Oh me, oh my, it has been a very busy afternoon folks! Well, morning, if you’re in Americaland. It’s been rather hectic on this side of the pond because of all of the huge news that’s come straight out of Microsoft’s E3 press conference.
And when I say huge, I mean really, really huge. But you knew that!
Join me for a quick round-up (might not be so quick) over the jump…and over several pages!
MS kickstarted the party with some trailers for the newLIPS and 1 Vs. 100, but the real good stuff started with the first trailer of The Beatles: Rock Band.
With cel-shade-like, stylised visuals, it’s definitely a unique game outside of the general Rock Band franchise. What’s more, it’ll feature songs and albums as DLC over time, with the first piece of DLC - “All You Need Is Love” - being exclusive to Xbox LIVE, with all profits going to Doctors Without Borders. Paul, Ringo and Yoko took to the stage (along with Olivia Harrison, George’s widow), blabbed what they were paid to blab and then tootled off back home. Beatles: Rock Band covered.
In steps Tony Hawk to premier peripheral-tastic new game Ride, with the skateboard controller in hand. He explains it’s packed with IR sensors to detect exactly where your hands and feet are to emulate it in the game. There’s a video of some pro skaters trying it out in a living room (and probably destroying half of it when the cameras are turned off) and a small glimpse of in-game footage.
Screw that though. We want some Modern Warfare 2 (http://sarcasticgamer.com/wp/index.php/2009/06/e3-09-modern-snowmobile-warfare-2-xbox-360-timed-exclusive-mappacks.html), and Infinity Ward delivered it! As well as last week’s trailer, we were treated to some in-game footage showing off the return of Soap McTavish, icepicks, guns and snowmobiles. Lots and lots of snowmobiles.
