Officials warn that God needs 10% of gross revenues plus a first right-of-refusal on sequels.

Manchester, England (SG) -- The Church of England is pissed. Sony's Resistance: Fall of Man struck a nerve with the church after it portrayed its Manchester Cathedral amidst the flying bullets and heavy fragging that propelled the title to one of the most successful PS3 titles yet. (Not all THAT impressive since there are only a handful of exclusive titles for the console)

Apparently, the church does a lot of anti-gun work, and they feel it is a sacreligious act to set this type of game in a church. They have demanded that Sony remove the scene from the game, (yeah right), or pay the church a big sum. Hmmm...

So it's sacreligious, UNLESS you cut the church in on the action. That's choice. I wonder what else we could get away with, if we pay the Church of England first. Adultery is a major sin, but if you grease the offering plate, maybe they'll let you use the confession booth.

O....M....G! The Manchester Cathedral is an internationally recognized landmark. If you don't like your church being used to lend a sense of realism to a work of fiction, gather your candles and pointy hats, and head over to a strip mall. I am sure you'd find that location much less apt to be rendered in a fantasy world than your current accomodations. Maybe if the church officials could pry themselves away from the holy wine for a moment, they'd understand just what a mountain they are making of this mole hill.

My favorite chapter of this story, hasn't actually happened yet. As a result of this hooplah, you just KNOW that copies of Resistance are going to be flying off the shelves faster than you can say "Peace be with you".

With such heavy-handed opportunism on the part of The Church of England, it's no wonder the pilgrims started booking it for Plymouth Rock.

Old thread... nostalgia much.

If only I'd been here in the beginning, t'would have been nice.

I might have been a Mod by now, and be laughing at Shane.

On topic, Manchester cathedral is a really nice place

As I am from the future I can now assure you that the level was not removed from the game. You can all stop worrying now.

If my experience here has taught me anything, it doesn't matter in the slightest how long you're here or how qualified you are, they only pick their friends or staff as mods.

I am talking about myself.

Exactly, people who have little understanding over the community get the nod over more deserving and experienced members.

On a more related note, anyone else miss the days when the actual authors posted their own article instead of the ****ing News Bot?

On a more related note, anyone else miss the days when the actual authors posted their own article instead of the ****ing News Bot?I prefer the newsbot way, it's less arrogant.

This, coming from someone who bumps the threads of his posts.

But you cant see the author of the article without being forced to visit the front page if its posted by News Bot.

It would actually be more helpful if you at least put the name of the author at the end of Newsbot posts. I almost exclusively use my blackberry for SG, and you can't see the author of articles on the front page of the mobile site.

You are awfully mature! How old are you?

Being a mod isn't all its cracked up to be, at least from my experience its not. It really does take up a lot of your normally free time which is usually used to play video games. I fully respect anyone who continually dedicates their time as its a bitch to do...... and its such a thankless job.

I don't mind the Newsbot, but I just usually miss who actually wrote whatever is being posted. Not sure if its just me no seeing it or if it doesn't say. Either way its a good way to bring all the stuff from the front page to everyone on the forums. Most people don't check the FP for some reason....

@ Exane22, you're right in your point about the Moderator job. On huge forums it can be a huge pain in the ass. This is not from my experience but from a friend who used to be a moderator on a different site but quit a few months later.

It can't be too hard here though. Apart from the occasional advertising bots *cough*wedding dresses for sale*cough* and the outbursts of lolcat filled threads occasionally its a pretty good site.

No doubt, this is most definitely a pretty laid back community. So much better then others that I am a part of. Thats why I enjoy it here so much! Not sure of what the behind the scenes work load is like here, but that is what kills me personally. All sites are different though :)

Why should I?

Posts seem way more important when there written in Italics, don't you agree?

It's kind of redundant going there when everything is still posted here in a much more organized fashion (e.g. I don't have to scroll past Podcast Episode Information to get to the news articles on the forums). A they can be commented on by the community as well.
