So far i cant find a general E3 thread. This is for whatever E3 musings you have.

So to start with the two big announcements from the Microsoft press conference.

MGS on the 360 and Project Natal

MGS: The Kojima countdown hasnt finished yet, what will be announced then do you think?

Project Natal: I will admit it is a great concept... but wasnt the wii a "great concept" and everyone got so hyped for that and look at it now. This is casual gaming TO THE MAX. because on the wii you CAN have hardcore games but they just dont have them. on this you literaly CANT have hardcore games; u cant play halo 3 on that. WHat do you guys think, gimic or a genuine gaming step forward?

Well What do you expect from it, in Hardcore gaming terms. Natal is just a gimmick , ok. The demo with the avatar movement was glitchy as all hell while the live demo with the paint party was amazingly smooth.

Sky Tv looks great, I hope there's no extra cost but I doubt it

Influx of causal gamers for some, other perhaps because it's too much for the soon to be shooter genre. Imagine the "new controversy of the military's new recruiting and training games for our children" BS.

I never said it didnt look cool, but just how much different stuff could you develop for it before it gets repetitive. Racing, kickball, and painting for god sake!? And with the Milo thing, YAY We dont need real friends anymore!!! I understand it is still very early in developement but what I dont understand is how they can show off so much stuff for it and its not even releasing for another year+

Fair enough. I'd just say that not every game is a shooter. Imagine having an action game in which you use swords or something, and the camera could track your swings and your on screen character and NPC's would respond to your actions in a realistic way.

Man people are weak they all need a game like "EA Active" just to get the confidence to work out its sad.

The Sabator seems great i've been waiting for it for at least a year, only problem i see is the kinda "jerky" movement they need to add some animations to make it smooth.

That's the end of that chapter. I enjoyed the EA press conference, I tought It started off very poorly but It quickly picked up when Mass Effect 2 and Brutal Legend were shown and the SW:TOR trailer at the end was epic.

I have just one question, where the hell was Battlefield: Bad Company 2?

Next up is Ubisoft at 5 PM PDT (1 AM GMT). Expect to see Assassins' Creed 2, Ghost Recon 4 and Splinter Cell Conviction (again).

I like how you can pick random items to survive rather than have a pistol with unlimited bullets. It seems much more realistic and it would probably feel more like you are actually surviving a zombie apocalypse and give an even added adrenaline rush. I'm gonna assume from the trailer with all the weird limbs falling off and stuff that this movie will have a more dead space feel to it with you hacking off zombie limbs rather than a FPS feel. Also yay for zombies with coloured clothing because apparently according to the first L4D if you become infected your clothes also turn grey.

If they changed the AI director or added new special zombies and changed the overall feel to the game I wouldnt mind buying the game. If it felt like I'm just playing a L4D 1 update then I'd definately demand for my money bank. I dont think it would be the case though and even though I do feel as though Valve is rushing this and that its releasing a bit too soon I do hope that any additional ideas they may have can be put in the form of an update rather than resulting to them making a L4D3. I sincerely hope they do thorough brainstorming well in advanced because I would be peeved if they did it again.

The natal can only read general body movements. It can't register fine movements, like when racing. It isn't going to see the angle you are holding the tennis racket or golf club. Milo thing was just a tech demo. It has a neat concept, and it has potential, but really that thing was made because Peter M gets off on that sort of stuff. I play games to relax, not jump around and wave my arms like an idiot. When it comes to action games, the Natal isn't going to satisfy the hardcore gamer. I can't move as fast and cleanly as Ryu Hayabusa or Dante, and so button presses work better. If the game has to be slowed down to allow for a human to respond with full movements, then it really isn't going to satisfy. This however, is another step toward hallucinating little icons all over the place.

I will hold off on forming an opinion about Forza 3. The last one was a let down. I really want to know how they plan on fitting all the data from 500+ detailed cars onto one disk. There has to be some concessions made somewhere. I have the wheel for GT5 that gives full force feedback, and was designed specifically for GT5. Forza doesn't have that. I can feel the wheels slipping, and every car behaves and feels extremely differently. I hope Forza 3 can bring it, but I don't see it doing so.

The Epic side scroller looks really cool. I'd like to see more of that.

The MGS thing is not really a surprise. MS has been trying really hard to get Hideo to make a game for them for a while. This won't be like the other MGS games in terms of gameplay. Raiden has a very different style than Snake. Hideo also mentioned that it would be different from the other MGS games. There is one more game that he is working on right now, that is to be revealed tomorrow.

For Twitter you have to be Gold? They want me to pay to have access to a free service? If you have to quit the game to access it, then it wouldn't interest me. Quit and restart a game just to send one tweet isn't too useful. I can use Twitter on my PS3 like that, and I don't.

I'm not too sure, the silhouette looked pretty accurate. Maybe methods of indication are the way around that. I'm pretty much sold on the idea. Peter M may get off on some weird stuff, but he consistently makes the top selling, top rated, games every time he puts one out. I cant wait to see what comes out of this.

Twitter is an extra incentive. They aren't charging any more for it, so if you want you can call it an added extra to the service. It's free on your PC/ps3, but that's because you get advertised to.

Anyone else watch the whole of the Ubi presentation waiting for something sweet? It was painful, at least there was a little comic relief from the host. That tabletop game looked interesting, but they forgot to talk about it.

Where did you get the video stream from? That was worse than the Ubi conference. There was about 5mins of cool stuff and 85 mins of crap. Why not actually go in depth to Mario, and wtf was with Zeldas 5 second slot? Maybe a little more than 5min actually, but if the last 20 mins could have been more like 45 that would have been better.

I'll have to agree with Silk, that show stunk up the place lol. There first cheer came when they showed a Mario game. The crowd was not amused by the endless amount of one liner kindergarten jokes that was being said throughout the entire conference. The new Metroid game was the spotlight of the entire conference & it's not what Nintendo fans wanted. They wanted a Zelda Wii game MUCH MORE than a new Metroid. This years E3 for Nintendo was a fail.

Delighted at the Golden Sun announcement, Atlus rules. New mario galaxy is good too. That pulse monitor is a stupid idea. Wii motion plus hasn't impressed me with the games they've shown.

Agent from R* sounded really cool and MAG looks hella fun, no Heavy Rain means it's likely a 2010 release and the PSP's line-up this year is solid. I thought the motion sensing controller was cool but it needs a redesign and Rick said that it was an early prototype. A really solid press conference from Sony but lackluster in new features for the PS3.
