You might notice our new abode, so I would like to start off by thanking Rothbart and Regua.
I figured I would kick off the addition of this forum with a thread explaining how you can be a Gamer Night host.
To be perfectly honest, it's easy, simple, and fun. All you need is a decent internet connection, a console, a game that's fun to play with a group of people, and a good standing with the SG Community. The last part is probably the hardest, but if you're a decent human being and people like you, then you're fine.
To go about hosting a gamer night, you have a couple of options. You can be extremely well organized and dedicated, or you can just decide you want to host a Gears of War 2 room on Friday night and play with some SG guys. Both options are viable.
If you want to go the organized route, send me a PM, or if you want to get in touch with me more quickly - an email. I'll need your forum name, dates/times you can host, console, and games. Then I'll organize the people that give me the information and spread them out across the weekend and genres of games - giving the community more choices.
If you just want to host a fun night every now and then, it's much more simple. Post a Gamer Night thread in the appropriate console forum, be sure to detail what game, the date, the time (including time zone), and how you would like people to sign up. Then just shoot me a PM, and if there aren't any problems, I'll move it to this forum, make a note of it, and it will be featured on the front page.
As for the front page post, I try to have that up every Thursday, so sign up threads should be up by the Wednesday before. It's a good idea to get them up as soon as possible anyway so you can maximize participation.
Finally, it would be ideal to be able to fill time slots with dedicated hosts each week. If I get enough volunteers, I could sticky a list of them in this forum, which would cut out the middle man (me) when the community would like to play a particular game.
Thank you, and if you have any questions, feel free to PM me or just jot them down below!
