View Full Version : Tony Hawk Ride UnrealJHXS 05-15-2009, 05:19 AM The latest Tony Hawk game was unveiled in GameTrailersTV. The much rumored peripheral is true, with a Wii Fit board-like skateboard. It looks to be much lighter,as they showed it being turned 180 degrees very quickly. DeathByWaffle 05-15-2009, 07:34 AM I haven't really played a Tony Hawk game that I really enjoyed in a LONG time honestly, so not really interested. RaiseHavok 05-15-2009, 07:36 AM Giant Bomb has a pic of the skateboard peripheral (http://www.giantbomb.com/news/heres-the-tony-hawk-ride-skateboard-controller/1285/). The Moon 05-15-2009, 07:53 AM I can't see how it will work, honestly, it just looks awkward. As someone who doesn't and can't skate in real life, one of the things I enjoy most about skating games is that I can pretend I can for a while in virtual reality, while just being sat down instead of going out and actually learning how to skate. If I was so desperate to use a real board, I'd go and buy one and learn how to skate instead of wasting money on some crappy plastic thing. I don't expect this game to be any good, the graphics in the trailer were pretty bad, there was no new or interesting gameplay shown, and from how the quality of tony hawk games has carried on falling recently, I'm not expecting a radical change, and it's not likely a peripheral will change that. I'm sticking as a Skate man myself, that game was just so much better than tony hawk. Awoll SGF 05-17-2009, 03:19 PM I'm going to give it a try. BUT, I for see a lot of these things breaking after fat assed gamers get on them and try to do trick. Don't they realize that mouthbreathers and lard asses play video games? Keats 05-17-2009, 03:39 PM I'd rather just learn how to skate. Havok83 05-17-2009, 05:19 PM Its good that they are trying something new but I dont think a new peripheral will save this Ploogle 05-17-2009, 05:22 PM I'll keep my eye on this. I loved the original Tony Hawk game, and lost interest in the genre after playing Sk8te. (Seriously, wth kind of name is that?) Depending on how major gaming sites say it plays, I might give it a shot. Duff 05-18-2009, 08:44 AM Like Awoll said, fat people (including myself) need not apply... I don't think that this thing will fare well in the market, especially considering how fragile the board looks. It will be interesting to see how this gets received by gamers and the media... Nightkiller93 05-18-2009, 11:14 AM How am i meant to do a cross-bone 540 into a FS pop shuvit into a double heelflip then into a one foot tail grab 720 into a method handplant anf finishing off with a hippie jump? Waisybabu 05-18-2009, 11:32 AM I won't be playing the TH series again. I wasted my money on the last two installments. And as for Ride, pffft. Skate zindabad! Jordan the hobo 05-18-2009, 12:12 PM Im interested we will see how much it costs Awoll SGF 05-18-2009, 08:57 PM Not to start a war, but why do people say "Why buy this instead of learning to REALLY skate?" when a ton of people play rock band or guitar hero. It's the same idea. Because of Skate, Tony Hawk has become a lame ass series. A new and innovative thing might just be the trick it needs to be interesting again. Nightkiller93 05-20-2009, 06:21 AM It's 360 exclusive in the UK! http://www.vg247.com/2009/05/20/tony-hawk-ride-is-360-exlcusive-in-the-uk/ Apparently it's multiplatform now but Microsoft is aiming for exclusivity. http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/20/microsoft-aims-for-tony-hawk-ride-xbox-360-exclusivity-in-the-uk/ RaiseHavok 05-26-2009, 10:14 AM GameStop has listed a date and price (http://www.gamestop.com/browse/search.aspx?N=0&Ntk=TitleKeyword&Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&Ntt=tony%20hawk%20ride) for the game and peripheral. According to the retailer, pre-orders will ship on Oct. 13 and the package will cost $119.99. The price is the same across all three SKUs (PS3, 360 and Wii). Take it for what its worth. Information first seen on Destructoid (http://www.destructoid.com/rumor-riding-with-hawk-mixing-records-will-cost-you-120-132946.phtml). Ploogle 05-26-2009, 11:34 PM $120 for a skating game? No thanks. Chubbaluphigous 05-26-2009, 11:54 PM GH and RB are rhythm games. They aren't trying to sim playing guitar(you can argue the drums bit though.) This is trying to sim skating. I don't think this is bad, but it makes me wonder how far will this go? In the future, how much of our lives will we just pretend to do? Paradigm13 05-27-2009, 12:06 AM GameStop has listed a date and price (http://www.gamestop.com/browse/search.aspx?N=0&Ntk=TitleKeyword&Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&Ntt=tony%20hawk%20ride) for the game and peripheral. According to the retailer, pre-orders will ship on Oct. 13 and the package will cost $119.99. The price is the same across all three SKUs (PS3, 360 and Wii). Take it for what its worth. $120 for the Wii version, too? Come on, guys. I have something that looks like that but is flat and white for the Wii that does exactly what Tony's peripheral is claiming to do. And it probably does it better! monkeychunkuk 05-27-2009, 03:35 AM $120/£80 quid for a skating game? erm yuo thats not gonna happen MeRcEnArY 05-27-2009, 09:48 AM I'll try that, looks like it would be fun for a good 4hours. |
