lend a hand if needed on the podcasting front. Perhaps as a backup or guest host from time to time. I pretty much only play PC games, though do dabble in the Wii from time to time. I listen regardless, because I'm a sucker for community podcasts.
SuxoR 05-01-2009, 12:22 PM I would be interested in helping if it still is needed
I am primarily a PC gamer and play competitively in a few games and know all about hardware, sites, software, and can do editing.
Really hope this comes through!
aaron80 05-01-2009, 12:29 PM I am very much interested in being one of the hosts for this community podcast plus I am mainly a PC gamer. PC gaming deserves more.
I am staying in the same part of the world as Sink so time-zone wise no issue. It would be very interesting to pull this through and have the views of the different hosts from different parts of the world share their views on PC gaming.
Nukm Nation 05-01-2009, 12:48 PM it would be great to see more live pc based shows or podcast. I have been doing Live PC game radio for about 4-5 years now and it has always been a blast. i would love to see more shows based on pc games for sure.:w00t:

Cool. I'm working on getting in contact with Sink about the show, and then we'll be able to give more information
sink257 05-01-2009, 10:04 PM Sorry for the late reply guys (i was slightly busy this week) Anyway, I'd like to thank all those who have replied and have offered to lend a hand in the podcast. It feels really awkward to say this, but not all of you can be a host for the show(kinda obvious, isn't it?). Don't be downhearted though. I'm sure in the future we'll have more things to do and we'll need more people. Well, it seems that right now we have 2 confirmed hosts, me & daCooksta. LatinLegacy, euanc and DaDillsta could you confirm yourselves? Hopefully once this is done we could work towards generating a script, and getting resources etc. IMO we should be out with a first podcast by the end of next week, so guys watch out for us yea.
Forbes 05-01-2009, 10:23 PM Cool, sounds great. I look forward to hearing what you guys come up with.
DaDillsta 05-02-2009, 12:02 AM Yeah I'm still down for it.

Should be the white, grey or black show as they are the only colours normal computers come in these days.
Also I'm up for recording a few shows but I haven't played many games on my PC lately due to lack of funds.....but I have a few new things which aren't too old  I also have a steam account and an active WoW account because you can't have a PC podcast without someone addicted to World of Warcraft. message me if you want me to come on or anything

But you need an MMO junkie really, so the real thing to do is test out every mmo possible then label them all crap except wow. Proclaim your love to your lvl 80 gnome mage with talents all in arcane!
SuxoR 05-02-2009, 04:41 PM Aww too bad this got put together without a lot of input well hope it goes well
daCooksta 05-02-2009, 06:04 PM Aww too bad this got put together without a lot of input well hope it goes well
Well, i wouldn't say that it's been put together entirely. What's your input?
palingenesis 05-03-2009, 03:20 AM Well, i wouldn't say that it's been put together entirely. What's your input?
i would've like to have heard more consideration, if your hosts aren't going to confirm ... then pass it off to others perhaps?
whats the format of the show anyway? just news and reviews?
Vexrog 05-03-2009, 09:16 AM I'll help. If need the opinion of a console tard turned PC lover then I'm your man!
daCooksta 05-03-2009, 02:46 PM i would've like to have heard more consideration, if your hosts aren't going to confirm ... then pass it off to others perhaps?

