Hey guys, Episode 51 of the Sarcastic Gamer Playstation Podcast is here already!* The gaming news for the week was looking pretty bleak until a couple days before we recorded and then all hell broke loose!

1UP started the avalanche by accidentally (uh huh) confirming the existence of a new PSP model named the PSP Go!* Also leaked, this time via Best Buy, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is going to have a public multiplayer beta.* Sony Gamer’s Day gave us more info on the multiplayer plus a ton of other things like impressions of Sony’s upcoming 256-player FPS aptly named MAG (Massive Action Game.)* To say MAG is shaping up nicely would be an understatement.

PacManPolarBear could barely contain himself when talking about the upcoming Killzone 2 Championship.* On the topic of enthusiastic discussions, Frawlz enthusiastically hates PixelJunk games and tells everyone why (at least I think finally came up with a reason.)* PacMan also got the complaint chip off his shoulder by going off on the lack of good JRPGs on modern gaming systems.

After a surprisingly interesting discussion of Sony’s new plan to get independent developers to pledge exclusivity to PSN, Rothbart gets mocked for what he returned home with from his recent trip to the Best Buy $10 game sale.* Of course there were many other topics discussed, but you’ll just have to listen to the whole show to find out why you might be hearing 35 minutes of Kim Andre on this show in the near future.

I admit, I was that one guy who bought Rock Revolution. It's not bad. But it can't compete with Guitar Hero/Rock Band. :lol:

PMPB: Tell me the RPG's that came out early in the cycle of the PS2? Most of the titles were released later on. Plus they obviously take longer to make than a traditional shooter. I agree there is a lack of RPG's but I can only imagine that is going to change, give it time.

I'm sure you have not played all of those & there is still a few that I have not mentioned. The problem with JRPG's is that it is a dieing genre in most countries other than Japan. Western RPG's have taken the RPG world by storm ever since the last gen with the PS2 & Xbox. Although it really started with the PC =). Btw, you should check out Sacred 2 which is coming out May 12th. It's an Action RPG in the style of Diablo that will be on the 360 & PS3. It'll have multiple classes with spell trees, mounts, pets, level progression & best of all, 4 player online co op.

This is actually the first time I've ever appreciated anything you've said. :shocked:

There's next to no hype around this one(or I live under a rock...) and I never heard of the original. Am I going to have to know the story from the first one to appreciate the new one? I've really been in need of a good RPG and your little description has caught my interest.

Do yourself a favour PMPB and go but Valkyria Chronicles now! It's infinitely better than any of the other JRPG's you were talking about, it may not be in the exact style of a JRPG but it is a much more enjoyable game for it :thumbsup:

EDIT: Oh and you mentioning it was the 1st I'd heard about the U2 3 player co-op - that's seriously cool and makes my most anticipated game for this year even more hotly anticipated. I'm guessing no split screen though = /

From what I've heard the co-op is going to be a completely separate setting than the original storyline. That way they prevent having to create a character that is with you at ALL times during the story in order to support a co-op option. It makes me wonder if it will be GRAW2 style, where they had mini campaign missions for co-op(just thinking about that now makes me want to play it! To bad I sold it :( Only game I've EVER played where I had 16 players all working together and no one was being a douche).

Of course this is just word of mouth. Does anyone out there know the truth of it all?