Well, even though i've been more vocal on this thread, it was Sink's idea, so I guess he's in charge of how it works. I haven't been able to get in contact with him very often. This will be a community cast, so how about y'all give ideas as to what y'all would think would be cool. And the host lineup isn't set in stone, as far as I'm aware.
sink257 05-03-2009, 09:21 PM The format would be most latest PC gaming news + our comments, not reviews of games but rather feedback on them, and we'll try to keep you up to date on any ongoing developmants related to pc hardware.
SuxoR 05-03-2009, 09:55 PM Just news? ohh...you know not all PC games that come out are great...and they don't come out often
daCooksta 05-03-2009, 10:31 PM Just news? ohh...you know not all PC games that come out are great...and they don't come out often
Well, I don't think it should be just news. You have the internet for that. I was thinking more like discussion. Perhaps do a Video Game Show-esque Mailbag section where we ask a question and get your responses. Suxor, if you were in charge, what would you do?
SuxoR 05-03-2009, 11:31 PM I agree daCook the show shouldn't talk about like news per say but the hosts could give opinions on what is going on, like when Demigod came out what do the hosts and community think about 75% of the people playing were pirating it? What does the community think about OnLive? Will it work? Predictions?Discussions about big stories like that, sure everyone reads the news on the Internet and we could discuss these things in threads but it's nice to listen to something and allow people to voice their opinions and know what your fellow community members think. The show could read feedback and stuff
What would I do if I ran the show? I have ideas but it doesn't seem like a good idea to type out a huge post haha it would just seem dumb and rushed, the podcast should be done right :] PC gamers are not like console gamers we are different and we should have a different podcast
Plus I keep getting IMs on X-fire >:]
sink257 05-04-2009, 04:19 AM Ah yes Onlive, I was hoping to discuss that too, but only when more information is released bout it
Dont worry guys it isnt boring news type news
DaDillsta 05-04-2009, 04:12 PM There was actually a lot of news about OnLive back in the press conference we watched a few months ago but not really breaking news or anything.
Jordan the hobo 05-05-2009, 11:33 AM Do you guys still need another host/guest? I'd love to do it.
Well since there is not much pc news it would have to be more of a discussion about what game are out. Community podcasts have to be under 30 min I think but you could easily fill that time every week.
Talk about software and maybe little tutorials "how to dos"?
SG does need a PC section but you have to make it funny like the rest of the stuff :)

There is definitely space for something like this in the grand scheme of things. I wish you luck!
I would think the SGC would welcome a decent PC show.
SuxoR 05-05-2009, 05:38 PM Now that a PC podcast has Rothbart's blessing
it has begun...*mortal kombat theme*
Jordan the hobo 05-05-2009, 08:35 PM greatest theme ever
daCooksta 05-05-2009, 11:44 PM Now that a PC podcast has Rothbart's blessing

haha i was thinking the same thing, minus the mk theme.
GideonB 05-06-2009, 12:33 PM haha i was thinking the same thing, minus the mk theme.
No, keep the MK theme, it's awesome, I love the input going in to this podcast idea, it seems to be like it will be awesome!
Well it looks as though there is enough "hosts" so I wouldn't mind helping out scouring the internet to find information on new releases and what naught, most of the time I do PC gaming so :)
daCooksta 05-06-2009, 05:14 PM No, keep the MK theme, it's awesome, I love the input going in to this podcast idea, it seems to be like it will be awesome!
Oh, no, i love the MK theme, i was just saying that in my head it wasn't there.
Master Johnboy 05-06-2009, 07:16 PM If your looking for hosts still i could do it :D
SuxoR 05-06-2009, 11:01 PM (T.T)
sink257 05-06-2009, 11:30 PM We'll be recording the first podcast this weekend guys! I (sort of) have a layout planned and as soon as the softwares are up and running, we'll get on with it :D.
LatinLegacy 05-06-2009, 11:40 PM Need to add me to skype, it's under my username <-----
-LatinLegacy
GideonB 05-07-2009, 11:20 AM Latin u added me lol I said hello. Also kool, but DaCooksta, you do realize that the gory games are gonna get banned in Germany because of politicians (worst time to mention it lol)
SuxoR 05-07-2009, 11:58 AM I don't think anyone knows what's going on...not a good sign :/
daCooksta 05-07-2009, 01:14 PM We'll be recording the first podcast this weekend guys! I (sort of) have a layout planned and as soon as the softwares are up and running, we'll get on with it :D.
woah woah woah, buddy...
this weekend?!
Dude, what time?
you have GOT to reply to my private messages, man. There is no way this thing is ready to go this weekend. There's still things that you and I gotta discuss.
LatinLegacy 05-08-2009, 01:38 AM I believe it needs to be a little more organized as well. I still don't know If I'm in or not yet although I did confirm my availability. I don't have everyone who is interested on my Skype contact list either. Add me if your one of the people interested in being involved with the podcast.
-LatinLegacy
Jordan the hobo 05-08-2009, 09:03 AM Yea lets orangize it first on the weekend every download skype and we can discuss it there.
SuxoR 05-08-2009, 12:55 PM How many sad faces must I post to get my point across!
daCooksta 05-08-2009, 01:42 PM Alrighty, here's the deal:
Sink and I have discussed it, and we have decided to split the show into two separate shows. The two shows will not be affiliated or anything. This was done to make things incredibly easier, what with time zone differences and all.
Now, I can't speak for his show, so instead I'll describe my ideas for 'my' show.
The show will be a community-oriented PC gaming podcast, focused more on discussing games than bringing you news. We're going to try and do more PC gamernights, and are considering doing gamernights with good games that gamers may have forgotten but are still alot of fun (i.e. Suxor and I recently played UT2004. That game's a blast, and perfect for gamernights). We plan on asking for alot of listener feedback, such as asking a question at the end of the show, and discussing your responses on the next episode.
Our current model is a 3+1 host system (3 permanent hosts and 1 guest host). The guest host would be picked from the community each week to join us on the show. The other two hosts currently are Jordanthehobo and Suxor.
We hope to have the show out in a few weeks, shortly after summer has started. However, if the show isn't ready we'll postpone it. Personally, I'd rather release a belated product than a sucky product.
However, as this podcast would like to have a large community focus, if you have any issues or suggestions or questions with the information I've given you so far, feel free to let it be known. The other hosts and I are going to try and hold a skype meeting this weekend, so I should be able to tell you even more after the meeting.
Thanks for your time, and I hope this doesn't raise too much confusion,
~Cook
I would like to be in this skype call so what must I do to be in it? Like im guessing that your doing an American version and is the other guy doing a European one as I would rather be helping a Euro one if you get my drift :P
Basically...im a little confused :w00t:
daCooksta 05-08-2009, 11:32 PM The Skype call is only for JordantheHobo, Suxor, and I. I would suggest talking to Sink for the EU one.
LatinLegacy 05-09-2009, 01:47 AM No love for LatinLegacy, the most hardcore pc enthusiast on the forums? lol :p

Check your inbox :wink2:
GideonB 05-09-2009, 09:17 AM Ok that's cool, I think Sink wants to lift the lid on who the EU people are so anyways we will probably be all loving PC Games too much to care about any other console lol
SuxoR 05-09-2009, 11:22 AM It's hard to please everyone but like Cooksta said this is a community based show, do not think "ohh I'm not a host pffft" nonono we can work you in somehow this is as much everybody's show as it is anybody's show, if you have something to say or a suggestion do not hesitate to PM or post
daCooksta 05-10-2009, 02:44 AM Well, we just got done with our meeting, and this is what I can tell you:
- We are going with the 3+1 host format. (See the above post for details)
- We plan on being Community-based.
- Suxor and Jordan the Hobo and I (Dacooskta) are the hosts.
- We plan on recording in two weeks (School will be out by then and allow us to prepare beforehand.)
- Our tentative title is the PCP (PC Podcast, or, to be even more precise, the Personal Computer Podcast)
- We plan on being in the Community Podcast feed
- We aim to be more about game discussion than news
If you have any questions, feel free to PM me or just post it in the thread.
Also, if you would be interested in being a guest host for the show, please comment below. We want to get as many of you involved as possible, so give us a shot and your feedback. Remember, this is a Community Podcast, so in order to be fully enjoyed we'll need you, the community, to join in!
NOTE: To avoid confusion, a thread for discussion of this specific podcast has been made with the exact same information found here.

Thank you, and am looking forward to your feedback.

GideonB 05-10-2009, 03:37 AM Ok then, this one is now for the EU PC Podcast so if you guys are in EU/Asia pm either me or sink as we are the hosts of this one (we don't kno who the 3rd dude is yet)
Master Johnboy 05-10-2009, 10:40 AM Hell al host on the EU podcast would be awesome.
If you will let me :)
fyremakyer 05-10-2009, 03:59 PM If I can grab a mic i would be up for it. I spend all of my gaming on the pc. Mainly strategy like Empite TW and AoE. Although i did get L4D. I do have alot of free time though. Slight downside is im 14 but...
aaron80 05-11-2009, 12:42 AM I think I am the 3rd dude because sink asked me yesterday and I am fine with it.
Ok then, this one is now for the EU PC Podcast so if you guys are in EU/Asia pm either me or sink as we are the hosts of this one (we don't kno who the 3rd dude is yet)
Master Johnboy 05-11-2009, 06:19 AM I thought i was the third dude
Hmmmmmm best ask sink you can have it if he screwed up and asked two of us lol.
GideonB 05-11-2009, 08:59 AM I shall ask him later on xfire (replying from shitty school computers they dont have xfire on there :O) Yeah he should be on until like 5pm GMT if i remember correctly xD
sink257 05-11-2009, 11:56 AM Just clearing the air, and well, yea I did ask both of you, and since both of you responded positively, we'll try and see how both of you can fit the bill.
Can we have some information on how far this EU PC show has got as there is quite a lot of confusion if you ask me...
GideonB 05-11-2009, 01:22 PM Ok we have 2 main hosts confirmed GideonB and sink257 and were probably gonna record next week with the other 2 hosts once I get the skype names off sink because I don't know their forum names either. If you can PM me whoever you are, it would help.
sink257 05-11-2009, 11:47 PM @gideonb Didn't I tell you their names, Master Johnboy and aaron80? I'll pass you their skype names later when you're online.
GideonB 05-12-2009, 03:26 PM Ok kool, tell me this weekend and we can get something sorted out on Skype probably, we now know who the 4 hosts are and that we all will start recording soon. Keep your eyes peeled on the SCP feed whenever we announce new episode C:
daCooksta 05-12-2009, 08:44 PM you guys have a name yet?
DaDillsta 05-12-2009, 09:08 PM I'm thinking they should use something witty like ESP.
daCooksta 05-13-2009, 01:26 PM I'm thinking they should use something witty like ESP.
ESP? What would that stand for? And that sounds alot like the other show... the PCP. or the PSP. IDK. haha, it's totally up to you peoples.
GideonB 05-13-2009, 02:08 PM Or, or... the DOS LOVERS! No I don't know what the name is, but it will be a name that is a name of a name that we came up with. *BEEP BEEP THE SMOKE ALARM GOES OFF*
LatinLegacy 05-15-2009, 03:10 AM There is a third PC podcast already in the works :p. Things did not fall through on either end for me so I'm starting one now. I got scolded by my co workers for not starting my own since I do have a very deep knowledge of the field (Hardware Wise). This podcast will not focus on games though. It will be about the hardware industry as a whole. CPU's, GPU's, Power Supplies, Motherboards, Keyboards, Mice, Cases, etc. Will also talk about news, rumors & other topics yet to be decided.
I will also have a friend coming to the forums who is a certified apple tech. He'll cover all of the mac hardware news that is going on. So two people are confirmed. I'm attempting to get another female friend who also works in the hardware field but sshe is unconfirmed as of yet. I'm just waiting for my switchboard to come in so i can have multiple audio channels going when I record (Not using Skype). Each person having there own channel leads to easier editing & less people talking over each other ;).
Will keep everyone posted on what's going on.

sink257 05-15-2009, 07:11 AM Wow, all I see now is a PC gaming revolution at sarcastic gamer, and i'm proud to be a part of it lol
SuxoR 05-15-2009, 01:56 PM Wow a hardware show sounds very interesting and I'd surely listen

sweet! ha, hardware is something that I know very little about. Looking forward to hearing your show, and still want you to guest-host on mine soon.
